Suggestions for Awaken Realms. List all roles with instructions, including the Smuggler on the back of the player aid (or somewhere). These are very useful for new players, and when teaching. And especially the Smuggler, it is hard to remember all the options. Add more colors to the role tiles, making them stand out more from each other. Optionally have one side in current style and the other side in more color. Allowing players to choose the style to play with. The game should include score sheets to make final scoring easier. Otherwise, I always make my own each game. Estate tiles should be double sided since they are drawn from a bag. That way players do not need to flip them around to the correct side after drawing them.
Thanks for the playthrough video! I absolutely love Puerto Rico and this brought back all the excitement of pledging to the campaign. I would love it if the main board were dual-layered as well. It would be great if part of the box insert doubled as table containers for the resources, money, victory points, and workers. Finally (and this is a very nitpicky wishlist item), the custom-designed inserts for quick setup (not included in your prototype but shown in the campaign) are highly appreciated but they are ugly plastic that detracts from the table presence. It would be lovely if they were dual-layered cardboard as well.
Thank you once again for a great tutorial / review of this latest rendition of a fantastic and classic game. I have been playing Puerto Rico regularly since it was first introduced, probably a lot more than a hundred plays. If I remember right, it cost $23 from Boulder Games. It has held up well to time. I have to say, though, that I really prefer the original version (with the buildings expansion) over this one.
I may have missed it, but does this have a solo option? Really like games with solo option. Game looks great (yes, I’m late to board gaming), and your play throughs and explanations are always top notch. Thx!
Puerto Rico is a great game …. but there really is no need for an overproduced and overpriced edition. Just get the regular 2022 ish reprint which features all the expansions (of which the only one really good is the new buildings, the others being meh) for about 40 euros.
I think the plantation(estate) tiles lack contrast and the goods blend in with the ships too much. The lack of color differentiation makes the game harder to play. The smuggler is interesting but seems to circumvent too much of the basic rules.
I am eagerly waiting for my deluxe version. I have full faith in Awaken Realms after CoB. This will make it much more enjoyable for my game group I feel and easier get it to the table.
SUGGESTION: I don't think the multi-layer boards need spaces for the goods, VP and money. I noticed that the multi-layer board was causing people quite a lot of difficulty in grabbing the tokens for goods and money. Just have a flat area for those things and reserve the multi-layer for the buildings and plantations. Obviously, people who like to make ostentatious displays of wealth will buy the minis (like they did for Robinson Crusoe where they were not only pointless, but had impaired functionality), but the minis are just crowdfunding bait and are pointless overproduction, so who cares about the SunDrop™ finish? 😁

The estate tiles can’t be double-sided because they need a forest on the reverse side for the New Buildings expansion.
@JefferyHunt ah, didn't know they were doing it that way. I can see that makes sense.

Thanks, Paul. I was waiting for this to finish my pledge. All looks great!

Yes, this version has a solo mode. However, it is being finalized and is not ready for reviewers/pre-viewers.
Why are metal coins so small? Are they for small children's hands or for adults?
They were ok for me.
They’re coins made for ants!
@ I'm an ant!
Would You recommend this for 2p ?
I've never played at 2-player. I've heard the new 2-player rules work well, but I've not tried them myself.
I am forced to comment that there never was any eu banana straightness rule.
maybe not, but it's still funny. At least I thought so.

Respectfully disagree. I love the double-layer board slots for goods, VP, & money in the new Castles of Burgundy and would like them here as well.
so pay 100$ for unneeded fancy bits...or 40$ for cardboard chits.....
*$100, not 100$, you dolt. $40, not 40$, again, you complainer.
There is a option for hard plastic tiles aswell.
@clvrswine You are the ignorant dolt. Do you know where they come from? Not everywhere puts the $ before the numbers.
I sincerely hate you! With lots of passion! :D
love you too!
I loves me this game. It is just so good. And it is a looker in this form I can see.
thanks no, another overproduced game wirhout a need to do - so except for ... well, its all about money
