Warfaze was founded in 1984, their first album came out in 1991 and this song is from their second album titled the same, which came out in 1994. The song was written in 1992 by Babna Karim, who is also the composer and singer of the song. He was the bassist at that time. Here, the only member from the 1984 original lineup is the lead guitarist Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal (guitarist with the black beanie hat) is still playing. He is popularly known as "The Guitar Man", Kamal (pronounced Komol) is probably the best guitarist alive in Bangladesh and the other was our late great legendary Ayub Bacchu of LRB. The Drummer, Tipu and Babna the first (also the original) singer in this version, joined in 1985. Tipu is also the current band leader. The second singer is Palash Noor, who is also the current lead vocalist of the band. When, Warfaze first broke into the scene, they were at least a decade ahead from their contemporaries, which made them different from other great bands of Bangladesh. The only thing that I have missed is Russel Ali, who played the guitar, keys and piano in the original version.
The first vocal, Babna Karim, was a mechanical Engineering graduate from BUET. He became a lecturer and at the same time wrote a number of legendary songs in 90's for warfaze. After that he moved abroad and became a professional engineer well established in his field. This song was written by him when he toured to coxsbazar with his friends in his versity days. This song celebrates him and 40 years of warfaze
Considering education and profession: The aged man, Babna Karim, who was singing completed his Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with a grade of 3.98 out of 4.00 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He joined as a faculty teacher at BUET. Then he went to the USA for his Masters in Industrial Engineering. He completed his Masters with a perfect grade of 4.00 out of 4.00 from Texas Tech University!! He is now a professional engineer at Honeywell company. And, He now lives in Houston, USA with his family.
While listening to the Bengali version of this timeless song by Babna Karim, one may read the English translation of the Bengali lyrics posted by Coke Studio, Bangla: May all the lights dim down to darkness Only, let them stay awake - Those faraway stars May all the words quieten to dead silence Only, let this ocean stay Along with me ... Ahaa Ahaa... Ahaa... May all pains be swept away By a storm of bliss Let my heart be filled with Simple serene dreams Deep down in my soul, with a startled stare The eternity is standing motionless right here Ahaa... Ahaa... On the seashore of white sands In the careless breeze, With guitar in my hands Silence is now shattered into shards Strumming wild, I cry out in amazing passion As if the diamonds, rubies & emeralds Together, in the heart of the ocean Weaving sublime patterns with A wonderful love! Timeless Love!
Sunjoy, Babna, Russell Ali, Kamal, Tipu are the founding band members of Warfaze we know of. First generation of Warfaze fans are obsessed with these guys. Attending their live shows were quite an experience. Sunjoy was a superior and authoritative frontman on stage. Sunjoy, an extremely high pitched vocal with ability to sing in rustic lower notes, set the template of other Warfaze vocals. He is now a banker. Russell Ali is now a music producer in LA. Worked with a few famous American musicians, played guitar with Limp Bizkit for short period of time. Originally Warfaze, Rockstrata (another legendary band), In Dhaka (one hit wonder) and Aces (BassBaba's band) wanted to release a mixed album together before disbanding (many of them were going abroad for studies). If Babna did not come up with many original compositions in the last moment, Warfaze would not have a separate album and be disbanded. Drummer Tipu single handedly kept on going with Warfaze after other four members pursued with higher studies and professional careers. Tipu, at the same time, was part of another great melodious pop rock band called Winning. They also have some timeless creations. 2nd generation Warfaze fans are obsessed with Mizan and Oni. Mizan was chosen for the band because his vocal textures and range matched a bit with Sunjoy. Warfaze is having long legacy. Many famous musicians like Bassbaba, Russell Ali's bother Rommel Ali (an amazing piano player) also worked with Warfaze. Yet Sunjoy, Russell Ali, Babna created illusive legacy for themselves. Kamal was and still is one of the best guitarists of the country. Look how he is playing with his damaged finger.
International popularity of Bangladeshi metal bandsFor example, Warfaze was ranked 5th in "Best Hard Rock Bands" on TheTopTens. Sometimes they pushed even further and ranked 4th, surpassing classic hard rock bands like Aerosmith, Queen, Bon Jovi and Van Halen.
In earlier some bands introduced the heavy metal genre in Bangladesh. Most of the people consider Warfaze as the first heavy metal band in Bangladesh. Though they made lots of heavy metal songs , on the other hand they made lots of soft rock and melodic songs like Jedin, mone pore, Tomake etc . Obak Bhalobasha is one of them.
The last comment of @Jola was really fantastic. Just realized after you told, did not think of that while listening to this song, it was a 7-minute long song, how time passed that 7 minutes gone, did not realize, I was hypnotized, in a daze into the song, your expression while the song ended was exactly the same as me. Surprised or out of my hypnosis state when it's ended all of a sudden. Truly it is said that Music has no language, and no boundaries, you are a true listener. I will give all the credit to Arnob amazing and talented musician for this arrangement and its entire team for visualization and sets. Excellent teamwork.
This is actually a soft rock song. A very popular song among the band music lovers in Bangladesh for 32 years. You can listen to the original version of Obak Bhalobasha to compare and feel it more intensely.
Being bengali, bengali rock is my all time fav, the difference i find is bengali rock focus very much on lyrics along with composition Fossils is my current favorite band
Wow, yola, you actually do a lot of research before reacting a video!! How you were describing what warfaze is, felt like you knew them for a long time.!! I love that
"Nandita on the instrument..." she is not Nandita. Her name is Jannatul Ferdous Akbor, she is a choir/ background singer from season 1. She is on the instrument in this song. Nandita is a different person. I have noticed you mistook Jannat as Nandita before 😂.
Although they are a heavy metal band, this song is not a heavy metal one. But you can check them out if you want to hear Bangladeshi heavy metal song. Our heritage of heavy metal and hard rock songs are really enriched.
Metallica is a metal band but has song like Nothing Else Matter. Warfaze is a metal band but they do Have some soft rock songs. You can listen to Naa or Hotasha to feel Their heaviness
Good day dear Jola. Another heart-warming reaction from You ! This is more of a progressive rock number rather than a heavy metal number, I would say. I think you will hear more band numbers in Coke Studio Season 3, in the coming days.
I kinda feel a bit sorry for you Because at first you were raving about heavy metal Bangla band but when you actually hear the song it's it's anything but heavy metal. But the song is a timeless masterpiece ❤ There is nothing to unlike about it. Pure goosebumps ❤
Fun fact, Warfaze is the number 5 band in the world. This song was, I think realized in 1995... Or in that time frame...loved your reaction Tati(Jola) ... ❤❤❤ From Bangladesh...
Fun fact…lololol…by what’s metric? What is a number 5 band? Number 5 heaviest, number 5 most awesome, number 5 by average shoe size? What makes them number 5 and not number 4? Why not just say they’re a fantastic band and leave it at that? Why do they need validation in some (wacky) ranking?
Why don't you use headset for better experience? You will get closer to every song after getting their music details 🤍 Thanks for the compliment... #Visit_Bangladesh
I recommend you to listen "bose achi eka" by warfaze, you will realize that they aint got enough branding due to they were from 3rd world country back in 1980

I started listening to this song from 1996 when i was 7 years old and still listening, but it never gets old.
Amazing how Some songs have been with us for majority of our lives
This is one of the most iconic songs of Warfaze and the flute section is one of those timeless melodies. Watching from Finland :)
I really liked the flute section!

Love your reactions jola ❤️
they didn't change anything from original.
only added some fusion
The long intro guitar solo is missing from the original one. That guitar part is the most epic part of that song. But sadly it’s not included here
You are an amazing and real music listener so far I see...if you wanna visit Bangladesh, you are most welcome.... thank you so much from Bangladesh ❤️
Warfaze has entertained it’s listeners with this timeless classic for last forty years. It will keep entertaining them for many more years.

Obak Bhalobasha - Warfaze
Astonishing Love
shob aalo nibhe jak andhare
May all the light fade to darkness
sudhu jege thak oi durer tarara
Where the only ones awake are those faraway stars
shob shobdo theme jak nistobdhotay
May all the words trail off into silence

Where the only thing I hear is this ocean next to me

May all the pain be erased into stillness
hridoy bhore jak ostitter anonde
May the heart be filled with the bliss of existence
hridoy gobhire obak drishtite, thomke danriyecche mohakaal ekhane
The deepest part of the heart is surprised by a sudden vision of eternity
shubhro balir shoikote
On the beach of white sand
elomelo batashe, guitar haate
In a random breeze, guitar in hand
nistobdhota chouchir
The silence is shattered
unmaad jhonkaare kaandi obak shukher kanna
In the mad ringing of a sudden flood of tears of happiness
jeno chuni heera panna shagorer buke,

obak bhalobashay
Like a sacred design of precious jewels in the heart of the ocean
Created by an astonishing love
shob aalo nibhe jak andhare
May all the light fade to darkness
sudhu jege thak oi durer tarara
Where the only ones awake are those faraway stars
shob shobdo theme jak nistobdhotay
May all the words trail off into utter silence
sudhu jege thak ei shagor amar pashe
Where the only thing I hear is this ocean next to me

May all trouble be carried off in a storm of bliss
