So Sleepwalking happens in Dream’s head, and what it is is Nightmare trying to take over Dream’s body, with which he is successful. Then Night mare goes on to what Dream wouldn’t: have his revenge. But once Nightmare becomes a real thing, he made a device that keeps him in control, his spear. That’s why Technoblade had to destroy it to separate Dream and Nightmare. But doing so wouldn’t just separate them, it would make Nightmare a completely different organism. But he was still connected to Dream, so killing him killed Dream as well. But unfortunately for Dream, Nightmare had a plan to torture Dream in case this happened. The grey Dream we see throughout the videos is not Dream’s current personality, which is fighting Nightmare’s control over his body the entire time. Grey Dream is instead Dream after he has died, who has been forced to eternally watch him get what he wanted: revenge on his friends. Mic drop!!!

The reason that techno only has one part of the song to fight nightmare is bc in every other fight they didn't use everything they had until after they lost the first half. Technoblade is not one to hold back, and dream was done with it and gave it everything so they got 1 song.
I think the saddest part of the ending is that if Techno had turned around he would have seen Dream's spirit peacefully floating through the grass, but he didn't.

This is my plot for this series: Dream lost the final manhunt against his friends and it has caused him to be depressed. Then Nightmare appears and wants to help Dream get revenge on the hunters, but Dream refuses because they were still his friends and he thinks it’s not worth killing. However, Nightmare would not accept Dream’s decline and corrupts Dream to kill the hunters himself. He manages to kill Sapnap and BBH, and he tries to kill Dream’s rival: Technoblade. Technoblade heard about Nightmare’s plan and tries to stop him. While fighting Nightmare, Dream tells Techno his weakness which was to destroy Nightmare’s weapon. Techno snaps Nightmare’s weapon and releases Dream out of Nightmare’s trance. And in a sacrifice, Dream kills Nightmare to spare Technoblade’s life.
I like that it kind of seems like Bad and Sapnap are from the Minecraft manhunt series, and when the get teleported somewhere to fight him it was kind of an everyday thing. The fights were never lethal, just something that they did normally. But with Nightmare possessing Dream, Dream was way too powerful for either Sapnap or Bad to kill him especially since Sapnap and Bad weren't aiming to kill, and Nightmare was. When Nightmare killed them, and used their deaths to power him further. When he got to Technoblade, the photo gave Dream enough power to temporarily overpower Nightmare, and told Techno how to defeat Nightmare by destroying Nightmare's source of power, the red scepter. Once the scepter was destroyed, Dream used all of his power he had left to destroy Nightmare forever. Doing that used up every bit of power Dream had though, chasing him to die once Nightmare had been defeated. I loved this series so much, and I think it bas an amazing ark!
No they did have the intent to kill though and Nightmare vs dream both had the intent to kill each other its just that every power dream used at there first fight is that He transformed into his god form while this also gave nightmare time to transform into his own god form surpassing Dream using all his power. The black nightmare form is above dreams full power god form since Nightmare beat dream without being HIT ONCE while techno and bad gave nightmare some trouble who was much more powerful than before. Nightmare also transformed because after defeating dream first time When dream tried to get up and transform again Nightmare had control of his body we can see it by Nightmare having red eyes once defeating dream. Dream is below nightmare even standard nightmare not controlling his body nigthmare controlling his body is overkill but Dream is above standard nightmare who is not controlling his body once dream transformed into his god form in the end Nightmare got rekt I also think nightmare controlling his body will lose but nightmare controlling his body + god form he was able to transform into that god form because he controlled dreams body otherwise he couldnt when he tried to he failed. Nightmare controlling dreams body + His god form is above dreams all out form
