- In the first part of a multi-part series Team iRayUSA and Night Crew's Chris Robinson introduce the InfiRay Outdoor RICO HD 1280 RS75, the first commercially available 1280x1024 resolution thermal sight ever created.
Can Chris take a coyote at 500 yards, or farther?
Find out the real capabilities of the RICO HD as the team puts it through the ringer and pushes it to it's limits.
The Rugged Infrared Compact Optic(RICO) HD RS75 is the first commercially available 1280x1024 resolution thermal sight ever created. You read that right, the legendary thermal image quality produced by a High Definition(1280x1024) thermal sensor is finally commercially available to night hunters in the form of an advanced weapon sight. The RICO HD RS75 has an incredible 1,310,720 pixels processed by InfiRay’s proprietary MATRIX III algorithm to create an image so clear, it is almost unbelievable.
It’s been more than a decade since the leap from 320x240 resolution to 640x512 resolution thermal sensor technology, but the inexorable advancement to 1280x1024 resolution has been approaching quietly in the background. As night hunters we have always wanted more performance out of our optics, but the problem was we couldn’t do that with existing technology which had reached its limits. Through years of research and development by an engineering team of over 500 devoted to sensor innovation, InfiRay Outdoor has unleashed the capabilities that night hunters have only dreamed of.

Why hunt coyotes?
Coyotes are presently the most abundant livestock predators in western North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. For example, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, coyotes were responsible for 60.5% of the 224,000 sheep deaths attributed to predation in 2004. The total number of sheep deaths in 2004 comprised 2.22% of the total sheep and lamb population in the United States, which, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service USDA report, totaled 4.66 million and 7.80 million heads respectively as of July 1, 2005. Because coyote populations are typically many times greater and more widely distributed than those of wolves, coyotes cause more overall predation losses. The United States government agents routinely shoot, poison, trap, and kill about 90,000 coyotes each year to protect livestock.
Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill.
In the absence of hunting pressure on coyotes practiced by rural people, urban coyotes are losing their fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally or unintentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children. Non-rabid coyotes in these areas sometimes target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten.
Fellas, Tyler, Chris, this is Solid... Hats off to the ingenuity of the product, and this production.
Are you guys going to have one before winter?
@@trentonptacek3237 Yes. To use and to sell... did you want me to get one allocated for you?
@@trentonptacek3237 My team will Yes! You want me to reserve one for ya?
@@ONEILLOPS haha I wish! Just excited to see more footage with it
First off there couldn’t be a better dude to do this video! Night Crew👍. This scope is amazing. Unfortunately at that price point I will never be able to have one.
What an absolutely incredible video. The visual effect as well as the audio and selected soundtracks really set this apart as one of the best marketing videos I’ve ever seen for a truly revolutionary product. While I will never be able to afford the new thermal scope (I have two daughters in college) I did want to relay my thoughts and congratulations to the marketing team at IRay as well as the executives for a presentation that is not only informative but actually makes me want to watch it repeatedly. Well done 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great explanation of the 1280 resolution benefits hunters. It sure is expensive but that's typically the case for the latest and greatest tech products. Glad to see InfiRay raise the bar for thermal in the hunting community and open the door for this next gen thermal for hunters.
Absolutely excellent video to display the quality and capabilities of the newest thermal on the market. Clarity is awesome.
Nice one InfiRay. 👍
I will have to sell my used car, dirt bike & possibly a kidney to afford this optic hahaha. Beautiful tech!
I have the RH50 and paid the $6k and it’s worth that and I could see $9k or $10k but I feel that Iray is just pricing it because it’s the first and there taking advantage of that instead of making it affordable for the average hunting man
military contracts my man
That's exactly what they're doing. And I regards to military contracts. They could easily have two price points...like when doctors, it companies are charging insurance companies for procedures or products, versus charging citizens. Same operating procedure when selling the military something. Make a slight "military grade" adjustment...and double the price. Fo I like that in principal? Hell no. But if it'll keep my prices down... alrighty then.
$18,000 scope. My truck isn’t even worth that 😢
lol
It is a big leap in performance..
Pricing reflects their quote "we have no competition"... I'll pay 12k. 12 is fair. I'll be saving up.
Made in China
Poor boy, borrow some shekels from the schlomos at the bank
Hopefully I can get a look through one of these units. awesome vid
What an excellent video👍I feel like I'm watching a movie. The video is awesome and the thermal scope has such an incredible clarity.
That clarity is insane
This tech in quad nods would be nuts
Thank you for the video.
Great video wish I had the 18 k to get one. I'm still learning the sightmark wraith 2-16x28 with the IR light set up. Yes I'm just getting into night hunting. I made extra battery packs for the scope. It will kill 4 AA batteries just sitting turned off. How long do the batteries in this scope last? What kind does it take? And does it have an external power supply for it?
Best quality I have seen in a thermal
I could never afford this. That's why we need the competition to bring that price down to something even close to affordable.
Where the hell is Part 2??
Love it!! Great for the industry and hunters alike. Unfortunately, it’s so new, the $18,000 price point is too much for most to swallow.
Most in this case I would constitute as a relative term. Most civilians could buy better than a beater for a daily commute. This is like government level pricing.
Incredible clarity. I bet they are not cheap. I remember my early military days with Starlight scopes, before IR came along, it was like looking through snow and fog on a rifle that was now so heavy and cumbersome, you needed a crane. Seeing in the dark has progressed a long way.
Outdoor legacy has it listed for 18,000 ...... so yeah not cheap. i will stick with the 384 models from AGM
@@zx10bk wait 3 years, 1280 will be $5000...😎
@@EroticOnion23you think so?
That is an awesome scope. Hope in a few years, the price will come down.
Fantastic piece of kit, price is high but not as high as I was expecting, I was thinking around the $20k mark
Need that to push prices down on lesser equipment
18K maybe if I was living in Jurassic park, covered in meat juice, and was tasked with defending my family
When does part 2 come out?
OMG what a scope.
I would have to sell BOTH kidneys to afford that unit.
My dream scope!
When 60 Hz version will come out?
Minute mark 12:32 of this video
LISTEN to the Man !!!!
I see so much misinformation and speculation online regarding what scopes can and can’t do and sometimes user error is taken as gospel by folks who have never held or used a scope.
I make it a point to buy a scope and use it and make my own determination on its performance capabilities and then sale it - IF I lose money it’s almost like renting the unit and I consider it worth the charge to have first hand knowledge.
This scope would certainly be a bit more difficult to do this with - I understand that - what I’m saying is listen to his advice and take mine and do this with the lower cost thermals and thank me (us) later!
I looking forward when this kind of image quality is affordable for the average hunter in some years
Brother! It´s cool...
Where is part two?
Good video but clickbait! Not even a part 2 yet🙄
Hey guys where is part 2?
Guess I’ll wait till I win the lottery😏
I don’t understand how it could see reflections on water?
I think this as a dedicated scanner is the way I’d use it!
Dedicated scanner? 😂Whaaaaat! Pay attention dude!
@@shawnshannon1635 I am 100% paying attention. The purpose of me buying a 1280 as a dedicated rifle scope would be to have a 1280 image at a base mag that I prefer which is 3x-4x. For that reason, I think this as a scanner outside of its size would be ideal being you are on a scanner 90% of the time. Again, this is for ME not everyone.
For that much, you would need to add night vision with thermal overlay capabilities
So I wouldn't consider myself an expert in thermal and night vision....but I'm having a hard time thinking of the need for traditional night vision...with thermal THIS vivid. Can you enlighten me?? I feel like I can see literally everything out there in the dark....plus I can see heat too.
Thanks for taking the time to explain what I'm apparently missing. 🙏
I still stand behind you lost me at 2x. As a coyote hunter I want that resolution at 3-3.5x magnification. I scan with a handheld and rarely look through the rifle optic until I'm shooting. So I'm going to be jumping on magnification to shoot and immediately lose that 1280 sweetness. I agree it accommodates a larger crowd. The equalizer of resolution is optical magnification.
On the pig you missed(11 26) if you slow the playback down in setting you probably gave its chest hairs a trim lol,but what a scope,a spotter with this tech would be amazing
How can I shove one of these in a M48?
Cant wait to see the 2nd mortgage i have to take out to afford this bad boy...
$18K. Ouch. Great video and this scope is absolutely awesome. Give me a winning lotto ticket and I’ll by a dozen; one for each buddy.
Let's be friends! And let's find you this lotto ticket!
I only need $36k, I don't have many friends! 😂
很棒的视频。这让我很震惊
Price on site says 18k
soon enough there will be 2560 and 5120's at 60/120/144/240 hz maybe even higher for slow motion capability's at that point because why not anything can be possible when you work hard enough on something and have another force to drive you to keep doing your best
Part 2?!
Part Two dudes???!!!
Seriously?! I can even see the blood splatter bursting out!
Great scope!
18,000 dollars?? Good luck!
Just like the dragon skin body armor..
Great product! Then they priced themselves right out of the market!!
Patience grasshopper, it'll come down in time, especially when the next great thing comes out.
@@rohlfing63 or the Chinese get a hold of it.........
Part2?
Part 2?
~720p is not really that HD... But very nice for being a thermal!
Only $18,000?!
I’ll buy one when I hit the lottery.
I thought the 1280 was round on the two sides.
Magnification isn't a 640 thing. 2x is ok but if you restrict your max digital resolution to keep things pretty, you're not helping coyote hunters. With 1280 a 12-14x digital magnifier would be flipping awesome. It's not something we want to shoot on but it gives you a bigger animal to shoot out past 300. I ran into the same issue with the Rico series in both 384 and 640. Not comparing the Halo for any other reason other than target size I am taking a 3.5x base mag and multiplying it x8 for those 300 yard shots. I'm not against your 2x, I'm against your top end. My shots are always going to be easier at 28x. And a dead coyote means more to me than the pixelated image I shot it with. If I'm wrong, please explain. I'm ok with being wrong.
The RS75 has up to 16X digital, so 32X top end. Combined with a 75mm lens it’s the best long range scope, by quite a bit.
@@iRayUSA Thank you! I have been asking this for a week and nobody has given me this answer. All video of the 1280 has not shown what it looks like on max magnification. I have asked techs countless times to add a higher digital multiplyer to the Rico series. Deaf ears. I wish you guys the best. It's a beautiful unit and I hope manufacturer costs could bring it down to us fixed income recreation hunter prices. Thank you for the clarification. Wish you guys the best.
You gotta put this scope on an airgun pcp and do some dairy farm pesting man that would be amazing
It’s the best thing I’ve ever seen but who has 18000 to spend on a hunting scope
It’ll be 10+ years before the average guy can afford one as well lol!
Yeah nice, that doesn't look like it will get affordable enough in this life lol
I tried to get my wife into hunting for 10 years and she wanted nothing to do with it. She hated all of the work that goes into it.
When she found out she could mount a gun on a tripod, see the animals and shot them without a chance of seeing her and then walk a maximum of 200 yards she was all in.
Now she can’t get enough of it! She convinced two of her friends to go and they love it too. The three of them go out
Whatever happened to knowing your target and what’s beyond it. Nice farm house in the background on your coyote kill. Hope the farmer had his daughters tucked away in the basement. Amazing how normally safe shooters loose their judgement when hunting at night. 😢
18k. Lord have mercy. Not even I can hide that much from the wife....
I wish arken would make one of these for 400🤣🤪🎯
Sorry
For what I need a music?
Nice scope but at 18k I'll stick with my ATN 4k Pro
20k? thanks, but I'll wait a while.
Serious Athletes Only….the field is yourz
Too expensive for civilians!
$18k hahahaha
3:43 what the hell!
Fox eated by gator?
I want one, but $17000.00 is out of my league.
Looks like the military PAS13C is only 500... compared to the 8910 they spent to research it.
Only 18k... Can get a "truck" for that...
I wish if that was sub 5k$ , its way out of my budget unfortunately,
I knew I shouldn't have watched this damn video. It's insanely amazing. Like boner worthy levels of beauty. It's like test driving the Ferrari you damn well know you can't afford...and then driving back home in your '99 Taurus. It's a dumb idea.
But I'd have to get a divorce, to even buy one at the 1/2 off price of $9,000!!
Now, don't get me wrong....I'd totally sign those papers as fast as I could, if it meant getting one of these at $9k. But yeah... that'll never happen.
У животных даже нет шанса на выживание.
So how many of you have $18,000 for a scope?
When other brands will follow, and that is just a matter of time. The price wil fall down ! Only now the verry rich people can ofort them, like the firs Gen 2+ in the past. Bud now it is for the most people affordable, maybe still expensive, bud I think it is in reach !
Still doesnt hold a candle to NVision at 640
Hmmm. I think looking through the eyepiece might be a different story. And I have a Nox.
Who is buying a kidney??? I got 2 only need one.
Or chris, wanna sell your Rico 640?
Only $15,999 plus tax. Yep. Go right out and get one.
2x base 😔 3 would be more useful...

All this video for 200yds. Really?
😅
Only $16,000?? I'll take 3....wtf
Nice, but for the price, I'll buy a new truck first.
what new truck? I just bought one 67k lmfao what world do you get a 18 k truck for . 18 k in my area gets your a 2014 chevy silverado 100k plus miles

Anyone wanna let me borrow 18k or should I wait 20 years till it's 2500$ and obsolete. Well the government won't let you have them for long.
this guy is a legit weirdo
At $17,999 you are out of my budget by a factor of 36. This is not an optic that anybody I know could buy.
What a freaking joke that it's not even 4k resolutions with only childish 2X power. Where 50X for the reaching power?
And you wants over $19,000.00!
base mag is 2x, do you got a peanut brain? It got 16x digital magnification
It's a rich man's scope, there's 10 times as many of us poor people that will go buy a 3 to 4 thousand dollar scope and get just as many animals. Your competitors will out sell you because they can afford there products
MADE IN CHINA??
This is just one, long, boring advertisement. Dislike. Delete.
Please stop discussing base magnification. It is a subjective impression and depends heavily in display size and eye relief.
You should be focusing on 2 values, angle of view (e.g. in meters at 100m distance) and the DMR, the resolution of a single pixel. For the Rico (and I don't have the datasheet yet) the DMR is supposed to be 1.6cm per pixel at 100m. This is a result of pixel pitch and focal length, not resolution. Compare it to the Pulsar Thermion XP50 series, they provide a DMR of 3.4cm per pixel at 100m. What does that mean? if you look at an 'rectangular animal' (easier to calculate) with 1m x 50cm then the Pulsar shows 385 pixels. The Rico shows 1953 pixels. That is 5 times as many.
Interestingly: the field of view is quite the same with approx. 21m at 100m. THIS is a result of resolution, of number of pixels.
And this is why both have about the same base magnification but way different performance. Aside from other factora like sharpness and noise, of course.
So please, with sugar on top, stop discussing base magnification. Thank you
By the way: amazing video! love it
No shit...what a joke...makes me not want to even try it...I will get good rife bunch of ammo...
