    I'm selective cap meaning that I agree that these animals shouldn't be in captivity BUT if we release them, they'll die. Majority of the orcas at SeaWorld have been born at there. they wouldn't know how to survive in the wild. I like how they moved their show to a more natural and informative one, telling the audience about their natural counterparts.

    • @Behindthethrills
      @Behindthethrills  5 лет назад +1

      Harumi Orcas The majority of the orcas have been born at SeaWorld at this point. And the others have been at SeaWorld so long that they likely would never survive either. They aren’t mistreated in any way, and are actually in better shape than a lot of household pets. The real focus should be the animals in tells wild, those are the ones we really need to worry about as they are dying at an alarming rate

    Hey +Behind the Thrills, you seem to have done your research on Orca's and on SeaWorld and all, but I have a question. Would you say it's cruel to have these Orca's in such small containers? I'm not saying we should free them into the ocean, I'm very against that. But I do think these tanks are too small for these creatures. What are your thoughts?

    • @Behindthethrills
      @Behindthethrills  7 лет назад +11

      Stacher. ($) My personal opinion is that most people who raise that question are under the wrong impression when it comes to the size of those tanks. Activists use the term "bathtub", and your first thought is you sitting in your tub in your house. The actual comparison is more along the lines of your medium sized dog in a three bedroom house, enough space but not enough to run and play full blast. Here's the part where you say "but research has shown that orcas can swim up to 100 miles a day, putting them in a smaller tank is keeping them from doing that". Two things to remember there-1. Most of these animals (soon to be all) have been born at SeaWorld, they know nothing of swimming that much, because they've never had to. 2. The whales that swim that far do so as they're looking for food. They swim that far because if they don't, they will starve. As you hopefully know, SeaWorld feeds their animals quite well. The biggest problem I can see with the size of the tanks is the amount of animals. That could definitely make the tanks seem smaller...but bluntly put, a large portion of these animals are over 20 years old. Life expectancy is anywhere between 25 and 50, with the average ranging about 30-35 years. Now that SeaWorld has said they will no longer breed the whales, that problem will correct itself. It's kind of sick to think of, but that's the reality of the situation. One more point to make, is that SeaWorld had the Blue World project, which would expand the tanks. Thanks to the activists in California, those plans were shot down...so the tank sizes will remain the same. Thanks for being civil and I hope I answered your question.

      Iggyking123 The Thing is that most of the animals were born at SeaWorld, so that is their natural environment. Also, they were going to expand the tanks and make them more natural, but activists caused the council to vote down that measure and keep the tanks the same size. And the ocean is far more polluted than it was 50 years ago. The orcas are facing tons of problems from that, including depletion of their food sources...so they have to swim up to 100 miles a day looking for food. When they find a source, they stay in the same place. For the whales at SeaWorld, being released into the ocean is a death sentence

      lbest7290 Not true. Remember Keiko? He was set free and died. He was born in the wild. There is tons of evidence that suggests animals born in captivity will not survive in the wild. You blame SeaWorld for these animals yet you want them to die?

    • @Behindthethrills
      @Behindthethrills  7 лет назад +7

      lbest7290 Read the book killing Keiko. You'll see that animal rights activists like yourself are wrong, and more about money. You'll also see they will kill animals just to say they were right. It's pathetic and dangerous

      I don't believe that Keiko died because he was in the ocean, since captive Orcas die of pneumonia all the time. You should read Freeing Keiko, if you haven't already. Oh my. I thought I would never get into these comment 'discussions'. :) They're quite addicting, aren't they?

      I'm not an activist. An advocate if you will, but I'm not quite worthy of that term either, because I don't do anything useful. I've never been to a protest, and I don't donate or sign petitions. (Lazy, aren't I? :D ) Oh, actually, I did post pictures of Lolita on my social media a few times.

    Complete trash. Thought there would be improvements but this is just as bad as the other show. These whales deserve an actual natural exhibit. The Atlanta aquarium can do it, why not seaworld

    • @Behindthethrills
      @Behindthethrills  6 лет назад +2

      ChildLikeEmpress Very good question. The answer is because the activists had their way and the measure to not only expand the tanks but also make them more naturalistic was voted down. SeaWorld San Diego has to get approval by the California Coastal commission for everything they do. Because peta and other idiot activists put immense amounts of pressure on the coastal commission, that expansion which would have done just what you’re complaining about, was denied.

    How come SeaWorld haters are so ignorant. Orcas can’t look sad or frown and no, there dorsal fin isn’t bent because of depression or some shit like that.

    • @katylepetsos7512
      @katylepetsos7512 5 лет назад

      Scientifically speaking, the dorsal fin doesn’t stop growing which makes it heavy, i saw some like that in the wild so it’s proof that it’s not captivity that makes them flop.

      Same. I literally went there earlier this week. And I can confirm the new show is boring. I came to Sea World to watch Beautiful Whales Preform, not to watch a Documentary.

      Of course because you guys want them to perform for your entertainment. Guess what? They're not on planet earth to entertain us

    • @toatoons9437
      @toatoons9437 5 лет назад

      @@tiarahelaine3949 I know they're not here to entertain us. But the Creator's of this new show could have made it more interesting. To me, the big screen showing us crap all the time was distracting. I get that they want to educate us about the whales, But this show doesn't catch the eyes of children (and I think it's very important that our future generations know how to respect these wonderful creatures), and I think the older show did it better. And to be honest, I'm perfectly fine with the whales performing. It's not hurting them, and they actually enjoy it.

      Behind The Thrills doesn’t change the fact that they are suffering since they can’t act on their natural born instinct .

      Ale Munoz their natural instinct is changed...because they never hunted for their food, they were given food. That is now their natural instinct, to rely on humans.
