Critical realism and thematic analysis, making sense of qualitative data via depth ontology.

‘A realist approach to thematic analysis: making sense of qualitative data through experiential, inferential and dispositional themes’.
Thematic analysis has become highly popular amongst researchers. However, methodologically, it can be bound between the binary positions of grounded TA and neo-positivistic paradigms. This presentation explains a way of navigating this analytical fissure by revindicating ontology and inserting the three domains of reality. By referencing a practical piece of research, this talk explains how themes may be grounded in the experiential, inferential, and dispositional domains of reality.
