Idk about similar sound. But equal talent I'd say Spirit Box. They are really great band. Also a female vocalist. They have more of an ethereal sound but a great and talented band also.
I'd say Jinjer is just unique and therefore hard to match with anything but there's a Finnish band "Ikinä" which shares some similar features with Jinjer. Not just one but two kickass female leads. Check out song "Rituaali".
10:12 I tried to count it (even tho i'm a newbie with time signatures) and to me it sounds like, 3/4, 2/4 (so 5/4), then 4/4, and then I get lost at the very end 10:17 because my mind is thinking about the 3/4~2/4'ish measure again. So... yeah, I guess it's still being played by feel at the very end. It could also be a 7/4? 3/4, 2/4, 2/4? Idk, damn you Jinjer!!! Btw loved the reaction and the breakdown, keep it up!
Excellent comments dude. I'm all about the prog too. Brain dead = boring. Thanks for confirming my feeling that the ending of Vortex has no time signature. It's played by feel. I love the structure of the song. No part repeated, each part flowing into the next. No verse or chorus whatsoever. The whole thing seems to swirl around that crazy instrumental middle 8 that's exactly in the middle of the song. They seem to play out the title and theme of their songs lyrically, melodically, structurally, sonically, tonally, rhythmically, and any other -ly that they can come up with. I'm here for it! What's that band you refer to twice here? RX band?
RX Bandits. They are a ska/progressive Rock Band from LA. Definitely an acquired taste but awesome nonetheless. Everything you mentioned about Jinjer is spot on and also why I love them so much!
Horlivka, their hometown, was finally reconquered by the ukrainian army nine years after the russian occupation that forced them to move out and leave their families behind. Since you were analysing the song structure, here's a fun fact that you didn't notice during your reaction: this song doesn't have the typical song structure, it's a bunch of different "two bar" parts that are played only once, "glued" together with seamless transitions. It's not always obvious on a first listen, but now that you're aware of this feature, if you go back and listen to it again you'll hear it. 🙂
All of there songs, for the most part are like that. And I mentioned it in my reaction actually. Through the remark of composition, they have to worry about every part flowing into the next because there is not a typical “3 chord structure” like many other bands do.
@@mcflyjp - I'm not referring to the chord structure, all their (not there) other songs have the typical song structure (intro, verso, chorus, bridge, etc), not in this particular order but they all have it. This one doesn't, it's either all verses or all choruses. I guess it's up to the listener to decide.

The order compiled here is not 100% arranged like the album playlist, because sometimes there are no music videos, or they are not good enough quality for me to list here! I started adding to the list, step by step a few years ago with the available songs, qualities and release dates. I'll probably add to the list next year, i.e. more likely at the end / autumn of 2024 when Jinjer starts in the studio with the planned new album!

Yeah they are the band that I am the most excited to listen to. If anyone can recommend other bands with a similar sound and equal level of talent.
Idk about similar sound. But equal talent I'd say Spirit Box. They are really great band. Also a female vocalist. They have more of an ethereal sound but a great and talented band also.
I'd say Jinjer is just unique and therefore hard to match with anything but there's a Finnish band "Ikinä" which shares some similar features with Jinjer. Not just one but two kickass female leads. Check out song "Rituaali".
Definitely the GOAT. You must see Mediator off this same album. Insane. Need a seat belt!

10:12 I tried to count it (even tho i'm a newbie with time signatures) and to me it sounds like, 3/4, 2/4 (so 5/4), then 4/4, and then I get lost at the very end 10:17 because my mind is thinking about the 3/4~2/4'ish measure again. So... yeah, I guess it's still being played by feel at the very end. It could also be a 7/4? 3/4, 2/4, 2/4? Idk, damn you Jinjer!!!

Thanks for confirming my feeling that the ending of Vortex has no time signature. It's played by feel. I love the structure of the song. No part repeated, each part flowing into the next. No verse or chorus whatsoever. The whole thing seems to swirl around that crazy instrumental middle 8 that's exactly in the middle of the song. They seem to play out the title and theme of their songs lyrically, melodically, structurally, sonically, tonally, rhythmically, and any other -ly that they can come up with. I'm here for it!

RX Bandits. They are a ska/progressive Rock Band from LA. Definitely an acquired taste but awesome nonetheless.

Horlivka, their hometown, was finally reconquered by the ukrainian army nine years after the russian occupation that forced them to move out and leave their families behind.
Since you were analysing the song structure, here's a fun fact that you didn't notice during your reaction: this song doesn't have the typical song structure, it's a bunch of different "two bar" parts that are played only once, "glued" together with seamless transitions. It's not always obvious on a first listen, but now that you're aware of this feature, if you go back and listen to it again you'll hear it. 🙂
All of there songs, for the most part are like that. And I mentioned it in my reaction actually. Through the remark of composition, they have to worry about every part flowing into the next because there is not a typical “3 chord structure” like many other bands do.
@@mcflyjp - I'm not referring to the chord structure, all their (not there) other songs have the typical song structure (intro, verso, chorus, bridge, etc), not in this particular order but they all have it. This one doesn't, it's either all verses or all choruses. I guess it's up to the listener to decide.
