Ok jesse i have some good recommendations for you. The first is Attack on Titan and the second is Assasination Classroom. i have read them both and they are really good. Also another good manga series is Ouran High School Host Club
I read and watched both assassination classroom and ouran highschool. Both are very good. Another good manga series is kimi ni todoke. Also Wandering Son is very good.
I really enjoy Seraph of the End because it's about demons vs vampires, and two brothers caught in between. I'm more interested in their stories and how they're going to survive when there isn't a "right" side and every one of the 3 groups are truly hurting humans.BTW - if you like the art of Children of the Whales you'd probably like the art of Tegami Bachi.
LorienKittyBooks omg I used to love that anime but I never had the books cus I was new to anime and tbh it’s the only anime I’ve watched (other than Pokemon) cus im not really interested in anime/manga but they were exceptions 😂🌸✨
I'm super surprised you don't have Saga. It's SO GOOD. Brutal, but amazing. On a much lighter note, you might like Lumberjanes if you liked Nimona (although it's not really written by Noelle Stevenson...she just helped with the development).
J.L. Knepp omw same! I haven't finished the manga, but fruits Basket is my all time favorite anime! I'm on 11, and already it's crazy how much the took out of the anime :(
Fullmetal Alchemist has everything! It's my second favourite story after Harry Potter. I have a question: What do you do with books you don't like? Do you give them all away / sell them / keep them? Does anyone have tips for how to create more space for books / bookshelves? Bookshelf-space is seriously lacking for me nowadays. It's so bad that I almost hope I don't like a book series, because if I do like it I would have to make room for it.
Why I think Manga is Better than Comics: - Artists don't change in the middle of an ongoing series. - One author, one series. Not a new voice every 6 issues. Love your videos Jesse i hope you make more manga related videos in the Future 😊👍.
Isn't that more common with comic compilations not graphic novels? I haven't read any graphic novels that have just switched authors in between volumes. Every example I can think of is actually just a volume of comics put together like Lumberjanes. Also, in general I find a lot of graphic novels lean towards stand alones, though that is changing somewhat. . .
I actually like when artists change. Yeah it's annoying if you really like an artist and they quit, but it usually helps with discovering new amazing artists. :)
I think you'd enjoy 'A Silent Voice' a LOT. I watched the anime, didn't know a manga existed. Will def buy it! Owari no Seraph is not really about the vampires you'd know. I think you might like it as well!
This manga series is rather old, but it is drawn by the same mangaka for Death Note and Bakuman. It's called Hikaru no Go, the premise might not sound thrilling, but it's oddly addictive.
Ohh great start to your manga collection! I rlly enjoyed reading Tokyo Ghoul and it's one of my favorites! I recommend getting Magi the Labyrinth of Magic and Black Butler. There rlly good manga series and rlly funny and action packed!
You HAVE to read Descender by Jeff Lemire!! It's a science fiction but the artstyle is amazing! It's all drawn in watercolor and the story is really heart warming!!! You get to follow this cute little android-boy and his little robot friend in this robot-hating world and it's really really good!! By far one of my fav comic series!! Oh and for manga tips you should totally look into Naoki Urasawa's works! Especially Monster and 20 Century Boys! Both are SUPEr intense, the stories themself are insane and you will never be able to guess what will happen next! I recommend you to start off with Monster tho because 20 century boys digs into the question what really makes you YOU and it can be a bit trippy and overwhelming if you are not used to Urasawa's works haha
Coming from someone who has around 30,000 comic books (mostly marvel), I completely agree with you that the Young Avengers series is one of my all-time favorites. All the rest of your Marvel collection is great as well. If you decide to start another series, I'd recommend the Ultimate Spider-Man series (most of the Ultimate books really). It is my all-time favorite and is fantastic. Takes place on an alternate earth to the Marvel Universe...basically it let Marvel reset and retell all of its main characters in the early 2000's. Great artwork and storytelling. Just great. Fan of the channel.
Oh my word, Starting Point is one of my favorite books! Not only does it appeal to me as someone who adores animation, but it also inspires me as a writer more than any book I've ever read. There's some solid advise in this book about creating characters and revising plots that I haven't heard anywhere else.
Haha saaammmeee ^_^ I have a Political Science test tomorrow... well technically 'today' since I'm watching it on 1:30 AM... and I just rewatched "A Monster Calls" because no one cares about school hahaha
If you like romance D.N. Angel and Ouran High School Host Club are series that I recommend. If you like action/adventure I suggest Fullmetal Alchemist, Cirque Du Freak, and if you don't mind a lot of gore, Attack on Titan is a good series as well. There are also Manga adaptations of classic novels. Some examples are Great Expectations, The Scarlet Letter, and Les Misérables. My personal favourite Manga is Yu-Gi-Oh, I just _love_ the character design.
Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman. Snotgirl. Delilah Dirk. Shattered Warrior. READ MONSTRESS ALREADY!!! Also echoing other people's comments: Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Lumberjanes, and as I noticed you didn't really have many DC comics: Batgirl (the burnside ones specifically with Cameron Stewart), and Watchmen.
You have to read Persepolis. Everyone has to read Persepolis. It's the same kind as Anne Frank's diary or I am malala but as a graphic novel and in Iran and it's one of the best graphic novel i read
great video, i love videos like these to spice up your channel 💕graphic novels are so underappreciated in the book community if you are looking for something light but interesting, i highly recommended Snow White with Red Hair (i know the title sounds really weird but what can ya do) I tend to like darker and more intricate stuff but this one provides the lightness that i need occasionally while still engaging me :) I know you aren’t a big fan of romance, and this one does have it, but I think that each character (especially the female lead) can still exist on their own as a strong character. i hope you find more graphic novels and manga to love ❤️❤️ keep being awesome jesse
I am so curios about Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer ,illustrated by Douglas Holgate, it's a graphic novel about Iko from Lunar Chronicles, can't wait to get my hands on it.
Season 3 of my hero academia, it’s trailer has just come out and it’s so good!! Really do recommend watch the anime too! Also Blue exorcist is just as good the manga and anime.
Yay, I've always wanted to see your whole manga/graphic novel/comic collection :) Reindeer Boy intrigues me, might have to check it out. I love Ms. Marvel!
I would recommend Dimension W, Itsuwaribito, and Anonymous Noise. Especially Itsuwaribito, I feel it isn't looked upon much but it's pretty good to me. Love watching your videos. They help me find new things to read, so thank you!😀
I recently read Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign and it seemed interesting and true it is not your typical vampire story. So we follow the main characters Yuichiro and Mikaela at the beginning. A virus much of humanity except those under 13. The survivors aka children are enslaved by vampires who are now dominating the world. During that time, Mikaela and Yuichiro were around 8 and had lived in an orphanage with other kids, all of them become livestock.
I'm currently watching seraph of the end anime and I'm really into it eventhough had my fun with vampires like 3 years ago and I don't really like stories about them anymore either. But I swear this is not about vampires as much as it is about friendship, revenge and family. :)
Lumberjanes is a comic series by the same author as nimona, so I’ll think you’ll enjoy it :) it’s about a group of friends getting into some fantastical adventures, I just picked it up so i don’t know too much yet but it seems very cool
Jesse, I’m not into vampires either and did the same thing and bought seraph of the end by accident but it ended up being one of my favorite mangas of all time. I still don’t like vampires but i highly suggest giving seraph of the end a try because you might end up really enjoying it like I did
I'm pleased about 2 things. A, I didn't know you had that many manga/comics and B, you said Hawkeye was one of your favourite comics and I'm very happy and pleased about that. I love this series so much and it's just hella underrated. To suggest something, if you like Vikings you should definitely check out Vinland Saga. Great story and great hardbacks for your shelf :)
I actually really enjoyed honor girl and the art style 😂 Amazing how opinions can vary so much! Love your shelves, makes me want to get more graphic novels :)
There need to be more of us who talk about graphic novels and manga! I'm def going to be checking out Children of the Whales now! You had me at Studio Ghibli!
You should read Akame ga Kill! It's about assassins and it's kind of similar in that aspect to Throne of Glass but it's still different. It's amazing though! I really have to continue with the series because I've only read the first and I really have to refresh my memory on that series. I don't really read manga or watch anime very often, but one anime I really liked is Parasyte and I think if you don't mind gore, you'd love that series.
Caroline Taylor uuuuuuh I will have to look up this one I love assassins books but I have never read any mangas or graphic books of any kind I will be trying this one because you made it sound awesome :)
I am aware this is a girly manga suggestion, but try out ‘ fushigi yugi’ when you get the chance, Jesse! It’s about a girl who gets sucked into a book called the universe of the four gods when she reads it one day, and she has to gather her ‘ celestial warriors ‘ to summon the god Suzaku after she becomes the priestess of suzaku to get back to her world. She also meets a boy after he attempts to rescue her and they have a romance throughout the series. There is much more to the manga than this though, and I’m sure someone else could have summed it up better than I did
If you loved Orange you'll love A Silent Voice (the film is amazing too!). Other series I recommend are Yona of the Dawn, Aoharu x Machine Gun, To Your Eternity, and Princess Jellyfish.
Read Yona of the Dawn. All time favorite. Love love love this manga series. It's about a princess who is cast out of her castle and her journey to become a warrior. Lots of action, romance, and friendship.
My Hero is SO GOOD, I'm on vol 9 rn and a big thought for me is that this is literally the exact opposite of Vicious which makes it even better for me.
Jesse, not sure if you know but Tokyo Ghoul has a second manga series. It's called Tokyo Ghoul Re. I haven't finished it yet but it's pretty good. It takes place 5 years after the first manga series. The characters from the first series are also in the second series along with some new characters.
I have watched seraph of the end and let me tell you it’s amazing even if you dislike vampires it will get you hooked right away!!!!!!!! I recommend it 100%
This is my first time seeing you and I enjoyed looking at your collection! You should look into a short manga series called Livingstone and the comic BatmanSuperman Annual #3 (each annual is a different story but this one is the most memorable comic for me)
How many times did Jesse say volume in this video
Jood it’s over 9,000
I was just wondering the same thing......
He said volume 133 times (yes, I counted)
Hahaha😂
@@maren1772 thanks
Manga you need to read:
-Attack on Titan
-Assassination Classroom
Ass class

Ok jesse i have some good recommendations for you. The first is Attack on Titan and the second is Assasination Classroom. i have read them both and they are really good. Also another good manga series is Ouran High School Host Club

ReaderWithACat - I have not watched it yet
OMG I WANT TO READ OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB BECAUSE I LOVED THE AMINE SO MUCH!!!
Attack on Titan yessssssssss

My favorite manga in high school was Fruits Basket. It's such a good manga series and I wished they had continued with the anime but what can we do.
J.L. Knepp omw same! I haven't finished the manga, but fruits Basket is my all time favorite anime! I'm on 11, and already it's crazy how much the took out of the anime :(
the wicked + the divine covers ARE SO PRETTY
what even is the word volume anymore

Seraph of the end is really really good! It doesn’t focus too much on the vampires is a good mix, the characters are so loveable
If you love Nimona I recommend lumberjanes written by Noelle Stevenson as well. They also had a crossover event with Gotham academy.
This manga series is rather old, but it is drawn by the same mangaka for Death Note and Bakuman. It's called Hikaru no Go, the premise might not sound thrilling, but it's oddly addictive.

Seraph of the end is great! Especially if you keep reading. (Im so against vampires and my friend made me read it and I love it now)
Seraph of the End is amazing! It’s definitely not you’re typical vampire story, and there’s so much more to it than the vampires. Do it! 😊

Hey Jesse! There is this great manga called Fairy Tail, and I really recommend it, and there is an anime for it too, which is great!
Hey Jesse, there's a manga adaptation of Big Hero 6! There's only two volumes and they have slight changes from the movie but I highly recommend them.
