- I thought this britannia hotel at Leeds bradford airport would of been better looked after !
I booked a one night stay at britannia Hotel about 1 mile from the Leeds bradford airport just to take a look as we will using the britannia hotel in August as we have a early morning flight to are very first holiday abroad.
i thought this britannia hotel would of been cleaner and more looked after.

I worked as a room attendant here about 10 years ago. Worst job ever! Was given 10min to clean each room and a crazy amount of rooms to do. I would take longer because i wanted it to be cleaned well for customers but would get told off for it. They never did deep cleans. Looks like nothing has changed.

I did housekeeping in a hotel years ago and it is very hard graft.
As a former housekeeper in a hotel 10 mins is barely long enough to strip and make bed let alone clean properly.

Dan, the washing line is for ladies pants and tights to dry over night after being washed in the sink. Its a very old fashioned custom😇

The washing line is incase you want to rinse out your smalls! There is free wifi in all the public rooms. Also UV light causes the optical brighteners used in spot treatments like Resolve and in most laundry detergents to glow with a bluish white light, so some of the marks could be cleaning materials. Have you checked your home bathroom after it has been cleaned?

Yes that's true. I once freaked out over a long white line under UV light which was just paint!

The washing line in room is to hang your swimming trunks up after using the pool we just come back from Dubai and we used the indoor 24 hour pool every night we had one of those in our room was really useful drying swimming costume

Dan, we stayed in the Britannia Hotel at Manchester Airport about 10 years ago. It cost £75 for the night and it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The bedsheets clearly hadn’t been changed, black hairs and bits in the bed, ripped carpet that had been duck taped, dried wee on the toilet seat with a questionable hair dried into it and mould round the bath. We should have just crashed in the car overnight, yuk!
I think the washing line thing was meant to appear as a small luxury, much like the shoe polish kits and the needle and thread kits. Nobody ever used them, but they took them home to not use them.

Just watching this, the thing you were looking at in the bathroom was a washing line for your smalls, you pull the line out and attach to the keyhole at the other end of the bath. Never seen one b4 but could clearly see what it was.

From experience there another Britannia hotel which is just as bad. That is the Grand Burstin in Folkestone, Kent. It is disgusting! Not long ago some of the concrete fell off the outside from near the top and injured a coach driver. From the location overlooking the harbour you would expect more. Beds are horrible and windows never clean. Only good thing about this Britannia hotel is the food is good. Love your videos. Thank you for everything you do and great to see Emma in this video. I wouldn’t have accepted that bed. I’d have asked for another room and told them about the broken base. Very cheeky charging extra for parking while you’re actually staying there ( fine if you can leave the car there when you go on holiday).
My wife said no about complaining
3:50 Not a fan of chairs facing the bed. 6:00 I hope you used your black light on the hairdryer? 6:55 Oh dear, a mirror facing a bed is not recommend, lucky there is not a mirror facing this one. 10:30 I would not be lying on the brown throw as they are not washed that often. 11:42 the spare loo roll is in the splash zone. 13:05 its to open the plug to empty the water out of the tub. New Shower curtain. 28:00 will because the water is too hot for the sink. 28:55 Loo splash zone around the loo paper. 31:00 body juice. Thank you Darren for sharing your hotel reviews.

What would be cool is a before and after video.... Show the UV filth before then do your clean and do UV after your clean. This would really highlight how bad the filth was.

That line in the bathroom is not for drying clothes...its to keep the shower curtain in the bath so it dosnt flap about 😂!!!
It was a retractable clothes line that hooks into the keyhole bit you found on the wall at the other end of the bath. Also the thing that turned near the taps is to put the bath plug up and down. 😊

The truly terrible Britannia Hotel in Nottingham, in an absolute dump of a 60's tower block on Maid Marian Way, actually has a brothel operating inside it! Just found your channel, good stuff mate. Liked and subscribed as the youth say.
You can’t have stayed at many Britannia hotels before mate !! They are all shockingly bad, they are considered as the worst hotel chain in the UK
Also those clothes lines long the bath are very common in hotels in the USA, good for hanging up your swimwear after being in the pool or at a water park

I think most people would have told reception about the bed base and asked to be moved. But quite rightly shouldn’t be like it in the first place. I don’t have good experience of a Britannia Hotel.

Stayed here just immediately before the first lockdown. My mum and i came with a coach party. We had to go down in the lift to our room which had a distinct smell of germoline in it. For those too young to remember germoline its like an antiseptic ointment. I couldnt get the smell out of my nose for days. Our room had a door leadingout to a patio area which was filthy. Covered in debris and bird poo. We were on a half board deal and breakfast wasnt too bad. Theres always toast isnt there? Evening meal was vile. The chef was none too clean looking either. The meat was like shoe leather and veg very poor quality and overcooked. The place is miles away from anywhere so no option for food round about. It was certainly an experience but one we wouldnt like to repeat. We were out every day on the coach to different places so made sure we had a good lunch. This could be a very nice hotel if it was clean and they improved the food but i guess they just cater to the coach trips now and dont make a huge amount from it.
Washing line is great. Especially for those staying more than a couple of nights, you might need to wash a pair of duds before you can get to a laundrette. Basically sink/shower washing 1 or 2 items and then hang to dry. Or swimming trunks, for example. I think they're great. More common in American motels.

All brittannia hotels are like this. Great out front but no so good inside. Handy hint. If you do the adelphi Liverpool ask for an outside facing room
Soon as I saw the name Britannia, I knew it was going to be bad(ish). They’ve real let themselves go. It’s as if they’ve thought f**k it, people will come and we won’t modernise from our 90s heyday decor, lol 😂

Stopped in One at Manchester airport a few years back ( car parking was cheap then) it was alike it has not changed since 1970 nor been cleaned, our local Britannia in Nottingham had a bad reputation . Yours looks a lot better.

I'm pretty sure it was in the same cabin where my best mates parents stayed, on his pre-wedding night while he was in a normal room...
But then again most of the cabins look the same.
A lot of these big name hotels sold out to the Home Office

Looks like Britannia hotels must have loads of share holders, so skimp on cleaning etc, hoping most will not notice or complain, a previous commenter said you only get 10 mins to clean a room !

Regarding the phone in the room, try pressing 1 they used to work years ago using that.

And they have the cheek to not only charge for £7.50 per night for Wi-Fi but also PER PERSON. That's utterly obscene pricing!

Britannia hotels buy lovely old grand buildings, don't maintain them then turn them into shit.

Hopefully *Britannia* do a better job with *The Midland Hotel* in *Bradford* which they bought last year.
Village hotels in nearby Tingley, lot nicer and cheaper. Bathroom was twice the size, more moderner. Lovely breakfast part of the price, also gym and swimming pool.

I have a uvb light...most of those stai s are chemical splashes,when you use a cleaning g product and don't rinse it off those stains show up everytime...Yes the dust is bad and the that bed I would of insisted to move to another room...Not worth the money...
