If you are not catholic it will be very hard to understand this wonderful testimony. You would have incomplete truths and the catholic faith have the whole truth because it is Our Lord Jesus Christ. Whether you accept that or not is irrelevant one must be educated to the truth and even Catholics can behave as ignorant if they do not study their own religion. Besides, one thing I learn about this wonderful conversion is that though the catholic faith is Our Lord Jesus church we all get judge according to LOVE. Because religion alone will not be enough and that is so true how many people know the bible upside down and they are unloving and unkind. And, that my dear people is the most important thing about believing in God is to become like him loving and kind and loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. God bless you all.

We are not "unkind" there is a truth that you do not want to accept but that is your choice. But, that is the TRUTH w have the "complete" truth that does not mean we go straight to heaven if we are not faithful to God. There are many catholics as well as so called "cristians" that hide the truth in front of the world. They are one thing in the church and once they walk out of the church they become another person. I would suggest to stop criticizing' the holy church and become more "educated" in the holy faith. You have to study this faith and be aware of what you are saying. You can't say erroneous statements when you have not done your "homework". My God guide you and lead to the truth.

I wish to humbly address those who have commented about purgatory, Christ's atonement for our sin, and interpreting the Bible. However, before I do, I would like to say that I offer my comment for your review in the hope that it brings you all and I closer to the truth of Christ, our merciful Savior. AMDG (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam: For the greater glory of God.)
    1. Regarding purgatory in the Bible: Of course, there is the well-known dispute between Luther/Calvin and the Catholic Church. From a historical point of view, Luther and Calvin removed the books or portions of books in their interpretation of the Bible in which some of the clearest references to purgatory exist. Non-Catholic Christians argue that the Catholic Church added these texts to the Bible at the Council of Trent. Even though this latter argument is not historically supportable, may I offer for everyone's consideration a different perspective? I am writing this comment while sitting in a chair in my dining room. The chair in which I sit, the dining room in which the chair is placed, and, for that matter, I am not specifically mentioned in the Bible. Yet each of these things and I exist. They and I are real. They and I are truth. So, it would seem self-evident that there are truths that exist which are not specifically listed in the Bible. Similarly, it is possible to argue that a state such as purgatory must exist.
    2. Regarding Christ's atonement for our sin: Indeed, Christ sacrificed his body, blood, soul, and Divinity for our salvation. He paid a debt he did not owe because we, humans, owed a debt we could not pay. Yet, he clearly empowered the Apostles to go out and forgive men's sins. (And, those sins the Apostles chose not to forgive, according to Christ, would not be forgiven.) If Christ did all that was necessary for our atonement, this power he granted the Apostles would seem to be folly. I think we can all agree as Christians that Christ did not engage in folly. I humbly submit that we must be obedient to Christ and go to the Apostle's or their successor's so that our sins may be forgiven.
    3. Regarding interpreting the Bible - As a physics instructor attempting to explain how distance, time, and speed are related, I might introduce the "slope-intercept" formula from algebra. But, as a student, who has has a basic introduction into economics, I might interpret that formula as the one which explains the simple increase in my bank account when I deposit money into it weekly. Another student may interpret it as an explanation for some other physical quantity entirely. Are each of the student's interpretations equally valid while sitting in the physics class? Clearly not. The only meaning which is relevant is the one intended by the physics instructor. In other words, my interpretation of the Bible is irrelevant. What is relevant is the meaning intended by the Holy Spirit. How do we deduce the meaning of Scripture? I humbly submit that Christ made that crystal clear when he founded his church on Peter, gave him the keys of the kingdom, and made the divine promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against it in Matthew's Gospel. It is Peter and his successor's who may interpret the Bible, secure in the knowledge that their interpretation precisely reflects the intent God, the Father, wishes because it is preserved through the guidance of the God, the Holy Spirit.
I offer these comments as food for thought and in the hope that it brings us all closer to God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of my brothers and sisters on this site (and elsewhere in the world) each has a piece of the truth. Hopefully, we may all come together in unity to fulfill one another and live in the real truth of the Gospel message: God is love and God is mercy. To know God we must love one another and show mercy to each other. We are obligated to help each other attain heaven.
    God bless.

@Melinda Johnson - Of course you can ask God for forgiveness when you pray but as a Catholic, the sacrament of reconciliation ( Penance ). Matthew 16:17-20 explains the significance and AUTHORITY of confessing to a priest GRANTED by Jesus Christ. Non-Catholics must understand that an ordained priest acts as a representative of Christ just as the apostles in the bible passage quoted above. Also if just asking for forgiveness of sins or just believing that because we are saved our sins are just automatically wiped off we are gravely mistaken. Our salvation was bought with a price ( Blood Jesus ) that we can take for granted. Faith and works is a good starting place. God bless :)

    • @408valentina

it's all how you choose to interpret the bible. As a non catholic, I do not believe that is what those passages are "really" stating.

+408valentina Fortunately, we (Catholics) have been given the brain power, discernment, & inspiration from the Holy Spirit which has continually guided thousands of great, mighty, & highly educated men (brilliant men of God) for these last 2,000 years, to learn from. No individual has the fullness of understanding in themselves, alone.

By whose authority do you base your opinion on? Jesus gave authority to the Catholic Church when He said...You are Peter and upon you I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The Catholic Church has written historical records establishing them as the original Church with the lineage of all the Popes all the way back to the first Pope...St.Peter. The Catholic Church has the authority given by God....not any individual person.

    PURGATORY (part 1)
    1 Cor 3:10-15
Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

It appears to me that we all have different experiences at death or near death, I went through similar due to Type1 diabetes, it was so great the colours I saw the earth as it really is and I said to my wife there is a darkness on this earth, I can look a the most beautiful beach with palm trees and deep green sea and it still looks dull and grey to me. The only person i have heard describe the same is "the girl that paints heaven" where she says the colours are not available to paint her visions which i think its a vision of earth and she says heaven. I never met Jesus or anyone I just saw it and felt very calm, it's a strange one alright. All I know is there is an afterlife and I was in a good place. I say my Rosary everyday now (not taking any chances I guess)

Melinda, for goodness sakes, we are just doing what Jesus asked. Let go of Luther and Calvin. They rejected almost everything the apostolic Church believed and taught for the first 1500 years, starting from the founding of the Church itself by Jesus.
Jesus told us to "confess your sins, one to another" (James 5:16) and also gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins - "whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven them, and whose sins you hold bound, they are held bound" (John 20:23)

@ Melinda Johnson and others and where in the bible does Jesus say about Purgatory :
Matthew 5:25-25 -"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny..
Here Jesus means the adversary is the sin that a person commits on earth, and when he says ( to settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way) . he means to go quickly and purify the soul from that sin with the blood of Jesus in the confession room before it is too late while a person is still alive on this earth because the moment a person dies together with the sin t, hat sin will take the person after death to the court of the almighty Judge. then the person because of that sin will be thrown into prison.
Now , here is the most interesting part where everyone who reads the Bible easily miss it , is when Jesus says "Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny" . so If when we die, we either go to hell or heaven and we all know that if a person goes to hell he will spend the eternal life there, there is no way OUT so why then Jesus say you will not get out until you have paid the last penny? so where is this place where Jesus is talking about that is not heaven because he clearly says it is a prison and it is not hell because he says a person can get out but only after he payed the last penny ?
well, it is clear that Jesus is talking about the purgatory ...the place where the soul is paying the price for the sin that because of it we cant enter heaven at the same time is not a sin that sends the person to the eternal fire of hell. in other words , the sins that we did not purify our souls from in the confession room through Jesus blood while we were living on earth , those sins that do not send us to hell but hinder us from entering heaven will keep us in the purifying world until we are ready to meet the most holy our almighty lord and saviour Jesus Christ in his eternal heaven :).
    God bless you all.

Gracias. This testimony is awesome. As a Traditional Roman Catholic a lot of modern Catholics when attending a funeral in the new mass the Priest hardly talks about the possibly that the persons soul that just died, most likely is in Hell or Purgatory. The Priest should talk about The Holy Souls In Purgatory.

You're judging and I'm sorry you had to through that but you can't judge the catholic faith by few people. You can't go directly to God you have no authority only priests can do that. It's even in the bible God gave the disciple to lose sins and bind them that was only given to the hierarchy of the church which has order. Otherwise, we do as we please as you suggest.

    PURGATORY (part2of3)
Luther threw 1+2 Maccabees (and other books) out of the Old Testament that were part of the Greek language compendium (Septuagint) that was known to have been used by the Apostles and very probably Jesus.
The story of the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah is preserved in these books
Seven Jewish brothers, their mother and their teacher are known in Christianity as the Holy Maccabean Martyrs. They are so named from the description of their martyrdom in 2 and 4 Maccabees

    PURGATORY 3
It was not until the 2nd century B.C. that there arose a belief in an afterlife amongst the Jews. Pharisees believed it.
    2Maccabees 12:45
"Therefore he made atonement for the dead, so that they might be delivered from their sin."
To this day the Jews still offer prayers for the dead.
Praying for the dead implies they have a positive effect (of some kind) on the dead. Catholic belief in purgatory comes in part from the Jewish practice which was NEVER condemned by Jesus or Apostles.

Purgatory gives relief to my tortured soul. I am willing to spend my suffering in purgatory rather than spend my punishing life here on earth. Think about it. You have suffered here on Earth only to be dragged by satan to hell still.

If suffering is offered for love, for the greater glory of God, it won't be in vain.
Even Jesus chose to suffer here on Earth, so why can't we His disciples do the same?
Don't you want to be reconciled with God immediately after death?

Please tell me where in the bible does it say when you die you go to purgatory? Biblically when you die,you either go to hell or heaven. Are you saved? Do you have a personal relationship with the Lord?...and asked him to forgive you of your sins? No where in the bible does it say you go to purgatory.

Am not catholic but have been asking God about many of the Catholic church teachings & the Lord has given me answers, I only have discovered that the Non catholic "church' is just amess& a lie, but by God's grace many Protestants will go to purgatory . 'Because you have un incomplete bible by Martin Luther. Any way, Purgatory is not a pleasant place, but it is the place of grace for those who die believers but are not pure to the degree of being in the presence of God. Rev21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Because many human souls can not meet the purity like Abraham, & many martrys, saints & prophets, God has to purify these souls to enable them enter into Heaven. Another evidence of purgatory is in the story of Joshua the High priest, Zechariah3:Clean Garments for the High Priest
3 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan[a] standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?”
3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. 4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”
Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”
5 Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.
6 The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: 7 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.{ Here Prophet Zachariah was shown the High Priest, Joshua in the presence of God, & he was being purged, note that satan was also standing to accuse Joshua, the same happens to many souls, the Lord simply has to snatch them & purify /purge them} Each Believer in Jesus Christ must work on their faith & live like Jesus so that they do not go to purgatory but rather go directly to Paradise.
Concerning Confession of sin to the Priest. Dont confess your sins to the Priest at your own risk ,I pity us protestants who have self justification when the Lord has put in place all the processes of dispensing his grace to the Apostolic Church. Now only the Apostolic church has the power to absolve sin. The false Church can not do that, because satan uses it to take people to hell.
John20:21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” {This is the authority the Lord Jesus gave to the Apostolic order, the new priesthood spread to the 12 tribes of Isreal instead of the Levite alone. Mathew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[c] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[d] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[e] loosed in heaven.”
      James5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. {My protestant fellows when do we do this in our 'churches'?}

Melinda Johnson Remember - the Catholic Church and it’s traditions dating back to Our Lord and the apostles precede the Bible by a century. The Bible is precious but only one of three legs we must lean on. Jesus did not come to write a book but to save us by established His Church to guide us. One Church. Not 40,000. One. Holy. Apostolic. Catholic Church.

Melinda Johnson “I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.” Luke 12:59. All sins must be atoned for before you get out of life without the Beatific Vision. If you’ve repented then they have been forgiven but there are still consequences. Only the pure can see God.

My problem with Mr. Marino Restrepo is that he claims to have worked as an actor, producer, and composer in Hollywood, yet, there's absolutely no record of him ever working in any production, not even as "Factory Worker No.2". And when he lies about his past, he may as well be lying about the whole thing. That's a shame because we need to hear these kind of testimonies, and we need to believe in them.

We don't know them all. Only couple of very famous. He worked in Germany in 1970's as an actor on stage.
As a cradle catholic I totally believe in his testimony because we had and have to this day MYSTICS who
speak to Jesus. And they talk about the same - HOW TO BE SAFE and not end -up in HELL.
It is up to you where do you want end up.

If you are going to condemn a belief in something you don't follow, first have full knowledge of it yourself, do due diligence and research.. Jesus died for us so we can reach God, that is why the veil in the Temple , the barrier to God , was torn in two when Jesus died...Mary intercedes to Jesus the Son for us.. He loves His mother so much , that she brings to Him our prayers and He listens.. God bless

Or... He loved his creations so much (including us) that he gave them free will.
In a way, God could make you love him, but instead he loved you/us so much he gave us a choice. "I'm not going to force my girlfriend to love me and later marry me, instead I hope she chooses me like I did her." The relationship with God is infinitely deeper than my analogy, but you get the idea. I am sure that the "Enemy of the soul" regrets turning away from God, but was also given the choice, like us.

This is an amazing story but the only thing I disagree with his the comment he made when he said"the way we get to heaven is to become saints". No,the only way to heaven is thru Jesus Christ,to ask him to come into your heart and forgive your sins.Jesus died on the cross and when he did that he cut out the "middle man".What I mean by that is there is no reason to confess your sins to a priest. You are to confess your sins to the Lord.He is the ONLY ONE that can forgive you!!

The Lord has given his apostles the power to remit sins. Read John chapter 20 verses 22-23:
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive you the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins you remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins you retain, they are retained.

Valentina, I love you, but you are doing the same as you accuse. You are being dogmatic about your views.
The first thing you should read are the 7 epistles of St. Ignatius. St. Ignatius of Antioch was one of the early Christians who was actually eaten by lions. He said "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." Go to www.newadvent.org and click 'fathers' on the top right corner, he's in there somewhere. It's a good 'plain-English' account of how things were in 107 A.D. He was a bishop, *instructed by the apostles themselves.* It is not easy to read those letters and not realize that the church which Christ founded and was continued by His apostles was the Catholic Church.
The Catholic Church conforms much more closely to all of the biblical data,
offers the only coherent view of the history of Christianity (i.e., Christian, apostolic Tradition), and possesses the most profound and sublime Christian morality, spirituality, social ethic, and philosophy.
