I think LG has a winner here. They pioneered the wide camera angle which has now become a mainstay and now they've made the dual screen capability easy and affordable. The Microsoft phone won't be out for another year so LG hopefully will be able to win over early adopters. They've really hit a good note with this price point. This is a way better deal with the dual screen, standard 128gigs of storage, headphone jack, and a wide camera angle than the pixel phones. I mean I can find more daily uses for a second screen than I can the ability take a picture of the stars. Thanks for showing off the phone Tim
LG did take a huge risk with the dual screen feature but the good thing is it worked out perfectly well. The LG G8X ThinQ is the right choice of a smartphone for anyone needing to juggle multiple tasks at the same time without having to spend extra time and effort. Great video Tim, you did an excellent job showing all the features of the phone. I know I don't need a dual or fold screen. The Galaxy S11+ will do me fine.

I've always used a wallet case for extra protection on my phones. Is there a optional covered case for this phone that will fit while its attached to the extra screen ?
@@Standgedicht the pOLED screens are actually better in many aspects, especially in outdoor viewing. Speaking as someone with an S10 5G and Note 10 Plus.
I just bought this phone on the LG website for $450 today. It's a Black Friday deal but maybe the price will stay low? Anyway, I got the unlocked version and I'm excited to get it! Thanks for a great review.
This is the most innovative phone in long time. Dual screen makes much more sense than having one large and very fragile screen a la Galaxy Fold. And they've managed to do it a a very sensible price.
I love LG the new technology of having a speaker built under the screen for surround sound is amazing and with regular speaker as well the LG G8 is what I have way better than any iPhone
Colton Watkins Maybe it follows the main phone default frames? Yeah it does look annoying to have unnecessary notch. Hopefully its can be hide or remove via settings.
The problem with Galaxy Fold is that the screen costs a fortune to replace it (converted to USD it would be 650$ where i live) and the whole phone is expensive af as well. It's also one of the only phones with foldable screens, and since the first version had it's problems - for now I don't trust this technology. Same thing for upcoming Motorola (not only a screen here, but also the hinges). I want to see first how it deals with long-term usage etc, Samsung showed more than once that they can fuck up even regular phones (burning or with weird colors on their screens). For me, folding phones are an overkill for now, it's just unnecessary, stupid, overcomplicated etc, and I really like what LG did. Regular phone with a case that makes it dual screen. It's hard to break because it closes, it's cheaper to replace the screen, it works kind of like a laptop which is a tech we all now works for years etc. On top of that You can remove the phone from the case so that it drains battery slower if You dont need the secondary screen, and it's much cheaper than Galaxy. For me for now LG G8X > Samsung Galaxy Fold/Motorola RAZR. It's just more usable and less like a stupid gadget for rich kids.
Nearly 25GB used on a fresh install? That's a lot of bloatware. Anyways, I like this double screen more than the foldables, especially at that lower price.
Bro...i saw the fold live in person today- a guy in the mall had one on him and let me see it and tinker with it...that 2k price is justified. this thing cant hold a candle to what samsung just put out- its insanity in a cellphone lol. so no- i would say this is like the jewelry in the middle of the mall compared to the fold
This appears to be an amazing phone. I just ordered mine...how ever I am concerned about how to protect it. Can you suggest extra protection or a pouch that will fit this device?
Gamechanger at that price. Galaxy Fold Who? Of course Samsung/Apple/Google/Microsoft will do it and call it innovation. I like that you can use it as a single phone, and that the dual screen doubles as a case, and triple screen for notifications.$699 for two 1080+ OLED's, that makes Google's pixel XL and iphone 11 at 64GB and higher priced with smaller screens and apple with one 828p lcd and no sd card, no headphone jack, no quad dac, seem way overpriced.
@@Standgedicht except that with the price of ONE galaxy Fold you can get THREE LG G8xs, each with the dual screen case as shown here also since the G8x is IP Rated and MIL-STD rated, its considerably more duable than the plastic screen Samsung uses for the Fold which has been shown to get dirt under it and/or hard touches ruining the display
@@Standgedicht Actually LG showed this at ces in January, and has sold over 5000000 LG V50 dual screen phones in Korea, so Samsung as usual is the copy cat hear, and you can use it as a single phone if you want. LG Prada, first all touch smartphone with downloadable apps, not samsung, first dual cam triple cam, 1440p, curved oled, back fingerprint scanner, 18/9+ thin bezel, HDR, MQA certified, tof based secure face id and secure fingerprint scanner on the same phone, yes samsung was also first or nearly first with a ton of things to and make the best screens, have the great pen base note series, dual aperture lens, iris scanning, but hey their notch is about the same as samsung's' "NOLE", and LG was first with the notch on the LG V10 and V20 way before sharp, essential and apple. Give LG a little credit, you can bet, samsung and apple and microsoft will refine polish and release their version of this and call it innovation.
LG : we have great display, lag free experience, swift processor, great camera and finally always on display.. Customer: how about updates.. LG: I am done. 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Since LG discontinues their services with smartphones, I hope other companies will adopt this unique accessory. I am a multitasker, and a dual screen that is affordable will benefit me.

Imagine the potential for gaming on a device like this! Just like you showed, you could have it in landscape mode and then have one screen with gaming controls and the other showing the game itself. As far as reading content and such, I get the feeling that the device would become too bulky after a while to hold and use. And that really wide bar between the two screens would get maddening. Watching from my G6, love it
Haha same
Same lol I want that phone.
Same haha getting this
Lol same. When my g6 dies I'm going for this one.
Like I do, and I buy it now!
I've always used a wallet case for extra protection on my phones. Is there a optional covered case for this phone that will fit while its attached to the extra screen ?
That phone design looks very nicelove seeing the screen, the ui,,with 3.5mm jack makes it more interesting to consider
wondering, can you split the screen on both screens?
I've talked with the phone tech I deal with, and yes screens can be split again, not sure if on both screens.
Very nice and informative video, thank you. We definitely will consider purchasing this device.
LG always innovating
In what point? That is only LG's poor version of a foldable phone. And their pOLED Screens are terrible as hell.
@@Standgedicht how are they terrible? You must never had one
Wait so can I cancel my RUclips premiums since I wouldn’t have to put it in the background now? 😂
I like the way u advertise it u show u are impressed 😉
Love LG's innovation 😊
Poor man's Galaxy fold, nothing wrong with that, I'm sold :D
That's weird how it ships with Android 9 when in the boot screen it shows that newer Android 10 logo
Yeah It is weird maybe they are prepairing for android 10 update but knowing its LG they might take years to roll out the update.
That's because the unlocked LG V50 and G8 already have Android 10. Carrier's love to hold updates back a year.
I was hoping you would've turned up the sound so we could hear the speakers.
What's with the notch on the secondary display? Seems unnecessary.
Colton Watkins
Maybe it follows the main phone default frames?
Yeah it does look annoying to have unnecessary notch. Hopefully its can be hide or remove via settings.
they used the exact same screen as the phones uses = notch
@@TheCutCartel I figured that. Very cheap of them.
Wow, I'm in awe, I love it.
Wish they had this for my Galaxy note 10... Imagine reading something on one side while taking notes on the other
Samsung has one device for it: It`s called Galaxy Fold. Huawei has a better option to with the Mate X.
@@Standgedicht I know but you can't use the spen with the fold... It would scratch it
Nearly 25GB used on a fresh install? That's a lot of bloatware. Anyways, I like this double screen more than the foldables, especially at that lower price.
This concept is so much better than the damn Wing.
Give me a good phone as a basis and expand with this kind of stuff!
That's a pretty cool phone. thank you for sharing.
Birthday gift to my self next month so excited 😍😍😍😍😍😍thanks LG for a great phone im so in love
Definitely a more inexpensive option to the $2999aud Samsung galaxy fold lol
Fold costs $2k and in 2020 will be Fold2 with lower price! LG really sucks))
but still stupid design ang dumb people love it
Bro...i saw the fold live in person today- a guy in the mall had one on him and let me see it and tinker with it...that 2k price is justified. this thing cant hold a candle to what samsung just put out- its insanity in a cellphone lol. so no- i would say this is like the jewelry in the middle of the mall compared to the fold
This appears to be an amazing phone. I just ordered mine...how ever I am concerned about how to protect it. Can you suggest extra protection or a pouch that will fit this device?
what a waste of money, found one for 150 now
bought it today, can't wait to receive it
Gamechanger at that price.
Samsung has real foldable phones. No need for plastic cases with a second notch screen. LG is the copy cat here.
@@Standgedicht except that with the price of ONE galaxy Fold you can get THREE LG G8xs, each with the dual screen case as shown here
also since the G8x is IP Rated and MIL-STD rated, its considerably more duable than the plastic screen Samsung uses for the Fold which has been shown to get dirt under it and/or hard touches ruining the display
@@ShaiyanHossain well said and true
This is the dual screen done right.
Seems like a winner. I'm addicted to using the pen for notes though.
you could still use a stylus on the touch screen, with a rubber tip, not as good as the note but doable.
Very true. They should try and improve those general stylus's.
Very practical. Nothing gimmicky with this phone
LG : we have great display, lag free experience, swift processor, great camera and finally always on display..
Customer: how about updates..
LG: I am done.
😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
V50 and G8 already received Android 10. G8X and V40 will follow suit.
LG is very underrated man.
Can please someone share that seamless wallpaper apk? I want it for my LG
Since LG discontinues their services with smartphones, I hope other companies will adopt this unique accessory. I am a multitasker, and a dual screen that is affordable will benefit me.
Yeah I agree it's a shame this isn't catching on. The good news is, the v60, G8x, velvet, are still getting software support, and are less than $300 brand new often on swappa or eBay.
@@michaelcorcoran8768 True, I did see many at affordable prices on eBay when I was browsing back in February.
YAAAAAY
I WANTED A NEW NINTENDO DS😁😁😁😁😁😁
Me too. Maybe it get some good emulator of NDS
@@xyxxyx4883 DraStic is not a bad Nintendo DS emulator for Android.
@@farishanafiah8461 i mean emulator that will have implemented dual screen support
@@xyxxyx4883 It's actually very easy. I have this phone and I use DraStic and an app called Widemode which lets you force any app to run like Google Chrome in this video. You just have to mess around with the screen size and button layout on DraStic for a bit and you're golden.
@@thunderboltll that's great to hear, but still i don't need this addition because i have an actual DS
Nice one and innovative flagship from LG
Nice review TIm. I guess my question is, is it worth the $699 if the extra screen is not included? Because I think some like me would use it with and without the dual screen due to size.
it comes with the screen at $700
you dont have to use it if you dont want to lol
spec for spec wise its up there with the top mid rangers and the S10e
@@ShaiyanHossain If it has specs for the top mid range phone, what do the top top range phones have?
@@cwhiting this phone SD855, 6GB RAM, 4000mAh battery, 128GB+microSD card storage, dual cameras (main+ultrawide), 6.4" POLED screen, headphone jack
Puts it on par with many other phones in its price range
Other higher spec phones may have more RAM, UFS 3.0 storage, larger batteries, maybe an SD855+, 90Hz screens, etc.
@@ShaiyanHossain which phones have more ram and a better processor? Everything I've seen all the top phones have an 855 and only 6 gig of ram
@@cwhiting One Plus 7T has SD 855+ and 8GB of RAM
7Pro can get up to 12GB RAM with the McLaren Edition
Red Magic 3 has 12GB of RAM as an option
Asus RoG Phone II has SD855+ and 8/12GB of RAM as well
Imagine the potential for gaming on a device like this! Just like you showed, you could have it in landscape mode and then have one screen with gaming controls and the other showing the game itself. As far as reading content and such, I get the feeling that the device would become too bulky after a while to hold and use. And that really wide bar between the two screens would get maddening. I feel like the dual screen functionality here will shine the most with each screen doing something discrete but at the same time related. (Like the gaming idea or the watching a video and taking notes example you used)
Am I in the E A R T H - EARTH
or in mars , I cant believe this type of device
This phone has great sound with both headphones and Bluetooth. Go under sound and check the settings. 3d surround. Also nice equalizer..
Watching this with my g6, looks like i found my next phone.
Lool same here with g6 since it came out
i envy both of you, that G6 camera can, shockingly, STILL hold its own against today's flagships. and i have the RUclips video to prove it. seen the video a few months ago and i STILL can't believe what i saw
The walpaper is Amazing!
Woww this will be perfect when playing emulator 😍😍 PPSSPP, DOLPHIN
And, of course, nindendo DS emulator
