Damn I need this book, Eisner is THE master. The Dreamer is my go to for constant inspiration.

Greg from Big Planet made me aware of this, and specifically pointed out the paper. Supposedly there's a manga edition that uses the same paper... with DH taking advantage of buying their paper in bulk. I picked this up from Velocity as payment for being a judge of one of their art competitions.

@Cartoonist Kayfabe your videos are not easy listening. I keep looking away from my work to see the awesomeness you’re showing. Question; Disney and Eisner’s signatures look very similar, what’s that about?

this is great. a brazillian theater company did an adaptation of dropsie avenue and, despite the fairly minimal staging, they actually did a pretty interesting use of the foreground/background city elements on the stage to give it some notion of setting and depth. funny you guys mentioned that on that spirit panel. just discovered the channel, big fan already. cheers!

Talking about drawing drapery, the famous artist's course (one of the older iterations) has the best lessons on drawing drapery and folds in fabrics that I've found.

This is an amazing book and insight into how he worked, truly inspiring and looks so ahead of its time. I've watched the whole video a few times already. Thanks so much for sharing.

Fun Fact: Eisner put in many years illustrating the US Army magazine "P. S. Preventative Maintenance" and I used to collect them, they're a hoot!

Not the biggest signature hound, but Eisner signed my Kitchen Sink Spirit #1. Very nice guy.

"Under hand grip." Its how he holds the pencil for sketching. Often used by fine artists for academic figure drawing.

About paper .... There's a circuit board material place near me that I swear is using illustration paper to put between sheets of their material, it's very heavy and has a 'hot press' and 'cold press' side. I've been collecting it in case I want to get (back) into drawing.

Interesting that Joe Kubert would eventually do a Vietnam comic in a similar style, just the raw pencils, some white for effects, and no real panel borders.

These art books are pricey. Thanks for sharing. Have you tnought of doing random reviews of artists on artstation or deviant art?
