I just purchased this exact bike a few weeks ago. Your review is spot on. It's a quality bike with many excellent features. I do agree with your assessment of the bottle cage bosses. I will do some touring with this bike and have added to the water-carrying capacity. I managed 59 mile range with the very first battery charge right from the selling dealer - and that was with using/testing all 4 assist modes. I am currently checking the range with the second full charge, only using ECO mode with normal riding conditions (no hills, 12 mph), and the display says that I will get much more than the first charge. I'm estimating closer to 70 miles, if not more. Thanks for sharing your review.
Nice (Recent) Review of the updated Gazelle Ultimate series! Due to supply chain issues, Gazelle has downgraded some of the components on this Ultimate HMB bike compared to earlier years/reviews, negating many of the reviews from 2020 which is why it is refreshing to see you do a more accurate review of what Gazelle is actually shipping with these newer bikes. The better XT Deore components are no longer being used, So the key differences between the Ultimate and the Medeo are: higher speed rated ebike tires with a bit less puncture resistance; much stronger wheels, smaller gear range due to the change in frame geometry (Ultimate theoretically can’t go as fast or climb as well as the Medeo), more aggressive riding posture on the Ultimate, where the Medeo has a bit more relaxed geometry; better fenders, 50 lumen bar mounted front light vs the 35 lumen fender mounted front light on the Medeo; 80mm travel Mobie 45 front fork vs 66mm travel Mobie fork on the Medeo; different saddle (not better or worse, just different depending on what one likes in a saddle); and a non-MIK back rack, compared to the Medeo’s MIK compatible rack. The Medeo rack also features pannier rails, so in many ways it appears to be a more functional rack than the one on the Ultimate. I purchased the Ultimate because I needed the stronger wheels, longer fork travel, and the more aggressive frame geometry to fit me (I’m much bigger than normal people). I will be changing out the grips, saddle, and Luggage rack (hoping to get the one featured on the Medeo).

Thank you for this comment! I was relying on older reviews at first and then your comment made me take a closer look at current components. Ended up going Medeo for the wider gearing and MIK and i liked the mallard blue color better than the muted one on the ultimate.
It's a nice bike for sure. I test rode one recently at my LBS. Ended up ordering the Ultimate C380 because I want a step through and I don't have many hills to deal with. The Performance Line motor of the C380 should be plenty for my needs and give me that extra range. Thanks for letting us ride along with you!
I have a Medeo T-10+ mid step and love it. I just wish I could haul it out to PDX with me, though. I used to ride all those roads with an acoustic but I'm not 17 anymore. Note: if you forget to downshift, just jack the power setting ... and hang on, lol. Then you can get to speed and downshift/power down to eco

Thanks for the review. I think the new version has some updates. I weigh 190 lbs., so I dont think the bike will be quite as fast.
