What has always struck me about Alonso's driving is his ability to always put his car in the right place on track. He rarely gets caught up in chaos, always seems to be able to capitalise on people's mistakes, and has unreal attacking and defensive skills. He just seems to understand racecraft on a different level to most drivers. Alonso and Prost are definitely similar drivers in that regard, and I would imagine that's why Alain rates him so highly.
@@stellar6643 Hungary is the second most difficult to overtake on. Let's see him pull that defense in a track like Silverstone or Spa. Right from when Hamilton was a rookie his acecraft has been evident, even in his Mercedes days. And in his first race in F1 (Australia 2007), he humiliated your hero with an overtake but Alonso was saved by Dennis who admitted that he made sure Alonso would deliberately jump Hamilton in the pits. Take a look at his win in Bahrain 2014. And have you forgotten how he made a huge risk to go from a then top team (McLaren) to a midfield one? Everyone said he was stupid. Aye, from an engine sound perspective, last year's distinctive Honda engine sound gave me chills. This year it's this alpine Renault engine. It sounds amazing. Goosebumps.
Everytime Vettel and Alonso met though, Vettel prevailed in a slower car. Make what you want of that. Also, Alonso's average starting place was 10.7. Vettel's was 11.5. So you saying "Vettel was slow in qualy" doesn't make sense, as they were separated by one place over the season, with Alpine being a better car.
@@kalyanpm6803 Bullshit, Fernando destroyed Vettel in the 2021 standings and was even offered Vettel’s seat by Lawrence Stroll for 22’… Vettel fanboys never fail to embarrass themselves 🤦♂️

This is not traction control. This is wheelspin. The reason why the car makes that noise and vibration like that is because f1 and other racecars use sequential transmissions which exhibit a phenomenon called drivetrain elasticity. This is where the drive Shaft or other components bend slightly under torsion when a load is applied or removed such as throttle being pressed or removed. When the car wheel spins the load fluctuates due to the grip fluctuating and the drivetrain flexes really quickly responding to the grip which is fluctuating equally as quickly. and this can be heard as a 'vibration' in the engine and transmission sound. Hope that helps. A good video which shows this under normal dry conditions is this one ruclips.net/video/Y7huvqSpqxg/видео.html. Forward to around 0:25 and enjoy! The nissan gtr gt3 generally has a lot of drivetrain elasticity and it's often a lot more than other cars with sequential transmissions. So that's why I thought it a good example to show. In that video after 0:25 it sounds as though the driver is modulating the throttle but this is not the case. If you keep watching the qualifying lap you'll notice the phenomenon a lot more. Notice how it happens when the driver gets on throttle or removes it. And it happens more when the car is going slower. So it's a lot more prominent at the bus stop chicane than in eau rouge for example.
@@SHRModding I don't want to be a smartass, but are you really referring to the pitlane footage? Because that's about cutting cylinders to keep it at a steady speed :O
@@Jejking was referring to the pitlane footage as well as the rest of it. In the pit lane footage, at first the revs are constant before La source hairpin. After la source when he enters the endurance pitlane the revs start really bobbing up and down because he's applying a different amount of throttle. You are right ignition does cut during the pits to keep the speed but on these gt3s it's really quick and you get a smooth 'soft limiter' of sorts. In the footage you can see really heavy bobbing up and down of the rpm. This is drivetrain elasticity. During the rest of the video you can hear it when the driver jumps on and off throttle and changes gear. There's a bit of 'vibration' in the engine rpm. So yeah the whole video is a good example.
