    Hi Rachel, love your vlogs! I’m moving to Uganda next year with my husband - we’ve both lived in the UK pretty much all our lives - he’s Ugandan, I’m Nigerian. We’ll be working remotely so worried we won’t be socialising as much with people.
    What’s your best advice on settling in, making friends etc. Interested to know how you were able to build your community.
    Thank you ❤

      I am sure you will not have problems building your network of friends in Uganda. People are friendly and invest their time in others. Just align yourselves with people that uplift your peace of mind

      Hey! Love that you guys are making the move and love that you have remote work as well. Luckily, if the work is UK hours, adjusting will be fine in that department. When it comes to a network of friends, I was fortunate enough to know amazing people before I came and then I branched out and made more friends there. I will definitely say, make sure you have some friends who understand your transition and have dealt with it, alongside the friends you have from here. In the beginning, it sounded like I was complaining about everything, until I met more people from North America who made the move and also lived life similar to how I did in Canada. Those people remind me that i'm not going insane sometimes LOL. Also, make friends here who are like minded and have had similar exposure as you, because trust, you'll come off alien to some (ie. those I work with, etc). I'd also advice to travel Africa a lot too when you're feeling like it's becoming a lot and travel to the UK when homesickness is a lot too.
      If you can create a strong eco system of people, places you frequent, areas you keep around, it becomes the best place to live.

      That's ridiculous for those tampons. I wish you had carried a truck load of them from Canada. I believe Canada removed taxes from pads and tampons a while ago unless things changed, but what the heck with those 100k tampons.

    Thank you for the heads up on Safeboda, Stanbic, and Frein (I probably spelled it wrong lol) supermarket. I watched the series called "Who TF Did I marry." I was flabbergasted by the latter series. Another series on that platform that flabbergasted me is called "The Lies He Told" by JilltheJu.
    About having cramps, I used to get lots of cramps because of my period. I once mentioned it to one of the women I met in the past. And she suggested this to me: I should stop eating meat because women/girls get cramps because of meat (beef, chicken, goat, seafood). So I tested the latter for 3 months to see whether I'd stop getting cramps and I was surprised what she suggested worked for me too. So I continued not eating meat for years. However, the past few years I took it farther by eating meat only after my period within each month: I continued not having cramps. So I realized that if I want to eat meat I should eat it after my period within each month because if I eat meat before my period within any month I'm basically torturing myself because now I know how to not get cramps while on my period. Banana bread has the same effect on me as meat. As a result I do the same thing with banana bread if I want to eat banana bread. Ever since I started doing this, I have peaceful (no cramps) periods to where I forget I'm on my period unless I need to change my tampon.

      Ayyyye thank you for watching and thank you for commenting! Firstly, let me just say Stanbic actually did finally come through with help. Affluent/private banking is the only way to bank in this country if you want to see things happen lmao. But man, they clarified a lot. I'm never using SafeCar again.
      In regards to the cramps - wow wow wow! This info is so helpful. I'm going to try this out and report back because I feel like this does make some sense. I can't cut out meat, but I certainly can delay it later in the month 😅. If I could get rid of these cramps, I would be the happiest person alive, I swear LOL

    O boy, abt safe car or boda whatever it’s called, my bad experience with them was price manipulation..driver using a different route and the price doubled from the original quotation! 3 times it happened to me 😳It’s not that I couldn’t afford but the fact is that they’re sneaky abt it, not honest at all ! Btw I luv your vlogs, I get to see spots in Kampala i don’t know about! Cheers 🥂

    • @RachaelNalumu
      @RachaelNalumu  6 месяцев назад

      This has happened to me toooo! I was told by my boyfriend it's because I use cashless, so the drivers just take advantage of that. But regardless, I reported it to SafeBoda and they did nothing for me. They said it was accurate when it showed in the app the guy intentionally used a longer route. I will never use SafeCar again and I won't be recommending to anyone either.
