The first year of the semis. You can tell this was an experiment hence the standard is very varied at best. I'd have sent 'Son Of A Liar' by Kina Jaarnek. That had potential to do rather well at the contest. Very well produced schlager-pop but up to date for the early 2000s. Javeira had a beautiful Celine Dion style ballad. Mendez was typically Latino Pop, but catchy af and well performed. Considering what won the actual contest, this may have also won. Probably the safest choice for a big result. The Poets had a very fun pop-punk track which would have great potential. Those guys are probably 37-41 now! Makes me feel old lol as I'm in their age range. 'Sluta' is she the Mum, he's the son and thats the Dad and sisters on backing? Guilty pleasure song. Afro-Dite were a decent winner but the performance in Tallinn wasn't too good. Kayo is one beautiful woman. Towe Jaarnek was very typical well produced pop for this era. Some cool underrated R&B with Zoe and Jennifer Newberry. Hanna and Lina is fun - very typical girlband pop song for that time and catchy. Friends had a better song here than in 2001 and 2000. More modern. Jan Johansen - amazing ballad.
Jan Johansen - Sista andetaget, is still well known and much liked here in Sweden. It became the real winner in the long run. A few of the other songs may be heard occasionally, but most of them have vanished into oblivion. There where many useless contributions this year. Old-fashioned, gimmicky, niched or just bland. It was Björkman's first year as contest producer. New ideas were tried out but it was still a long way to go. It would take years to transform MF into the well oiled machinery it is today, just as it took quite a while to teach people how to identify a potential winner. I remember the voting. Afro-dite's song had a fresh sound. The girls were already well known and very likeable. It was the only decent contribution standing a chance against the novelty acts topping the betting lists. It wasn't as much about voting for something as it was about voting against.
In Sluta the women singing is Ann-louise Hansson, one of the iconic arists in Melodifestivalen. Molle, the guy in bed is not her son but a reality show star at the time. They are not related at all.
@@thesnesgeek also it would be so easy to write the placement it earned. it would be VERY easy for this channel. and very informative for us. but they refuse to do it in all of the videos they do.
Brandasta City Släckers, Méndez and Afro-Dite are the standouts
R.I.P Javiera and Kina Jaarnek

Fun fact: Jennifer Newberry has the least of amount of televotes in the entire shows history.
One of the guys in the poets was one of writers of loreens Tattoo that won this year and also to the song from cyprus
I hate how you don't write ranking or anything
It’s a recap, not a ranking.
@@thesnesgeek why wouldn't they also include how the songs were ranked? it can be both, you know.

Zoes song is called Hollywood-Do, not just Hollywood
Arvigarna
What does Melodifestivalen mean is it like a summer music festival I have seen this word couple of times already
it literally means "the melody festival", it's to decide the entry for Eurovision but it's more popular in Sweden than Eurovision itself
