never knew it has such a cool roof reclining mechanism, never was a huge del sol fan but can see it's appeal now, it's a cute little sports car

antsolja I was looking to buy a Mazda MX5 at the time, but then I came across the Del Sol and when I found out the roof was like this I was hooked, took me a year to find one with the spec I wanted, and I do use the roof as often as possible! ...I like how people stop to watch it lol

i wonder if its possible to modify it to go faster, it looks super cool but it takes a long time

This is oddly satisfying. I wouldn't buy one and I feel like the roof system is bit clumsy, but that's also what's so neat on this car and makes it unique.
Edit: It's like having roof elevator / container for your roof.
what I learned from having a del sol. It's better on the handles to close both at the same time.

Had but had to sell it 😭. The car had so much character. Put some basic alloys on and fitted a kandn air filter. Was enough with the v tec. V nice car

This was one over the engineered car but that what Honda is famous for and what a great fun car just as good as any mx of the time. It's such a shame Honda did not compete with the mx5 as we could have had some great 2 seater convertibles. Wish honda we get back into niche cars

which models have the auto roof?I want to buy a del sol when I move to Germany but noone says if it's auto roof or not... :-/
I believe the electric roof was available as an option on all models so some have it and some don't, mines a VTi and a friend has an SiR both with the transtop roof. (Mines the one in this video)
Not available as option in ALL markets.
The SiR is an import model (Japanese designation only).
SiR is also a designation for getting the top spec Engine (not other options). You can have a base Delsol (no other option) but fitted with the B16a and it will be designated SiR.
Electric roof available only in Japan, Europe(UK, Germany, France possibly other European countries) and South America (not sure if all or some south american countries only).
Electric roof never available in North America (Canada, USA, Mexico).
Electric roof never available in Australia
How much heavier is it than the manualtarga top????
how do you get the reciever in bootlid to come out amd grab roof. the reciever in the bootlid that im working on isnt working . is there a button other than whats on dash right hand?

rear window switch should be on the driver's side door next to the lockout window button

I always assumed it was manual targa top.
They did you could buy it with a electric roof from the factory.
It's either a roof you have to manually take off or the electric roof as shown in the video.
I personally have the manual option which is way faster to take off since the roof doesn't really weigh that much
