I have been told that this method also works for the following chainsaws: - Husqvarna 257 - Husqvarna 351 - Mac 340. And many others, check the comments.
My name is Sergio Duarte. I'm from the south of Brazil. Thank you very much, thank you, thank you very much. Great your video. I didn't know how to put this brake spring. I then looked on the Husqvarna website where I found an exploded view in which mechanical design engineers put this spring outside the brake part. Suddenly I found your video. I am most grateful. Congratulations! A big hug!
Exactly what i needed, couldn't work out how the spring in the handle went back together, the first few seconds showed me ! thank you very much, was starting to get frustrated. My saw is a 142e similar to yours. Thanks again!!
Nice work... been searching the inner webs for a 272xp chain brake handle replacement... this was the closest thing I’ve found... and it was what I needed. Thanks
Thank you for your kind words! Maybe they were blind lumberjacks? Anyway all videos have thumbs downs and so what.. We do this to help each other, and that's what matters, right? :)
No speaking needed. It takes me back 50 years when they had the wordless workshop in "The Family Handyman" magazine my dad used to get when I was a kid.
By chance do you have one of the disassembled brakes locked in the covers off machine and find all kind of the two of the versions but not this one would be appreciated
I used a 5 Pages shop manual on how to replace chain Brake and NOT a single word or drawing about hairpin spring in the handle.!!! Your video saved my day repairing Husky 257 saw. GREAT..
Never lend a chainsaw to ANYONE - if my friends need some trees felling then I'm happy to do it for them but no-one gets to touch my chainsaw except me... This video was a massive help! Just the right amount of information; clear and concise - thank you SO much!!
Iso Kiitos. Meni Husqvarna 40:n haarukkajousi kappaleiksi ja tuli vaihdettua. Purku oli helppo, mutta kasaaminen olikin vähän haasteellisempi homma. Säästit videollasi aikaa ja hermoja.
Inherited the Husqvarna 51 and was left outside in the weather. The brake was stuck so I took it apart and was about to order a new plate and brake until I found this video. WOW...would never figured it out with the help of this video. PERFECT. Also, the chainsaw fired right up after sitting outside for a long time.
I assembled it with the spring loaded, and it seemed stuck. Maybe just needed lot of force, like in your video. You can use a plastic quick-grip clamp to load the spring easily, and safely... Why such a heavy clutch for a tiny saw? This is prone to failure.
@@AnttiHarri Look at the casing from the top when it's assembled, where the long spring is. That overengeenered spring is trying to tear it apart. It might be why the Australian ebay is full of 2 prong springs for the front of it. I found the 1998 45 at the tip, with a locked brake. It's a great saw, and that air injector is a great idea, but that spring is no good. What would you do? 1. shorten the spring by cutting it 2. weaken the spring by heating it 3. buy a new, different spring from the People's Republic of China 4. find out what kind of spring keeps the public telephone receiver up 5. buy an Australian "spring roll" and put that in instead of eating it, only that's even tougher and more rubbery there is no wrong answer
Your video was perfect for my chain brake issue. I have a Jonsered 625 which is identical to the Husqvarna in the video. My issue is when you unlocked the chain brake at the end of the video it was done off camera. how did you put it in the unlock position while the assembly was off the saw? Thanks
Add another "also works for" to your list. I had almost given up on my Poulan Pro 260. There was only cosmetic differences between your video and the PP260. Thanks alot.
Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou! Exactly what I needed as I could not do it without the video. Works also on Craftsman 358.350460 Chainsaw or any other Chain Break of part number 545139910. Again Thankyou!
This video saved me! Got my Jonsered 2040 Turbo back together with your help, Antti. Thank you for such a clean, clear video of exactly what I needed to know
Thank you very much, was having a hard time putting it all back together when i got the new side piece in, ended up breaking the retaining spring and had to wait another week to get it. now its back together and runs like its supposed to.
You are a star, had a McCulloch Titanium 420, took the chain brake apart as it was not working, and i could not figure out it all went back together again, it's easy when you know how, thanks a million
except the tiny pin you push out of the way at 2:00, this is identical to my Partner 351 saw, and damn that spring was hard to pull out of its brake position
After buying a Chinese junk assembled chain brake, that of course didn't work, I was able to pull the handle and push assembly and spring and retrofit them into my brake assembly. Without your explicit picture of how the handle spring goes onto the brake assembly, I'd have gone and spent $90 on a Husky assembly from the dealer. Instead, I spent zero and put all the spare parts in a bag to save in my chainsaw parts box. Now if only I could get my 435 running right!
That's great! That's what RUclips is all about! Hit the like button if you want to thank me. :) If that saw is anything like 55 then get new set of crank seals and remove the little tabs (emission prevention) from the carb if you have them to better tune it. Chinese seals were fine for me, the saw was always hard to start especially when it was warm, even as new. The ign coil from Ducati is garbage too, get a chinesium replacement. Now my husky is working quite fine, the stop-button is broken but I can turn it off by having choke on for a second or two.
Wow thank you man! Great Video. I had removed it to clear a bunch of gunk that was messing with the saw and realized that as usual i forgot to note how the spring was positioned in the handle. Any how I am an idiot and you helped me be less of an idiot now :D
im rarely stumped by things like this but that spring handle had me,i couldn't for the life of me figure out how the hell it went in,even on manufacturers diagrams its show in completly the wrong place, your a genius
Perfect. Needs no words!
Had trouble locating the handle spring. This man is fantastic, great video very comprehensive ten out of ten. Many thanks
Exactly the information that I needed! Thank you kind sir!
F***ing thank you!!!! Perfect video. Saved me a lot of headache
Same thing. Lost 2 hours before this video.
This is great! I've been struggling with the brake for over two weeks now :D
From Argentina, Men !!! you are a GENIUS, the best !!! Thanks, God belsses you. And withouth words !!!
perfect Thanks bro You saved my husqvarna 257
Thanks I added 257 to the description.

OMG I have been looking for this information. Dealers were unable or unwilling to help. Thank you so much!
You're welcome! :) Here the dealers said it usually doesn't need any parts replaced so I started looking into putting it back together.
You went off camera to do the most important task, release the chain break.
Perfect Video. Thank you!

works for husqvarna 42 also
Thank You so much! This was really helpful!
THANKS SUPER VIDEO
...also can't understand why anyone would give this video a thumbs down unless they're shills for a repair shop.

Shills definetely
Gonna try it on husky 61 stamped brazil as origin
You are a Saint!
Tendi foi nada kkkkkk
thank you for posting, much appreciated.
Thanks so much that is a perfect video. So many videos on chain brake but but not many with that pesky Handle spring!!!
Thanks! This is the first video I have seen covering the assembly of this particular style. It is the same design as an older model 272xp.
No speaking needed. It takes me back 50 years when they had the wordless workshop in "The Family Handyman" magazine my dad used to get when I was a kid.
Super dzięki temu filmowi naprawiłem hamulec w swojej pile.
This is the 2nd time I've used this vid! 😆💦 It's just excellent!!
This has helped me to put spring back inside the handle on Hasquarna 41. All the other videos online tell you not to take the handle apart :).
Most important video on RUclips. Works for model 141 also.
Спасибо,очень помогло ваше видео,пружина выскочела,не понял как ставится 👍
Thanks, I was stuck trying to get the chain brake back together on my
Husqvarna 61.
Спасибо, добрый человек. ... из России с любовью....)))
Just what I needed. I'm a reasonably handy kind of guy, but this spring had me stumped. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks for this video. I couldn't figure out the spring on my Jonsered 2050 which is identical to your Husky.
Same brake assembly on the Husky 288XP, and is exactly what I needed to properly assemble the inner spring with the two fingers. Thanks!
Great vid. thankyou very much.

Why such a heavy clutch for a tiny saw? This is prone to failure.
It's only heavy to use if it's not attached to the saw. You get better lever and better grab once it's attached back.

Yep it's really counter intuitive how it goes there. I originally made this for myself, because I got tired of spending a day to figuring it out.
you think maybe next time you can turn the volume up on your mic (Sarcasm).
