People don't realize it was in Canada, and the distances were immense. Mountain ranges, multiple, with passes high enough to shorten the breathing, -40° temperatures. Zero roads, few ways to access. Definitely NOT something for the people who thought they could just get there quickly.

Now THIS is going to be up my alley! Thank you! Might come back for an update!
In days gone by, I would've been begging to go on this trip. Now I'm quite content to watch it.
Oohh I loved this first episode!
Even with modern equipment I would be dead in a week.
😅 extremely relatable
You’d be fine
At least that would good for the others.....fresh meat.
This is great!
Charlie Chaplin- Gold Rush. One of my favourite movies.

Not in a steamer but by mini van 🤣
Amazing, things we do for fortune
I love these documentaries they do

Like the California gold rush, but colder.

There is additional food around if people did some research before they began. Berries, herbs, small animals, and even some of the trees are edible.
High stakes LARPing
Why no horses?
The climb? It was mer impossible to have horses. You also have to feed, shelter and keep them out of harms way.
I want to see where the gold went after all these years.
What year is this from lol
No thanks. 3 day canoe trip with portages was enough for me. And Ive refuse to sleep in a tent without an air mattress ever since.
I don't think they drove cars in 1897!

Modern medicine.
@@jackrigdon6270 Nah. Everything took a backseat to the search for gold.
