I just got one of them to restore it, but I have a small problem. Bought mine in Germany and the keyboard is set as QWERTZ, tried to change the setting to English to see if that would change but nothing. Did you have a problem with that one?
Hi, first of all great videos, many great memories. I recently bought a new/unused factory sealed Nokia N97, because back in the days it was my first Flagship phone i could buy from my own money. Now I can't find the newest firmware V22 to update it. Are you able to post a link to the V22 firmware. Thanks in advance.
Hello. Thank you. Awesome that you found a new one! I will look and test it on my N97 before I post anything. To be sure, you have the N97 like in the video ( the one that has a sliding cover over the camera), NOT the N97 mini. Sorry for asking this dumb question, but I argued a lot with people who confuses the N97 with the mini version.
@@Retrophonesstuff Yes yes it's the Nokia N97 RM-505. It's the same you unboxed, mine is just a Navigation Edition which means that I got couple others items in the box. I never liked the Mini version of the N97. Thank you for your response.
I found this update: www.frendx.com/firmware/download-nokia-n97-rm-505-v22-0-110-stock-firmware-flash-file/ It has only english and filipino language. I tested it on my N97 RM - 505. I updated it using BB5. I hope it helps.
@@Retrophonesstuff Hi... The app starts and I'm able to set the frequency but when I turn on the radio in my car and search, it couldn't find my phone. Even manually set the frequency on the radio only give me static. This is not a problem with my Nokia N8.
This may be a dumb question but , have you enabled it after you set the frequency? The antenna is located at the bottom together with the bottom speaker...like in the video. Maybe the pins are not touching corectly. But before you open in, try updateing the firmware or do a hard reset. Sometimes it's just a software issue and a reset or reinstall helps.
@@Retrophonesstuff Yes, its on. I also did reset but still nothing. The app would stay on as long as I'm playing music. It will stop after awhile if music is on pause. I ended up opening the device and check the bottom part like you mention. The pins seem to be standing but the speaker housing where the 3 pins rest are in silver color and it looks like its not a complete circuit. Its just 3 stripes and I suspect its painted.
If it's looking like the one the video then it's good. Yes, the 3 stripes are covered with some sort of black paint. Before you change it, try updating the firmware.

@@Retrophonesstuff Of course it helps, thank you very much for your research.
You're welcome.
Can you help me recover deleted files from my Nokia N97 phone?
Hi... I just bought a refurbished unit and the FM transmitter is not working. Do you know how to fix it and where is the antenna located? Thanks
Hello. Can you please describe more details...is the app starting? Can you set a frequency?
