Lol :) I dont know, what kind of freak i am - i like this noisy server :) Haha. With 64GB or 128GB of ram it would be so awesome to virtual servers, inside this beast - ideal sandbox to play with ;)
mariusz dziem that machine is going to have a Lot of running hours and probably not a lot of power off hours.. That thing is probably going to be run a lot
Comment from OP - 18/10/2022 this server is now at my home. retired from corporate use. kept it for nostalgic purposes. SHE STILL LIVES !!!! will post a new video of it soon. love you all!
Hi, good afternoon. I wanted to ask you about the sound this server makes. Once all the operating system, firmware and SPP drivers are installed, when the server is relaxed it emits a lot of sound? Thank you!
@@alex993cc1 I have an ML110 G9 with a 4GB P440 controller that gets very hot, and it spins the fan at a high speed. Then I added a 60mm Noctua fan under the controller, and the noise disappeared completely. Now the fans work at 7%.. Thank you! I intend to change my server, and I think the high-speed fans will be the same problem.
Do you happen to remember what the approximate ambient temp was? Also, does it generally stay that quiet under load? I have an Ml 350gen8 that is absolutely deafening that I'm lookin to replace.
Garrett Collier wasnt hot enough to need an airconditioner in the office if that makes any sense. it generally runs the fans at idle even when under its normal usage load
Hey Alex - I just got one of these (spec'd by a partner of our) to install in a remote office that has a server closet (literally a closet but with open ceiling). I had a freak out on the ride to work this AM that the fan noise was going to be very loud... I'd been looking at the HP MicroTowers which are low-noise design. Anyhow.. in your opinion under normal use is this thing going to to be totally noticeable as it chugs along during the day? It's a large 500sqft open concept space with high ceilings, and the server closet is on the opposite side of the desk areas.. but like I said it's open ceiling as we didn't want to box it in and worry about having to pump A/C into the closet. Anyhow.. thansk for posting this video! It's clear the fans fire up during boot and I'm just curious about normal use/idle fan volume. :) Thanks!!
you can fit 48 2.5" hdd in these if i recall, so yeah, it would make a fucking epic file server, hope your NAS is massive if you want to back all of that up ;-)
+Dustin Ruoff ha! Yeah well we're only doing a 10TB raid and I've got a 10tb QNAP NAS :). Back at HQ we've got 40TB of 5.4k drives (could be 96tb of raw) in one and 10TB of 10k drives in the other ... Back up and archiving details are the worst!
i do the same thing for this client, except their dataset is much smaller, only 2TB, goes into an 8TB qnap, 4 backup sets retained incase something goes awry
Windows server cannot be installed in a normal PC. You can use a normal PC a backup but no redundancy what so ever. Consider buying the HPE micro server gen 10
Brand new server with all settings untouched. The drive is not being detected by exsi nor ubuntu server 15 on bootable usb. Only lights up during server start, off thereafter. What am I doing wrong?
+alex993cc1 I did not. first time working with servers. I just was told to install LAMP on it. Am a developer. I thot all I needed was to add the one drive, boot to exsi ish and install ubuntu via vmware but no cigar. How do I do the disk setup
Why do I not have an invite to see this machine, Oh that is right I would drool too much all over it,,, looks like it can have a lot of drives all in raid 6... if you wanted, Nice machine, love the jet engine sound :)
Would love to get one, but i need to get a Graphics card support kit just to put in a Graphics card...Server+Graphics Card+Graphics card enabler kit+HDD+OS.....jesus.
Nothing like the sound of some Delta fan's to let you know you know you are working with a real server.

I have one in my pc
1:11 engine fully started, ready for take off!!!
LoLz
Lol 👍
And finally it boots up and through an internal speaker comes "Im Sorry Dave, i cant open the airlock.".
I would be shitting bricks lol.
I love that noise :)
That thing can hold a loooot of hard drives. Wowee.
8 X 6 = 48 2.5'' drives ?
Almost bought one cheap. I wondered why the shipping was so expensive so I came here to see the size. Wow! Bigger than I need for my home NAS.

It looks just cool sitting there tilted vertical like a normal desktop :P
Hello,
where can i get the hard disk informations, like if RAID 1 is activated or not.

I do server support for Union Banks and this looks like a typical setup for them lol

Its not something you want to have in your quiet reading room, lets put it that way. It does quieten down a lot but still very noisy

Does it support esxi v7? And is there a way to minimize the fan noise? This nlw sells for less than a thousand but only problem is its noise level.

Thanks so much!
BOOO!!!!! yours has better engines than mine! ML350 G5 here :) Yours sounds like a model jet taking off :)
G8 does it too lol

unless its cooking its arse off it more or less idles the fans all day. no louder than any other equipment in the rack.
Thanks!! Yeah we're just using it as a file-server with nightly backups running to a separate NAS so.. We'll see! :) Thanks again!

Nice! Gotta love the noise these make!
is it normal that sometimes the fans are loud then being normal? I have this and the server have sa Hospital System in it.
So, how did you buy it? Did you buy it online?
+Aero Snake HP reseller. not a cheap machine.
alex993cc1 no doubt
Where is the hdmi cable spot for it?
VGA only mate
hello I get this error please help.
Erro. Runtime Fault, System Board, AUX/Main EFUSE Regulator 1 (20h)
Please say there is going to be more about this server. :D
Brad Mottram yes, there sure will be. and i have another, to do soon, 8 cpus, 256gb ;-) whet your appetite
the gen 9's can fit so much more drives than the gen 8's
Sounds like an F1 engine at parts. What cooling does this thing have in it lol?
Scara and Spud the standard HP cooling system of fans
can we use for production system for office based, using of autodesk maya and simulation works. can we use windows server os or normal win 10?
Windows server cannot be installed in a normal PC. You can use a normal PC a backup but no redundancy what so ever. Consider buying the HPE micro server gen 10
It's a plane ?
yes
can anyone tell me what to do next with server, like how to make it and how to use it remotely
bro just tell me do what to do next , should iincert bootable pendrive or dvd fot the interface
can boot from USB is easiest, but make sure the raid is configured first. use intelligent provisioning or smart array config
Wow, these servers take a hell of a long time to boot compared with a workstation
definitely all the stuff that is meant to make the server more redundant
You have to use HP's special memory?
afaik, this is correct, sir :)
@@alex993cc1 Nope, just regular DDR4-2133 or 2400 registered ECC will do.
I only bought one hard drive. Can this server work with only one HDD?
+wilwad yep you just wont have any form of RAID going thats all
Brand new server with all settings untouched. The drive is not being detected by exsi nor ubuntu server 15 on bootable usb.

+wilwad did you configure the drive in the smartarray setup?

+alex993cc1 Thank you for taking time to respond mate
Can it host Game servers? Like Garry's mod?
+Aero Snake Can it also have Java?
+Aero Snake yes, it will run most any OS you want, and any software you want
alex993cc1 Like windows XP?
heh that's not our normal 1U or 2U thingy.
Can anyone tell me the boot time. New server upack 20 mins boot time?????
this was literally the first boot. shouldnt take more than a few minutes unless something is misconfigured/broken
Fix it faulty sd card thanks..
1:11 sounds like siren
Why do I not have an invite to see this machine, Oh that is right I would drool too much all over it,,,

Nice machine, love the jet engine sound :)
Just bought one for data science work station, my familiy will kill me if start it at night !
Would love to get one, but i need to get a Graphics card support kit just to put in a Graphics card...Server+Graphics Card+Graphics card enabler kit+HDD+OS.....jesus.
not worth the money, just build a workstation grade computer from off the shelf parts. dual intel
alex993cc1 I'll buy this server and probably just get an hdd and the os only. I need it to host Garry's Mod and Arma servers.
2:40 "cool"
Damn that's huge
IT'S MINE!
lol what does it have inside ...delta fans lol
