The reason Subaru hasnt trained his "Invisible providence" wasnt really explained but the issue is everytime he uses it, its not just a tummy ache but rather he feels like his soul gets more and more degraded by it
The divine protection of the Death God basically makes any wounds the user inflicts impossible to heal. Magic won't heal it, and it won't ever close on its own. So even a minor wound becomes certain death after a while because it just keeps bleeding. The only way to stop it is to get the person with that power to stop it willingly. Or kill them. So Felix couldn't heal Mimi and could only wrap her up in some bandages, but her wound is basically still open. And it's bad.
It's so nice seeing Subaru getting the recognition he deserves but I feel like every time I feel happy for him something is about to happen.. so yeah the guard is always up

Only problem is, neither of them had anyway of knowing they could break through Mimi's shields. Especially since a few seconds earlier, her shield blocked one of their attacks.
