    Keep in mind that this is on ultra settings when they aren’t what most people play on. Most play on medium setting or some are low and some are ultra for the best edge. This will give many many more fps so with the rtx 2060 this will be absolutely fine for 144hz gaming.

    when thinking of 144hz gaming i think of doom, csgo and generally competitive games. (Br excluded since games with that much RNG just cant be competitive. its all about who gets the best stuff in the first few minutes) So the 2060 would be perfect for that and stable 60fps would be possible with everything else it seems. Still the price, like you mentioned, is too high. + i only recently got myself a 1060 6gb and im very happy with it. 1080p 60fps is very achievable on that puppy so yeah. will be a long time till i upgrade my gpu again.

      @@morid0 Man, this guy just has a wild imagination. There is simply no way to "optimize" a graphic card unless it is at driver level.. In his imagination he has made his super computer much faster.. the reality is that he just updated his drivers and maybe ran some crappy "optimization" program that will delete your caches and not much more...Unless he is struggling with the CPU, there is no real optimization you can do. The 2060 wont make any modern cpu to struggle to give full FPS.. so... Yeah, he has updated his drivers, the rest is his very own fantasy...Yeah, you can disable half your services in windows, but as as long your GPU isnt bottlenecked already, you wont gain a single fps from this....

  • @hoodwinky1
    @hoodwinky1 5 лет назад +12

    Really enjoy your style of presenting this info, keep 'Dawiding' it -- for sure!
    That said... if you're talking about 144 hz monitors and by extension 144 fps gaming, you're almost invariably talking about e-sports titles; in which it is GOSPEL to run the game at mid to lower-tier settings for anyone taking the game 'seriously'. Infact, 'all low' is the consummate standard, as I'm sure you must know! Players who care about this sort of thing are also the types of players willing to do anything to hit well over 144 fps -- for instance, a CSGO player wants around 300 fps ideally and just wants a graphics card that clears well over the 144 fps minimum -- at LOW settings. :)
    So, I'm sure testing at Ultra (come on -- as Tech Deals says 'ultra is for screen shots only'!) creates nice tidy, demarcated benchmarks, but it's far from a real-world scenario. I think it would be more realistic and therefore useful to make this explicitly clear in the video. Sorry if you did and I missed that, but I feel as an esports player myself, this is something that gets swept aside in favour of the
    'let's see what graphics this baby can do!' mentality that is mostly contained within the 60 fps/hz single-player market. I'd love to see frame-rates at settings 80% of the community will be playing on!
    Enjoyed the video, though!

    • @DawidDoesTechStuff
      @DawidDoesTechStuff  5 лет назад +4

      Thank you, I really appreciate the useful information in your comment.
      I should have more explicitly stated that the settings are unrealistic for the that type of gaming. One of the reasons that I didnt include tests with lower settings was because of the CPU bottleneck. Like I showed in the video, when running the games at ultra settings the CPU was sitting at just under 100% utilisation. When I did the tests at low settings the FPS didn't change much (which I should have mentioned in the video). Considering that I don't have access to a better gaming CPU I though I would just mention the CPU bottleneck and that you could get better results with a better CPU.
      I really should have spoken about the low settings use case more in the video though. As you very correctly quoted Tech Deals ultra is just for screen shots and you shouldn't be gaming there.
      My conclusion was made taking that consideration into account however and that is why I still recommended the GPU for 144Hz gaming even if my testing didn't show the best results.
      Thank you again for this great comment. I am still learning how to make the best videos possible so I really appreciate this kind of feedback.

    • @hoodwinky1
      @hoodwinky1 5 лет назад +2

      @@DawidDoesTechStuff Ah youtube just ate my reply, curses!
      I appreciate the bottleneck constraints, but I'd certainly love to see an aside along the lines of ''And for the competitive gamers, you can expect to achieve within the region of 'x' fps with 'comp' settings, which compares to the market leader achieving around 'y''', something like that, which hopefully doesn't take up too much diagnostic time or siderail the video.
      Also, love the choice of music. Accent is killer. Please never succumb to the allure of over-swanking (that sounds great eh) the production values to the extent that it becomes pandering to populism. Whatever makes you original will make you interesting. Just my salty grain for you there! :)

      Thanks for the great feedback on the video quality, I get what your saying about over-swanking. The thing is, I really enjoy the "film making" (and I know that's a ridiculous term to use in this context but I can't think of another one) aspect of making these videos.
      So I try to make the videos as beautiful as possible more for my own sake than anything. However I will keep that in mind.

    The best adviuce I could ever give someone is to wait. Keep checking prices and usually assume that prices will be %10-20 cheaper during black friday/cyber monday. Barring any DDR4 price gouges. Everything but GPU's seem to be getting cheaper and if your only looking to do 60fps 1080p gaming a rx 570 or similar will be good for you. Just remmeber to get 16gb of ram and a ryzen six core! Lots of games are utilizing more than 4 cores and will bottleneck your cpu resulting in lots of frames lost. If you like me and you watch youtube or movies while gaming or would like to stream/record your gameplay your gonna need at least a six core. Fortunately they are very affordable! Thanks AMD. Now only if they would bring a 1440p 144hz gpu to market for around $400!

      Solid_Snake I hate playing max settings, not cuz of the fps. , I can still hit 60-100 on all maxed, but shadows hinder the fights, textures literally do not make any difference and anti aliasing from high to epic does nothing, I put aliasing on medium, viewing distance epic and everything low, and the game looks great. Any decent/good player at fortnite never plays in max / high settings.

    Tried all RTX's and 2060 does 60fps+ 1080p in all games i tried including battlefield 5 highest settings with raytracing.
    Is that not good enough? Mine is a ASUS STRIX only get up 60 degrees celsius and are really quit. Also overclocks to
    over 2100mhz and is still really quit. Almost does as good as GTX1080 just not in 4k because of the 6Gb ram. But the
    new SUPER's should be faster than GTX1080 according to my calculations. That is pretty good i think. And ALSO does
    raytracing. Because without they are still the fastest graphic card's. A 2060 almost beating an 1080 when did that happen
    last?
    The GTX1060 could not beat the 980 anyways. And still people pay much more for the old series?

    I have a 1660Ti and I play Overwatch on 144hz without any problems whatsoever. Capped frames at 144 and it stays that way. Of course, it sometimes drops to 139 when there is too much shit going on but it isn't noticable.
    Edit: Settings to low of course, but I'd do that even if I had an RTX 2080 Ti, because this game has so much clutter, you are in a competetive disadvantage if you play it on High settings.

    kudos for 0.1% low; EDIT: thank you for raising awarness about the issue. Maybe you can make comparison between 143 avg fps and 143 locked fps without drops with perfect-line graph. You may discover this is yet another level of fluent. Another would be putting locked 120fps through samsung tv configured for dejudder and blurr reduction, ex q8fn from 2018. There are worlds above the one you talk about. I wish you luck on your journey.

    If you are trying to get 144fps like most e sport players want they don’t use max settings ultra nor epic. They want it to be reliable that’s why they play high settings 1080p. Even though they have dual 2080 tis they don’t play on 4k. They still play 1080p. I’ve seen some pros evens play 900p to get the most reliable FPS without overheating GPU or cpu.

    • @Trikipum
      @Trikipum Год назад

      You could go 1440 27 inches. You get decent image quality, not so hard performance hit and for games that fail at that res, you could still play at 1080 without scaling and would be like playing in 25 inches 1080 screen. I think you even get better pixel size this way but im not 100% of this and im too lazy to look for it.
