    I've bought this keyboard, it sounds very good! And yeah it is quite underwhelming that it didn't had a felt strip over the keys, but that is an easy fix, I asked my grandma if she had some soft red fabric, almost the same as an actual felt strip, good thing she got some left overs from her sewing cloths and I added it to my keyboard, and to my surprise, the keyboard absolutely looked more attractive and the key bed's noise got muted so much!!
    Like even if I'm playing it at it's lowest volume, I do not hear any key noises.

      They did improve especially on the piano and epiano sounds and better DSP, but it still feels lacking compared to the Yamaha, especially if you listen to the styles. The percussions and other sounds still sounds tinny.
      Good thing though is Casio knows how to price their product so it's still competitive with Yamaha so i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to beginners.

    Thanks again, Jeremy for pointing me to this keyboard. I just tonight figured out that I can mute the voice and layer and just use the rhythm and accompaniment with my DAW's instruments, playing the backup through the keyboard's speakers. Very handy for trying out songs using the software instruments. I've always wanted some kind of workstation function for with my DAW, and this keyboard provides just what I need without having to program in drum patterns in the DAW. Such good value in this keyboard.

    Another great video. Along with the Yamaha PSR-E373, the Casio CT-S400 is the best two arranger keyboards for the same price, or best value. The Yamaha had it's great features, but the Casio has a smaller footprint, or slimmer portable form factor, with the guitar strap pegs, textured keys and the wireless BT capability with the optional dongle, plus the pitch bend wheel, and is great for playing worship & praise music 🎶 ✝️ 🕊 🙏 😇 .
    Lots of great tones, rhythms and such. I think it will be best to get this one, after the CT-S1.
    The tones and effects are even more incredible, especially in layers that I haven't heard in other keyboard in anywhere near the price until you get to about $1000+ like the the Roland V-Combo, RD 88 and comparable keyboards in the price range. These two Casios are both wins, depending as mentioned previously, when features you need, but great if you can get both, and the Yamaha PSS-A50 makes a great, compact and affordable partner to the CT-S1 for rhythm, bass or backing parts, and second keyboard to play another part.
    Masataka Kono has mastered that and his latest video epitomizes what I just mention above and previously about the sound and utilization of the PSS-A50...
    This shows why you should get the CT-S1, over the CT-S400 if you are focused on playing with the 61 tones over the 600 tones, rhythms, pitch bend and arranger functions.
    Masataka Kono has seemless tone changes thoughout his arrangements not using just the same sounds throughout the song, particularly with the PSS-A50, where you can hold notes and switch to another tone and pkay both until you release the first tone, and keep switching like he does on other songs, like when he plays the PSS-A50 alone, sounding like a full multitrack arrangement played in real time.
    But the CT-S400 is great if you do need those features, especially if you write, record, need the extra tones, pitch bend, etc. Both being so affordable, you could get both, like I plan to. Plus, having the Roland Go:Keys and JD-Xi, and maybe get the Yamaha Reface CP will round out what I would need and want without going to the more expensive keyboards I mentioned if I was a professional gigging keyboardist.

    Hello sir. I'm a beginner that wants to learn piano, And my oh my have these Casio pianos that have grabbed my attention. I want to know which Keyboard offers the best piano sound out of the CT-S400 or the CT-S1. which one do you think has a more rich and pure piano experience.

    • @ChristianKoehler77
      @ChristianKoehler77 3 года назад +9

      If your focus is piano (and perhaps similar instruments like electric pianos) and not arranger features ("band in a box"), I'd go with the CT-S1.
      CT-S400 has way more sounds, but most of them are rahter "generic" (from other Casio keyboars).
      Many of the 61 sounds on the CT-S1 on the other hand are designed and tuned specifically for that keyboard. I think the DSP effects are also better on the CT-S1. I don't know weather that keyboard has more preccing power for DSP or weather the effects are just tuned more carefully.
      Piano experience is very good without having to tweak anything. The piano sounds cover classic and contempoary piano music well.
      CT-S1 also has a higher polyphony count, it can play and sustain more notes at one without "dropouts".
      Be sure to get a sustaun pedal as well (doesn't have to be from Casio, the generic ones work just as well).
      CT-S400 is the better choice if you want lots of options to tweak, rhythms, many sounds (especially sounds not related to piano) etc.
      Jeremy also has a video that compares both keyboards directly.

      Yes, I was torn between the exact two keyboards. I went with the ct-s1, because I am hearing amazing things about the unique and quality sounds for the money. I do wish it had weighted keys but I like the slim and lightweight nature of the keyboard and the overall design. I figure if I stick with the piano long enough I can upgrade later on to a weighted electric piano. And when i do that I may just go for a Previa.

      Neither the CT-S400 or CT-S1 have enough polyphony for serious use. 128 min. is what I would like to have on a digital piano. 256 or unlimited is preferred. 8 note polyphony min. on a synthesizer is the least I would accept with 16 desired.

    Hi Jeremy. The CTS400 just seems like a CTX700 thats been reconfigured for portability. You briefly mentioned that the keys feel better, but is it better enough to justify the additional cost? Maybe a headon comparison video, eh? Cheers!

    If you don’t need ultra-portability, Casio has another keyboard which is up to $100 cheaper than the CT-S400 & LK-S450, has the same tones, rhythms, features, and functionality as well as the ability to save 32 registrations without sacrificing the lesson mode.
    Please tell me the exact model

    I agree that the CT-S400 makes the most sense...particularly if you are a beginner or intermediate player. That includes the CT-S1.
    Added Bluetooth MIDI to all my digital pianos, synthesizers, and a MPC using WIDI Masters. It's a handy feature.

      Is there any way to make keyboards wireless that only have USB MIDI ports? Like the printer style cables I mean. Not sure that you can do it really but just wondered if there was ever a solution to achieve that in some way, because I have a Yamaha NP-12 which is powered separately by an adaptor, so I only need the USB MIDI part to be wireless.

    • @matthewgaines10

      @@yeeeha5674
      CME of WIDI Master fame has been talking about USB MIDI adapters. They have a type A connector but not a type B one yet. They also have the WIDI Jack that should be capable of adapting to type B. I would ask them if the WIDI Jack works for type B. I am certain they cover 5 pin DIN, 6 pin DIN, TRS DIN, and USB type A MIDI formats. The WIDI Jack likely covers type B.
      Update:
      WIDI Uhost is for USB B. So yes, you can. There is a wireless solution for every type of MIDI port type. Powered or unpowered.

    • @ChristianKoehler77
      @ChristianKoehler77 3 года назад

      @@yeeeha5674 Yes. But you have to combine zwo devices. There are "USB MIDI Hosts". This is a box that connects to a USB port on a keyboard and converts it to 5 pin MIDI. Important: This is different from a USB-MIDI interface that converts a USB port on A PC to 5 pin MIDI, so be carefull what you buy.
      There is "WIDI", a tiny adapter that plugs into two 5 pin MIDI ports (in and out) and makes them wireless with bluetooth.
      You can put a WIDI on a USB MIDI host and you are good to go.
      Downsides: Expensive. Two devices required. The MIDI host requires a power source, usually 5V USB. The MIDI USB port on the keyboard does not supply power. If the keyboard also has a USB-A port (for a memory stick, wireless dongle or something) you probably can get the power from there. Otherwise you'd have to use a USB power bank or a phone charger.
      As far as I know nobody makes a box that combines both devices in a single box, yet.

    • @matthewgaines10
      @matthewgaines10 3 года назад

      @@ChristianKoehler77
      Of course each device has to have its own Bluetooth transceiver unless it has one built in such as a tablet, phone, or laptop. Isn't that logical? That is why it clearly states in the original post that I added Bluetooth MIDI to all of my keyboards and a MPC.
      Expense is a matter of opinion. It isn't free but it is cheaper than buying the Casio Bluetooth module if all you need is DIN MIDI (WIDI Master) or a WIDI jack. Furthermore, all USB and most DIN MIDI ports are powered so no additional power is needed on the five devices I set up (Roland, Akai, Yamaha, and two Casios). The rare DIN MIDI port from legacy keyboards are unpowered and require an external power source. A dedicated USB MIDI controller also may not have a powered jack being it draws power from a host via USB to operator in the first place. Those MIDI controllers aren't good canidates for wireless connections at all. A WIDI Uhost or WIDI Jack is needed only when DIN MIDI isn't an option or legacy DIN MIDI ports aren't powered.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 3 года назад +1

      I didn't notuce the note drop, but the CT-S400 has less polyphony than the CT-S1. The latter has more polyphony due to the lush, layered tones. It has nothing to do with key action or technique.
      My Roland Go:Keys has 128 note polyphony, and so does my JD-Xi synthesizer, but they are $350/$600 keyboards. I have never seen quality keyboards like these in the $200 range and have more than 64 note polyphony that I can recall. They could do it, but it would cost a lot more, and most players getting more affordable keyboards in this price level don't need it.
