  • I took the Ents' marching song from the book and edited it into the scene from the film. Enjoy!
Song performed by Clamavi De Profundis, with my own mixing to make it sound more like the Ents themselves are singing. Find the original here: • The Ents' Marching Son...
Scene from JRR Tolkien's The Two Towers and Peter Jackson's film of the same name.

The ents didn’t know most of Saruman’s army was gone, they didn’t care either. They went to Isengard with one goal, to cause as much damage as they possibly could before they all died. They went there fully expecting to die to the last.

It's been a while since I read the books, but I think it happened this way: The ents meet at the Ent moot, and it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that they are going to attack Isengard. Treebeard's quote about it being the last march of the ents may have been true; they were going to march on Isengard with or without the army there. But when the army left, they took advantage of the situation. The way they did it in the movie makes no sense, because it's a giant forest, and they decide to sit on their butts doing nothing, and then Treebeard yells and suddenly they have an army ready and they have a fully-formed plan (ents attack Isengard, redirect the river, and huorns follow the Uruk hai). In the book they had been planning for a while, and the army leaving was just a fortunate coincidence.

It's a bit weird in the movies since from the edge of Fangorn forest, Treebeard and the others can clearly see that Saruman's army isn't there anymore

@@brendangolledge8312 ye the book as far as i recall from trivia and the fragments from when it was read to me as young , i think the moot not decided agenst it outright and since the movie also cut out one of the semi big characters at the forest encounters ''like a forest keeper druid or such'' its event chain is a bit more 'hamfisted' but i think it is true to the books that the moot was very reluctant not knowing its own strength or how dire the situation truely was thus not decided yet so the hobbits 'speeded up' their decision with some sort of clever stuff sort of like the movie scene ,just not so ''instant events'' yet it think otherwise its a decent 'representation' of events
though as for the river and forest part , thats lees planning i think in both the books and movie and more ''fk it this is to much! all ent giants! gather here we charge isengard in x time before it grows stronger and once there we wreck all we can spot , so ..spots mine shafts ,toss boulders in it! sees dam break it! ..and tree's awaken all of you that remains down the slopes of the mountain and move in that direction to the other mountain turn all orcs all urukhai in your path into fertilizer to grow the forest deeper!''

What makes this song so incredibly powerful, is the notion that the Orcs have awoken the wrath of the Trees themselves. Nature itself has gone to war, and whoever angers them is a dead man walking.
In this scene Tree Beard isn't calm. Not by a long shot. He's earth shatteringly furious, his friends were killed by the wizard they had trusted to know better. And for that, the Trees will bring their wrath down upon the walls of Isengard.
