I’m a bit confused regarding how non-flatpak applications or installs function or persist following an OS update. Do changes or tweaks such as this still function following an OS update?
Is the ""automatic" mount really for the automatic mout after every RESTART of the DECK? I have tried executed the curl command for several times but each time restarting the DECK, the external microSD card is missing and I have to manually click on it in the decktop mode.... Do you know why?
@@SteamDeckGaming Thanks for the quick reply. Just see the file system is fuseblk in the properties of the microSD as a folder in the "Removable Devices". Neither NTFS nor EXT4. Shall I re-format it to NTFS or EXT4?
@Steam Deck Gaming in having the same issue as them-- using a external hard drive on 3.3, formatted to ntfs. After every full restart, I have to go back in and redo the steam library and mounting process. How do I fix this so that it is automatic?

Auto mounting my external ssd works for me but I don't know why it messed up with my micro sd,all my steam games on micro sd card turned in to Other files,and only emulated games on emudeck i can access.
Hope this will solve my issues with everything launching in deskstop mode instead of Gaming. When I first started in January everything thing ran well, my android Retroarch Saves, Naomi, FB, etc... then I switched the SSD to 256 everything and it ran great, last week got greedy and Finally got Yuzu and Xenia going and now Emulation station is acting goofy 🤦🏿 its all hit or miss these days.
@@SteamDeckGaming Yes the normal format. Got a xiaomi 1TB micro SD card from the vendor. Nintendo switch reads and formats it but fails on the Steam Deck.
Hey, just wondering if i take my micro sd card from my camera and then use it in my Steam Deck via formatting. Will this SD card then be okay to put back in my camera later down the line if i decide to? I know this will wipe all the data off each time but was wondering if formatting to the steam deck would unable me to use later down the line with my camera?

I have formatted the jsaux 2TB external drive but it will not show up. And to get it to sometimes show up I have to plug in a usb-a in the back on the dock. And I can't find it in any folders I've looked in.

You only need to set the password once.. it’s the same as an admin password on a windows OS. Also, good luck trying to find a “one button solution” to this cause there is none officially supported.
Thanks for the script! Although it doesn't fully work for me. It auto-mounts external HDD and sdcard (both in the same external dock) perfectly well, but it fails to auto-mount main sdcard inserted directly into my steam deck. I still need to switch to desktop mode each time and mount it manually. Do you know what could be the reason for that one not working?
@@SteamDeckGaming I'm not sure if I did it wrong, I installed the script correctly, it got added to my steam library and the sd got mounted. The app from the steam library works but when I restart my steam deck (and start from the gaming mode) the sd card is not mounted
@@ferluisch you haven’t done anything wrong. That happens sometimes if you don’t have anything actually installed on it or if it powers off incorrectly. Just repeat the desktop download game step and everything is there again.
@@Marchief84 I think the issue is that I don't currently have any games on the sd card (since it's just a ntfs windows bootable) but I do access it to get to my rooms. I can do it manually on desktop mode or your app with some clicks, but wonder how can this be done on startup

The script works well to autp mount the drives. HOWEVER... after reboot, I have to readd the drive as having a steam library in desktop or it doesn't show up in game mode. Is mounted, but game mode doesn't recognize it as having a game directory. Any help is appreciated!
If I unplug my drive it stays showing under the storage page and when I plug it in none of my games work until I restart the deck with it plugged in, any remedies?
Sometimes steam forgets it’s there. Just go into desktop mode and go to download a game but stop after you pick the storage again. Or install a game that’s installed on the drive and it will instantly finish and remap all the others.

I’m using 2TB but I assume 4TB should be fine.
Does X4 work good on steam deck? It is quite CPU heavy and I remember there are a ton of small menus.

you would likely need to format it again when it goes in the camera, but no it will be fine to switch and format for each everytime

Yes you can! no need to run anything again, it should auto mount all drives connectes/as they are connected

Never had an issue with the internal SD card, maybe try reformatting the SD card as EXT4 on the deck

Only the Windows partition. For Steam OS it can be ntfs or ext4

I installed this but the ssd is not showing in game mode only in desktop mode. (ssd is plugged into the official dock) any fix?
Have you added a steam library to the ssd on desktop mode? Install the first game from there then it should show up fine till reboot.
