In addition to the sound being slightly decreased, I imagine it will also insulate and help retain heat during colder weather and help keep it cooler during the hot weather.
Sky one touch is Awesome with out a Headliner I have a 2021 Rubicon Jeep wrangler. I live on a Island why would I add a headliner that takes all the fun out of driving this machine. I love the noise....its just Awesome driving and enjoying The Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman. By the way I am a woman 💃💃💃
tip... use acetone or at least isopropyl alcohol to clean all surfaces before applying any of the Velcro adhesive especially on plastic parts that will have a mold release. Also use the adhesion promoter - primer as it’s designed for the specific adhesive from 3M
How about with the heat? South Florida here. I’m thinking on getting it. The heat comes through the one touch top like crazy! I need insulation from the south Florida sun. Did it help with heat?
Nice product just for extra insulation, most of the country bulk of yr is too hot or cold for this 4k roof to b a daily driver, other than quick to vent out heat 120+ when u 1st get in. If it had heating blanket wire u could plug into lighter it would definitely b worth $350ish+.
Thank you for the video. After installing the headliner, I seem to be having a popping sound coming from the rear of the jeep paren, I wonder if you have experienced this. I pulled down a portion of the headliner, pulled it tight again and reapplied, and it seem to go away however, with changes in temperature I continue to hear it. Any suggestions?
I installed a KC high lite bar and since then it’s extremely noisy. I actually cut some styrofoam insulation and inserted between horizontal rails but it looked too amateur. Definitely will look into this product!
I just bought my baby a week ago and I put a LED light bar on it. It looks beautiful BUT it’s so noisy that I’m contemplating taking it off. @Joe Boo did you find a solution? Did this product help reduce the absurdly loud noise from the wind bouncing off of the soft power top that comes from underneath the light bar?
Does it change anything about the way the top folds.. i want a gobi stealth roof rack over the top o the one touch. Does this headliner make the top bulk up more when it opens?
So with this product how does it compare sound wise to a jeep that has a hard top? I really wanted to purchase a Jeep with a Sky touch sunroof but after watching your videos I am now not so sure. For a person like myself who does not like wind noise should I stay away from the Sky touch sunroof? Thanks!
I would... plus the one-touch is hindering for roof rack like options. Lisa loves it, opens it a lot in the summer but we both agree we would not get it again.
@@dieseJL Thank you the reply and advice. Please keep up the great work and looking forwarded to your next video. GOD bless the both of you! Take Care!
In your opinion, is it adding any extra stress to the tops sliding mechanism, does the extra material add any bulk, I’m interested to see what it looks like open, from the outside.
Same thought … over time is it stressing the motors? And if it breaks you would need to remove because I am sure it voids the warranty. Hot Head needs to reimburse you😄🤙
All my freakin Velcro strips came off, I’m pissed now removing all the glue. I don’t even live in a hot climate. Plus my Jeep is winter stored…. Terrible adhesive, redoing it all now.
Wow, too bad it didn't take off some more dB!!! Ta least it will help you guys tonkeep the Wrangler more insulated... What' s left to do? Do you think it's only wind noise which is comming thru or is there also some tire noise? Mud terrains Maybe aren't the best option for the Softop? What do you think. Thank you as always for posting your experience. great video. Greetings from Spain!!!
@@dieseJL The AT's are actually quieter then the M/T's ! Trying to escape noise in a Jeep is an impossible thing to do ! The Quietest Option is an Insulated Hard Top ! The One Touch IMHO is the way to go..Open the Top, Crank the Tunes and cruise with big smiles !!
Very informative video! Two questions! Since the initial liner installation has the noise levels increased perhaps due to the liner loosening? Does playing music help decrease the wind noise?
The drivers section was subjectively quieter to Lisa but would have liked to see the dB reading as you did without the top. Not sure what your reasoning was for not showing that?????
No reasoning, we’re just small time you tubers, we forget to record stuff sometimes 😉 We did do another video though on decibel testing the top, it should be in there somewhere. If you’re interested check that one out!

A dieselengine w/better sound deadening mounts might help, but like u said brick thru air. Other way is hve a water jacket around more of head & engine where metal is thinner so it hold operating temp cleaner burn but more so deadens the sound greatly. I said it b4 diesel is a fail as is for customer & corp. It is to big for current engine bay, overly complex exhaust under side very tight on jeep too. Noise is biggest problem other than cargo & tow terrible hit vs gas. the problem is the axles for diesel must b dana 60 min or else overweight shit noise box.
Apparently he is comparing the noise on a Sahara JLU, which means with Street tires. I have experience on my own the difference of noise levels between different off road tires. Give it thougt... Hope you guys will make it! Noise can really be anoying. Comon Lisa go for it. You have a beautiful car. Two thumbs up!!!
Sounds to me like Jeep did a poor job with the quality of fabric. That is an expensive option to require an outside company to have to pick up the slack for Jeep.
@@rickberger3213 Maybe 2, way too much fluctuation on his scale, but even at 3 its a minor difference. Especially considering he still has the stock tires. That comment was two years ago so the price may have dropped a little but is still is not worth the price. But go waste your money, dude.
BY THE WAY - Hothead didn’t send us a unit for free, we purchased this. (We did ask though) 🤣🤣

I just wear my blue tooth ear phones and it’s all good no noise from Jeep or my husband 👍🏻
I’m right there with you 😂

I’d be more concerned about heat retention than noise reduction.

I'm glad you did this. I was planning to install one as well. Looks like it's worth the price.
It is!

Super helpful videos that look like they take up much time and effort! Thank you

They do take a lot of effort so make sure you subscribe 😬
Nice product. Insulates better in cold weather too i bet. Add another layer of headliner and retest 😄👍

let me get back to you on this
Doing the same with a Gobi rack so curious as well
So it basically did very little as far as sound insulation.2-3 DBs is a slight improvement, but for $350 is it really worth it
Well, like I tried to explain, 2-3 db is like a 20-30% decrease.
@@dieseJL ok thank you for the video
I know it looks bad but decibels are weird. As far as the ear test, I don’t think I would go without it 6 months later 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you so much for a great review!

Hard to tell really, I’m sure it does but it’s not a completely different vehicle or anything. We really don’t get the much heat here...

It’s about the same, music can’t cover up this noise 🤣
Can you show it from the outside when it’s retracted?
I can try, not sure how to easily share a picture...

I thought you mentioned you’d compare to a hard top but I don’t recall the results being in the video.
We did another video on just how loud the one touch was where we compared it to a hard top.
I live in Arizona and about to buy a new jeep. How does the top fair in the direct sun beating down on the top
I think it’s fine but you can protect it, we have a video on that
Hopefully you park it the garage when not if use in Az
Super !!
One more question, does it still make that tearing Velcro sound each time
you open it or has that subsided.
I think I’m going to do a short video on this, lots of people asking. Stay tuned!!
Awesome thanks, love the channel! Just picked up a 21 diesel high altitude
Congrats!

I' d really think there must be some noise comming from the tires too. Look at this video: ruclips.net/video/enzygClpbZw/видео.html

You can barely notice a 3 db drop so 1 db won't be recognizable to 99% of the population.
The price is now $4500. NOT WORTH IT!!!
Better be able to read minds with it installed for $500
@@BarkerDuck3825 Sorry for the typo. I fixed it. My wife's wrangler. She hardly ever uses the Sky One Touch.
$500 for 1Db difference? Fuk that.
