Attar/ittar of India: Gulab Singh Johrimal the world of fragrance

Gulab Singh Johrimal, a vintage name in Old Delhi is famous for selling ‘ittar’(perfume oil). The word ‘Ittar’ is also known as ‘Attar’, derived from the Persian word Atr, meaning fragrance.
For more than 200 years, it has continued spreading fragrance and currently owns two shops; one located at the Dariba Kalan and the other at Chandni Chowk.
And, to know more about ittar and the legacy of Gulab Singh Johrimal’s world of fragrance, we speak to Kushal Gandhi, the 8th generation of Gulab Singh Johrimal.

I got two attars from Gulab Singh Jorimal, one is called Glory and green musk. Honestly it's one of the best attars ever. The blend and scent of attars is absolutely amazing.

They make some of the best attars and perfumes. Good thing about their products are that they are free from alcohol and animal derived ingredients. So, they can safely be used in puja and religious ceremonies. I hope Krishna likes these natural fragrances. Regards, Hans

Hi, they have two shops - one in dariba kalan and the other in chandni chowk. Both are in old delhi. Dariba kalan is near the old jalebiwala in old Delhi (for landmark). The only ittar shop having two branches in the old delhi area. So, people know ghulabsingh johrimal ittar shops at both places.
