I remember the chaos that was caused when it happened, the bridge repairs seemed to take years to fix, they allowed traffic to flow in single file with traffic lights at each end of the bridge.

We lived in the house in Brunswick Wharf. We heard about it on the 10.00 o'clock news with Reginald Bosanquet and rushed outside to have a look.
