They are tons of steel, consisting of hundreds of intricately machined parts that work together in a choreography, which is equal parts ingenuity, poetry, and a century of accumulated knowledge - with the singular goal of taming, containing, and controlling a roaring fire, in order to turn water, which is the base of all life on Earth, into steam that can propel all this engineering orchestra along the most picturesque landscapes humankind has ever experienced.
Nostalgic. From India here - I'm one of the last of the generations to have enjoyed travel 1960s-70s, on the old steam traction days of the Indian Railways.
From Michigan, I was fortunate enough to live near a preservation group, my first train ride was on a steam loco, I even got to ride in the cab, the greatest day ever.
My dad took me for a ride just before the Titusville-Corry line (Pennsylvania) shut down. (Once vital in carrying the first commercially produced oil to the Great Lakes). Same kind of train that Pres. Harry Truman used for campaigning: spoke from the caboose at whistlestops! We lived history! Greeting from México.
When I was a kid I used to stand on a bridge when the trains would go under, got enveloped in steam and smoke, the bridge would shake, scary…but I loved it !
Daumen hoch! Gruss inselvideo.
A thing of beauty! There's something special about 1930's & 40's technology. Raw, pure human engineering. Something lost in today's all computer based systems and designs.
Once I had the opportunity to travel from Madras to New Delhi . The engine was a big Steam Engine. I enjoyed the travel, with plenty of soot on your hair💕💕🚂🚂🚂🚂
Yes, they spew a lot of smoke, are dirty and not environmentally friendly, but who cares? Nothing can equal their charm and the theatre that surrounds them. For oldies like me, they are really nostalgic. Loved it every bit.
With excursion runs the only thing the "helper" engine actually helps with is providing heat and power for the coaches, since modern coaches are designed to run with a head-end power unit and aren't compatible with the steam heat ports on the steam locomotive, and then as a backup if the steam locomotive breaks down. So if anything it's actually additional weight on the passenger train.
Si volvieran al Uruguay esas maquinas yo soy la primera en subir a una de ellas y en especial junto al maquinista me emociono mucho cuando las veo por yotube ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😢😢😢
There's somethign so intimidating and menacing about steam trains that just gives me chills
Ww2?
Exactly what I’m saying bro!!!

Me too, but in the UK.
Mee too in India
Are there any steam trains left in India? I was hoping there might be one or two I could visit?

I love a good steam train as well as the next person but standing directly above its exhaust seems very dedicated lol
He seems exhausted..
There's nothing like it, the mix of steam with the smell of coal and hot oil is indeed a heady concoction!
The smell is wonderful.
I thought it would be hot.
Love the sights and sounds of steam trains. 🚂

We used to wave at the engineer & get a wave back. Big deal for little 'uns!

Vielen Dank! Leider hatte das Timing nicht so gut gepasst. Der eine Zug hat viel früher zum Überholen angesetzt als ich erwartet hatte.
The red and black are awesome ❤❤❤❤. I love steam locomotives
Would love to see those locomotives in person, thanks for sharing
How can machine be seen in person?,they are an inanimate object
What beautiful locomotives and how well they are cared for so that they continue to travel the railway paths. Very nice video

nice video
Was that some sort of electric locomotive at the back of the passenger train?
i was wondering the same thing! Cheaters!
Absolute beauties!!!! Love the red undercarriage!
Super
Very nice video
the steam train on the right has some help in the back of it. Did anybody see that engine on the back of the right one
Absolutely beautiful ,,,

but no one really complains about that, do they. Given the number of functional steam locomotives that exist.
Love this.
Obviously the one carrying people and a helper engine in the back is going to win.

Interesting. Thank you for this!@@VestedUTuber
Красота. Гонки на паровозах.
Durch Zufall eben entdeckt. Ach was war das damals schön❤. Hab es als Kind noch erlebt.
Just Stop Oil loves this, no oil, pure coal.
A nice video. Still I'm sure British steam locos are the most beautiful in the world.
Good of Germans to have preserved their steam traction.
Amazing, . Steam.Engine

Muito lindo viu gostei de ver
Yes ofcourse, very nice
Isn't it also dangerous for like a bigger engine to go backwards?
Both red and black paint jobs ❤😊
They should replace the diesels with these!! They wouldn’t lose traction and power with these!!
What. A. Scene. Funny. Funny. Funny.
Good Job bro😊
From my limited knowledge, grey smoke indicates more efficiency so is that possibly why the engine with the black smoke was slower
the steam.....and everyone waiting.....hmmmmm - something awesome is coming!
A sight straight out of World War II
The distance train whistle gave me nightmares💀
Woowwww sangat menarik sebagai tontonan
