Kinda. After a certain point, the height doesn't really matter due to terminal velocity. After you hit that point, the higher you take it won't really change the outcome.
It's like if you jumped out of a plane vs off the Empire State Building. You're going to be hitting the ground with similar force, so 15,000ft vs 1500ft isn't that big of a difference in velocity

It basically has a case already on it that is designed to pop off to absorb the impact. We can't do that with phones today because you can go diving with them.

Either way, the height isn't really the factor but how it lands and the type of surface it lands on. They also had the two smartphones in cases which are designed to absorb impact. Would have been more interesting to have them dropped without the cases.

That was my first phone literally, and I ran it over with a minivan LOL and it survived. I think if it hit the earth it would be similar to a small black hole or depleted uranium and just punch through the crust to the opposite side over and over. It also had the game "Snake" (for all you kids out there it was like fortnite but you kept your self respect and it was 2D). Ugh, good times.

I discussed with a bunch of Nokia engineers back in the day (before Nokia was only a funny meme and it was the biggest phone company in the world) and they said those phones were robust because the energy dissipated in all directions when the phone was dropped and the battery and covers etc. separated. Modern cellphones retain all of the impact energy in the frame and there's large glass panes that gets most of the blow.

But with some momentum towards the earth, one could drop something. But an 3310 would burn in the atmosphere during reenter.
