To answer your questions:
1. The title "Durarara!!" is meant to be onomatopoeia for a motorcycle revving.
2. One of the big themes of the show is that there is no main character, because everyone is the character of their own lives
3. Without giving too much away, Durarara!! is about the city district of Tokyo, Ikebukuro, and how the lives of every character are intertwined. One of the biggest subplots that ties into almost everything is an ever growing gang war with various other interesting mysteries and plots going on behind the scenes. Every character and what they do is connected in some way and part of the fun comes from watching it all unfold. Some people call Durarara the Quentin Tarantino anime and that's actually pretty accurate

except Mikado and Celty are 100% the main characters of the show. He makes them a bit more understated as MCs but they still kinda are.
Opening 2 is literally one of my favorite openings of ALL TIME

to somewhat answer your question of what this anime is about: A Lot.
durarara is set in Ikebukuro, a city...district? (not sure if that's the right word) in Tokyo, and basically, it's one of those series that doesn't follow *one* linear storyline. at the start, you're kind of just getting thrown into this chaos of different things happening all at once, and throughout the series, you slowly get to learn more about all the characters, their various circumstances, dynamics and how all of them are in one way or another connected with each other. there's comedy and drama in various forms, there's gangs, there's supernatural elements, some romance here in there, it's basically a bit of everything!
personally i like that all the openings have this theme of transitioning between the characters, bc there's a lot of 'em and it's just not possible to really pinpoint the plot.
while i can imagine it's not for everyone, drrr is a masterpiece in my opinion. trying to figure out what's going on & getting to meet all those interesting characters and their stories was really fun to me back when i watched it :)

Durarara is peak, i cant even think of any other show making gang wars so interesting, the fandom was so big back in the day they recreated a chatting website the characters used. That damn website was so good, and to get in you had to use the same password as in the show.

This is a really good anime, quite underrated. It’s not very flashy but it’s very effective
The second op was by Rookiez is Punk'd, got a chance to see them in concert twice and they were fantastic. Bought their CD at the show which was the compilation of all the songs they did for anime.

You could say the mc of this show is Mikado, the black haired boy with the green jacket, but the show is more like an interconnecting and weaving tapestry of the stories of all the characters, so you could reasonably argue that the city where it takes place, Ikebukuro, is technically the main character but I digress. Overall, it's a very interesting story with supernatural, action, and drama elements

all i can say to convince you to watch the show is this:
imagine the headless horseman from legends...
riding a bike...
with a shadow scythe...
is the most boring character in the entire show...(not badly written/bad character mind you...the others are just that much more interesting)

You also NEED the freeze frame with the names after a while due to the amount of characters and plot lines going on. Theyll sometimes mention something and you'll have to remember somehow that Character C and Character H knew each other 20 years ago

can you check out songs from the house in fata morgana (visual novel) sound track, their is about 100 so not all of them but i recomend giselle, sanctus, the house in fata morgana, ciao carrina, dammi una sigaretta, delphinas, luciole, tarantula, cicio, hexa morgana(sometimes called morganas curse), bianco de nerro, a serie de fragmento (vocal), the little swallow.
though if that is too much just do sactus gissele, dammi una sigaretta, serie de fragmento, the house in fata morgana and little swallow which are some of my favourites

Basically all the characters in the first opening except 3 of them are the main characters, yes that's over 10 characters, that's why this show is so wack, not to mention how fun and interesting the other side characters are (which there are probably over 30 of them)
