37 years ago this december I was brought to my knees by the news of his death. Now Rufus wrainright`s version is used in the Netherlands in a commercial for Samsung 8 (it sucks). So this made me look up this song from my childhood and found this magnificent tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of our time. This brought me to tears again, realizing he has been gone almost as long as he lived. Chapeau Andrew, you really captured John`s intonations in his voice like I have never heard before. Hope to hear more from you!! (PS. Ofcourse I subscribed)
liekekind thank you very much my friend. I can't even imagine how I would have felt that fateful day. John's songwriting and singing is legendary even to this day.
Its sucks its on the adverts, but RW version is better. John never liked his voice and always wanted it in this tinny, down the phone line effect. Annoys me every time.
John! This song is a great lullaby of the universe John! Whenever I listen to this song, I feel like I am around in a mystical universe to spread infinitely John I miss you From A corner of Tokyo dyed in the atmosphere of beautiful autumn,,,🇯🇵㊗️
This was my childhood song.. I used to sing this to my mom... when I was 4 I was on top of a yellow slide at the playground the winds were high and leaves were blowing over my head I had Daisys on my shirt and i felt as free as a bird...
viking lover i love pink floyd and the beatles, bot for completely different reasons, pink Floyd when you listen to it its like a speechless feeling and you dont want it to stop becouse the music is that good for example wish you were hear is an amazing song because it makes you think about yourself and your life.for the beatles the lyrics make you think and that every thing they say has a deeper meaning kinda like a day in like, that song can make you happy it can make you sad you can make you feel all these different emotions and its crazy that a song can have that kind of impact on you, thats why i love it.
I didn't think I knew that much about John Lennon until I actually listened to and became absorbed in Across the Universe. The song is about who he is, as experienced in deep meditation. He describes what it's like to meditate starting with an open mind and experiencing thoughts, feelings and emotions and on to heavenly realization of Bliss Consciousness. Any soul that can have that experience is blessed.
john Lennon even now he can put words like " nothing is going change my world " in such a way that I can only thank him for being.Hoping that his words will go "across the Universe".R.I.P. JOHN WE LOVE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL.
As someone who is suffering from severe depressipn of losing my only daughter 6 months ago of an accidental overdose... . This song is one that i seem to listen to the most. It helps me .
Andrew Ryan thanks for sharing. John Lennon was a gift to the world. John Lennon and the Beatles changed the world. Their inspiration spans generations and is eternal.
Thank you Theresa. I always appreciate feed back. Im glad you like the cover. John Lennon means a lot to me too. His music got me through some pretty tough times before. I'm forever grateful for his inspiration.
John lennon a true working class hero a talent like the world will never see again although his sons have tried. thank you for this beautiful rendition of this song. John lennon forever

I'm 65 yrs old & I love the Beatles. One thing I will say is I agree with your sentiment on the Samsung add but it did remind me of this fab song & now I've added it to my collection of favorite songs & has brought it back to life in my life.
"Jai" means "O Hail" or "Victory to" "Guru" means "Teacher" "Deva" means "God/Lord/Demi-God" "om" some say is the source of all existence that comes from vibration. Note Guru Dev was a Maharishi's teacher.
Personal life aside, john Lennon left a mark in this world indented like almost no other artist in the history of the world... maybe besides Paul or George, but he was just so madly intelligent. A grace to this world.
I thought I was listening to John Lennon or Beatles. (sorry I'm new to this song but still feels so old, like the connection. Pretty sure I have heard the "Jai Guru Deva" line somewhere before.) Nicely sang. I liked it.
***** You're very welcome... I'm a Beatle fan from day one. There's never been anything like them, nor will there ever be. They changed the WORLD! And they changed my life... What a beautiful song. When we were in Kumbh Mela in India, we interviewed a transcendental meditation expert for our channel. We then recorded this song from a 13 year old girl who sung this song well. Worth putting this song along with images of the Kumbh mela. Its an apt song for someone wanting to reach self-actualisation. Jai Guru Deva! Your voice is of course exceptional!

Couldn't agree with you more. I absolutely adore him and will forever love him.
Anahita Harris I know right. The man was a master of his craft and an inspiration to so many great musicians during his life and even after
I met the Beatles in the Himalayas in my youth.
Jai Guru Dev. It was a wonderful time.
How were they like? That's so cool
They were like most people mostly but they had a special talent to express all things in music. I miss that time in India.
😲 💕
I wonder what does it mean Jaí guru Om?
"Jai" means "O Hail" or "Victory to" "Guru" means "Teacher" "Deva" means "God/Lord/Demi-God" "om" some say is the source of all existence that comes from vibration. Note Guru Dev was a Maharishi's teacher.

this song.is so beautiful
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind
Inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
And calls me on and on across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva...
