    You forgot to mention that outside, one of these reflectors will provide more light than an Aputure 300d on a sunny day, because it's not competing with the sun, like the LED is, it's just reflecting what's already there. How much is a 300d again?
    Outside, these things are hard to beat.

    This is pretty cool, the reflectors are without a doubt incredible tools to light up a scene properly. However I have a question; in every single comparison shot the grassy background seems to be more saturated and lively in the "with the reflector" footage. How does the reflector change the grass' color that's 10 yards behind the subject? Is there any color grading done to the reflector shots? I'm confused. Great video otherwise!

    • @itsDKRG
      @itsDKRG 3 года назад +2

      @@fulltimefilmmaker so the comparison shots shown when explaining the difference the reflector makes are all color graded? The script makes it seem like the difference between all those shot vs shot comparison scenes are only due to the reflector being present or not. I don't know, kind of deceiving as I initially was very impressed at that reflector. Slightly deceiving even if it's not intentional. Thanks for the reply!

    • @itsDKRG
      @itsDKRG 3 года назад

      @@fulltimefilmmaker i completely understand and agree with everything you are saying. All I'm trying to get across is that it could be less deceiving and a better comparison if there were no color correcting and color grading done to the comparison shots (not the commercial) to better allow the viewer to see what reflector adds the to mix. Obviously the footage is going get worked on in post production for client use, but keeping the footage raw and unedited might be better so we could see the reflector and what it does in effect without any alteration to high and low values of the footage. That's it. Not trying to pull anyone's strings. Thanks!

    • @shqipdonsalijaj
      @shqipdonsalijaj 3 года назад

      @@itsDKRG If they wouldn't color grade the footages then you wouldn't notice for example the gold reflector effect because it would be all shot in flat color profile and that wouldn't give any useful information.They did better color grading the footages because you see the differences easier.

      What you've probably seen done with the reflector placed under the subject is the photographer filling the shadows under the chin. They'll position it so that those shadows get filled without casting light onto the rest of the subject's face, which would create that "ghoul" look. General rule of them with bounce though: Bigger is better AND bounce from above the eyeline. You'll get a much more natural look. A 4x4 or something smaller is usually going to look too sourcey. That's why they role in 8x8s or 12x12s on bigger budget shoots. The bounce is usually placed above the subject's eyeline and pointing down.
