Hand forged, options available: right, left, center grind. Various handle finishes and leather options!
This is the one axe I would want if I could have any axe. Watch for why…
I really love being able to be part of this, it’s just as exciting to see it in the hands of a master bushcrafter as it is to make them! The leatherwork by Old Country Leather is the best I’ve seen! True artisans who are dedicated to quality!! Thank you for believing in us Jordan and thank you to all who support us!
Will there be a way to just order the axe head?
When your cat decides to spend some time with you and share some love. Awesome looking Axe!
😂 thanks!
Kitty video-bombing you is hilarious. 😂
😆
This axe is incredible!!! Cant wait to get my hands on one!!!
🙌
Great looking design Jordan, And awesome that you have the slide on style head! So practical, but hard to find.
Thanks for the information. I love learning how other cultures use their axes. Great methods for splitting when you don't have a chopping block.
Thanks Nathan! Yeah I like that slip on style a lot!
He even left space for a GOAT next to that moose badge. Now I have to buy one.
Beautiful axe and mask very well put together! I especially like the pull string feature in the mask that’s brilliant.
Thank you we thought about all the little details ;)
I just ordered one. Thanks Jordan.
Amazing Shawn - I hope you really enjoy it! It’s guaranteed effective against both wolverines and mice 😆
Very useful tips, thanks GOAT love the design
I’m ordering one ! Been waiting for this to happen for a few years ! Best designed true forest axe there is . Great job Jordan !
Amazing man!! 🙌 hope you really like it!
this axe looks like it will never let you down if you take care of it . always the best man and greetings from Greece!
Hello to Greece!!! 👍
Great looking axe, Jordan! The forge finish on the head with that dark & burnt look of the handle is perfection dude...congrats on finding awesome partners on the build & making a life-saving, task-destroying heirloom piece!!💪😎👍
Thanks man!! 🤝
Ingenious!!! Bringing this style to North America.. I’ve done a lot of research and I’m pretty sure you were one of the first to ever do this.. I see a lot of money to be made Jonas.. Good luck.. I’m sure I’ll pick one up
Thanks man!! That’s why I felt I needed to, such an excellent design but unavailable here!
Thank you for demonstrating
Love your sound effects....
Involuntary 😆
Bro, Idk why but I bout died laughing when you tossed the cat 😂
😂😂😂. Maybe should of edited that out haba
@@hobojordo na I like it. Makes me think yall got some history of him always being in your business 😂
That is an awesome axe. Great tips too!
Thanks! 🙌
Really sweet axe.
So sick!
Sir, I am extremely excited about this. For what you've created I think the price is fair but I'll have to save up for a little before jumping on it. About 2 years ago I grabbed a CRKT axe (because I hate the normal handle attachment that requires wedges), scraped the clear coat off of it, oiled it, and shaped the handle a little bit. Basically a mini, budget version of yours 😂.
I hope life is nothing short of amazing for you and your's.
Thanks Billy!! Hope the same for you!
It looks cool. I never thought or heard about sharping an axe like a chisel. That sounds clever. I have 2 at home but they are no Jordan Taiga Axe 😂😂😂so I have to get one of those. Thanks for the video.

Great axe
🤝
❤JJ! Survival beast
The date on axe head was a great idea. Can't wait to order. Just a small suggestion, you may to put hyperlink in video description. While ridiculous, some people may not copy and paste website. Either way great stuff
Oh yeah I better figure that out! Thanks!
No problemo dude
I would love to see a video maybe on the topic of smoking meat and maybe backcountry smoking. The Axe reminds me of the one my Grandfather had.
Привет Джордан, спасибо за видео - привет семье
I love it, absolutely want one but i cant justify spending over $536 USD on an axe with conversion to CAD.
Maybe one day.
Torn on this. I'm a lefty in most things, like writing, carving, etc, but then chopping, playing hockey, swinging a bat I'm a righty. Actually, writing that out helped my decision, since I'd be switching hands for fine tasks vs gross it doesn't make sense to get this. Darn, I'd still like one but c'est la vie.
We do offer a center grind specifically for ambidextrous and/or skeptical folks! ;) it’s in the drop down menu when you go to order
The blade is more for carpentry, and not for the taiga. The taiga ax has a thicker blade, which can be used to split logs into logs. When chopping, your ax will get stuck and will not eject the wood chips. I speak as a Russian person who has been working with an ax all his life). The weight of the taiga ax iron should be about 600 - 900 grams. The butt of the ax must not be hardened, otherwise the eye may burst in the cold in winter. An important criterion for the Russian ax is the beard in the eye, which provides additional protection against chipping of the ax handle.
In order to chop (split) wood effectively with a thin-butted axe you hold it at a slight angle - this prevents the axe from sticking and also splits effectively. It has the added value of keeping the axe from driving through the log and into the ground if it splits easily. It also allows for the thin bit in other situations which makes for deeper chops and better bushcraft carpentry.
If you’d like to hear from a reindeer herder more on the nuances of the Evenki mods to the standard Russian axe, here you go:

This isn’t simply just a Russian axe. It has incorporated Evenki mods (taper lock, single bevel) and my own personal tweaks.
Here is a video on how to split with a thinner blade: instagram.com/p/CJlpZKYF01_/?igshid=MTIzZWMxMTBkOA==
Do you prefer this style of leather sheath to the wooden evenki one? How do they compare?
Does the axe head ring like a bell? My Russian axe rings nicely.
Hi Jordan, I am very happy with my Taiga Axe. I find the one sided sharpening is much easier than trying to maintain an angle. I have been using my axe for 3 months, and now the head is slightly wobbly. I am curious to know how you tighten the head on the taiga axe? I know a lot of guides say to drive metal wedges in, or stuff the sides with wooden wedges, or to soak the head with the handle still on it in linseed oil to make it tight again, what is your preferred method of tightening this style axe?
Yeah just dip the handle in linseed oil and let it soak it up and expand… it’ll tighten up. In Siberia we would dip it in a puddle occasionally overnight to cinch it up, but water evaporates out whereas the oil will hold longer
Nice work Jordan! I would have found a copy of your original axe a bit nicer but this one seems to be great
Thank you! This one performs better and some of the tweaks I made I believe are practical improvements (a little more handle contact around the poll, weight distribution, etc)
@@hobojordo I noticed that there’s no metal at the end of the handle and also the profile of the handle isn’t squared. Isn’t that something unique to Siberian axes?
@@max_fjellstorm the profile of the handle is quite oblong, in line with the large eye, giving good grip that won’t twist, but they aren’t necessarily “square” .. In cross-section it has a flattened oval shape with a thinner front edge and rounded back edge.
So its a hewing axe?
You don't ship to Australia?
We can ship pretty much anywhere.. if you have an issue checking out write brad (broadriverforge@gmail.com) and he will make sure you get it
Make a hatchet version and I’ll buy two
👍. Prototyping a pack version
@@hobojordo oh lord I’m gonna have to put my money where my mouth is lol
@@tristansimmons510 😆
Most Indian axes are friction fit like this.
