It's more than a few hundred now, but still endangered. I remember this species mentioned explicitly in our state school books in the 80s and state govts running programs to protect it. Didn't realise it's to the extent of people on the roads monitoring their safety too which is great.

That is the day the culture celebrates these festival as per the region: Pongal, MakarShankranti, Behu etc etc. Ancient temples have special structure built into the temple where the Sun light on MakarShankranti falls on the gem on the Deiti's forehead. This phenomenon is called "Makara-Jyoti".
The traffic looks quite civilized when waiting for priority passenger. Some people think a virtual signalling system could be used that would mimic physical systems. I remember the video, but somehow vanished. They even talked about using vehicles to physically carry messages where there are no cloud communications to opposing traffic regarding emergency, weather or road conditions.
Please Don't forget to visit North East India the most beautiful places lies in it and mostly untouched by foreigners as they travel mostly in the North and South India but forget the North East . Your India trip is incomplete without visiting it . I hope so you will visit it.

Moin, moin, hey you two when parking your bikes on a gradient, reverse off the road at 90° and leave in 1st gear to stop it rolling back further (with the engine off of course) . This means that when you set off again you just need to ride off in the direction you want to go without the pain of having to push the bike backwards up the gradient onto the road (especially when hot) Ride Safe 🤗
Have to say, as an experienced rider, I am really enjoying watching the riding dynamic between you two, with Lavi being a brand new rider and Ollie as the veteran. Lavi is doing absolutely amazing for a new rider, there sure are a lot of very dynamic experiences for a new rider. She is handling them like a boss! Ollie is fun too, with his steady presence, riding as the ‘tail gunner’ and keeping a watchful eye, riding the pace she needs, blocking danger from the rear, taking over the mike as required for rest or as concentration dictates. Super fun adventure too. Enjoying your content, refreshing (to me) as a riding pair enjoying adventures together. As a married guy, I also get a chuckle over previous brekkie scenes. Husbands always lose a bit of pancake to “quality assurance”, it’s just the way it is. LOL
I was a bit puzzled in the beginning but now got it. The beautiful couple have plans to ride the highest motorable road in the world in Laddakh which is not possible before the month of May. They have plenty of time to cover the distance and we are here for a long treat and I am enjoying every bit of it.

25:25 The stripped down trees are silver oaks. Tea is primarily an undergrowth bush so direct sun light all day is not as good for it. The silver oak branches are managed in such a way that they provide shade to the tea shrubs as necessary for the season.

You should have visited the Athirappilly water falls situated 60kms away from Valpparai. Its one of the biggest waterfalls in India and a sight to behold... Further Eravikkukam National Park conserves 'Nilgiri Tahrs', a highly endangered species of mountain goat found only in this part of the world. You were mentioning about tiger pangoline, leopard, etc. but the monkey that you saw en route to Valparai is (my guess, need more confirmation though) Lion-tailed macaque. This species is endemic to the area (Kerala, TN, and Karnataka) and critically endangered, with approx. 4200 left in the world. You were so lucky to spot them. Their interaction with humans is a new phenomenon too . Although unusual, it is becoming commonplace and has a detrimental effect on their population. Hope the species is resilient and survives and really really hope humans wont push them to extinction! But yeah, on a random road trip, although you were searching for something majestic to the human eye, you might have found a hidden gem!
8:45 guys please be careful while crossing streams where waterfalls close..cauz flash floods can appear in no time & u may panic & lose the way or grip getting back. So i won't recommend it.😊
I love the way you explained the names of each place and research of each places you done before visiting❤. If you people love to ride in hairpin bends, i would suggest the place called "Kolli Hills" near to Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. Just check the pictures before you travel, since it is around 70 bends.
Try valparai to athrapalli to wayanaad route. It will feel like heaven. But careful because no google map available in athirapaly route. Also if you look into google map you will see no inhabitants in athriapali. It is 80 to 90% almost green ( forest). Only offline google map download is available for athriapali.
As u are in 🇮🇳 and luckily Currently mahakumbh is going on in prayagraj , uttar pradesh that happens once in 12 years So I think if you can than must vist. It last till feb 26
As a hill rider, lane discipline keeps you alive in Indian mountains. While taking a blind curve try to be on edge as much as possible because a big vehicle like bus or truck may be coming from the opposite side and they need space to turn. They may take half of your lane as well

It is true only in the case of sweet pongal. Mostly, they have pongal in the beginning of the meal. Other sweets are served at the end of the meal.
In kerala and Tamilnadu, you both start and end with sweets. Major sweets are towards the end of
It's considered auspicious to have sweet first... The first thing on the okat is salt followed by pickle and then sweet. You eat the sweet first.
It's always scenic around that part of the woods.

You guys should skip middle karnataka which is hot and dry and follow along Karnataka;s western ghat belt through coorg,hassan,chikamagalur,Shimoga,Uttara kannada and then Goa

You were mentioning about tiger pangoline, leopard, etc. but the monkey that you saw en route to Valparai is (my guess, need more confirmation though) Lion-tailed macaque. This species is endemic to the area (Kerala, TN, and Karnataka) and critically endangered, with approx. 4200 left in the world. You were so lucky to spot them. Their interaction with humans is a new phenomenon too . Although unusual, it is becoming commonplace and has a detrimental effect on their population. Hope the species is resilient and survives and really really hope humans wont push them to extinction!
But yeah, on a random road trip, although you were searching for something majestic to the human eye, you might have found a hidden gem!

I love the way you explained the names of each place and research of each places you done before visiting❤. If you people love to ride in hairpin bends, i would suggest the place called "Kolli Hills" near to Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. Just check the pictures before you travel, since it is around 70 bends.

Try valparai to athrapalli to wayanaad route. It will feel like heaven. But careful because no google map available in athirapaly route. Also if you look into google map you will see no inhabitants in athriapali. It is 80 to 90% almost green ( forest). Only offline google map download is available for athriapali.

As a hill rider, lane discipline keeps you alive in Indian mountains. While taking a blind curve try to be on edge as much as possible because a big vehicle like bus or truck may be coming from the opposite side and they need space to turn. They may take half of your lane as well

Unfortunately the green bike is a bit higher than the white bike and I couldn’t get my feet on the ground 😭
Seeing all these amazing landscapes makes me wanna go on a bike trip like this on my vitpilen 250 but my family won’t allow it also it’s too far😅
