I wouldn't mind if my friend dated my ex, but only after we've both moved on so it's not painful/awkward seeing them together. If he was toxic, I'd expect my best friend to know better.
What Cassie did was awful because she knew that Maddie still cared about Nate, and most of all, he was abusive.
The thing is she left as soon as she knew they were going to go back together. She just didn't have the courage to be honest with her best friend. Which is understandable.
I also don't like the "Nate was abusive" like of it was Cassie's fault. Like Nate is abusive obviously. But Cassie also as the biggest case of Daddy issues I have never seen. Super easy to pry on.
cassie acting like she was victim when she literally f'ed Nate as soon as him and maddy broke up 🤨 plus he was abusive towards maddy, and arguably manipulative towards cassie.

Honestly, every person that gets in abusive situations thinks it’ll be different with them. I know people hate Nate but he isn’t bad ALL the time. And it’s those times where he isn’t a bad person that the girls fall for him.
I honestly think only the audience sees the full range of his abuse.

With the way Cassie was acting, I'm assuming everyone has been pretty fed up trying to explain to her the obvious reasons as to why she is wrong. The girl lacks accountability and even watching these scenes had me agitated. The mother is just explaining to her the principle of why everyone is mad at her, because how could you be THAT dense?
After a while it gets annoying having to deal with people like this and she's basically stuck with her because that's her daughter.
And Maddy is like another daughter to her, she lived over at their house for a few months

It’s a pretty simple rule/principle, universal.
People should take it more seriously when they break up. If you are broken up, you are done. Then everyone is free to move on to whomever they are attracted to and respect. If that happens to be a person you got to know through your friend, then so be it. I've been dumped and yet excited my ex found someone more his speed. It's called maturity.
yeah honestly, if they broke up then they should be done otherwise what's the point in breaking up? and if my friend thought she might have chemistry with one of my exes i wouldn't have a problem with it. things didn't work out for me and him, but maybe it'll work out for them and I'm not gonna stand in the way of them potentially being happy together.
i think the real issue in this situation is the fact that nate abused maddy and by getting with him cassie kinda took the side of her best friend's abuser

I understand why everyone is mad Cassie for being with Nate, but it's not like she was doing it to be mean at Maddie. Nate saw Cassie on ground sad and he took advantage of it. This witch hunt for Cassie should be directed at Nate. He manipulates girls to his liking and does not care about the relationships he destroys in the process. Both Cassie and Maddie should have come together to take Nate down. Cassie has only gets validation about her coupled with the fact that her dad abandoned her. So any male attention she gets she precises it as love.

It was messed up what Cassie did to Maddy, but in this situation that doesn’t matter. That is a child in distress, and a mom who essentially said she doesn’t care, and that was pretty f-ed up on her part.
Like please, hold your children accountable, help them become better people, but for gods sake be in their corner!!! You don’t have to agree with their decision, to reassure them that you care about them no matter how they mess up (especially when you have a daughter, like Cassie, who got herself in this mess in the first place because she was SEEKING OUT that unconditional love in the wrong places).

@paigeelizabeth9729 she never said that though. She said you could still love and provide comfort and support without agreeing or making excuses for certain behaviors. That's what parenting IS. Besides it's not like Cassie is this way for no reason. This is the result of her father's and mother's parenting and relationship. She isn't a Saint but she isn't some demon either. It's obvious that Cassie's self respect is so low that she would sacrifice her sensibilities (which was already shown in S1,) but was most likely amploford due to her vulnerable state. Just remeber to keep these situations in mind before jumping to conclusions (this could be quite useful for real life situations.)
