Intro 0:10 | Overview & Giveaway 1:10 | Corrections 2:10 | Part #5 6:08 Hello Rollers! Be sure to break out the popcorn because this is much longer than normal! Hope you enjoy the journey further into Avalon and let me know your thoughts on what to do next and any feedback. Corrections: After double checking the rules for 0 food and the reference card I want to clarify that sequence in the next episode. It may not be as dire as I imagined when you run out of food. It is similar to being exhausted. So I made it quite a bit harder on myself. Still bad but it doesn’t completely zap all my energy. I missed counting the Old Steel Smasher as +2 during a purple encounter. When the risky attack hit me the card states it does the damage on the 'next attack'. Meaning I shouldn't have taken two damage for that hit as I killed the enemy before the next attack. So I'll be gaining back two health and also restoring one energy for the next one. Woohoo! Cheers!
Hey mate, risky attack at the end of the video only does 2 damage on the next attack. Not instant damage to you. So by killing the elk you avoid damage
Didn't see anyone else commenting on it, but defeating the Wyrd Child gave you -1 terror, not 1 terror, so you should have been 2 lower... Meaning you wouldn't have had any worries with the apparition, not that it mattered! And why did you not give the vagabond a wealth, you had a few... I looked in the rulebook, and if you can't eat, you do drop to 0 stamina and become exhausted (so you might as well be exhausted anyway), but the restoring stamina happens afterwards, so you should go back up to 4, or 5 in your case... Meaning you wouldn't have ended up exhausted again. Against the Royal Elk, you shouldn't have taken damage after passing because you didn't have a sequence to add 2 to, and shouldn't have taken damage from the risky attack, since there was no attack to take extra damage from, so that should be two more health. Still enjoying the game though! And I would suggest going with the Brilliant Strategist, because it will make chaining SO much easier, and unlock all your diplomacy cards, if you ever have to use them again...
RIchard! This was caught earlier on. Still a good catch and worth mentioning! I also updated the pinned comment in regards to food. I'll be mentioning this at the start of the next one! :) Thanks for the suggestions on which ability to go for and I'll see you in the next one!
I’m posting as I see it. If you corrected it, that’s good. You didn’t gain the extra health from Excalibur’s scabbard. So you would have one extra energy as well. Edit: After finishing the video, you did miss one heal with the scabbard. The first night you had it actually. Also about the food, or lack there of at the end. I’m not sure if you did it correctly. I believe it would resolve like this. 1. You have no food. Energy drops to 0 (unless already 0, then you lose a health) 2. Then you replenish your energy, but because you were at 0 you are counted as exhausted and it goes to only 4 If it didn’t work like this, then not having food would essentially be death. You wouldn’t be able to do anything. Now, I assume you can only be affected by festering wounds once because otherwise being hungry would also make you exhausted and you would take 2.
Hey MS! Thanks for the feedback. In that moment I followed the reference card but didn’t realize the wording basically meant to take a penalty to energy similar to being exhausted. So this is something I will talk about at the start of the next one. I made it much harder in myself which I guess is better than making it easier haha. I’ll mention this in the pinned comment as well. Good eye!
Hey man, just want to say "thank you" for your videos to that KS. As a "newbie" in the whole topic I blindly backed that project on day one. The art, the setting really got my attention. But something bugged me and I never could say exactly what it is/was. After spending lots of hours watching your videos, finally I realized that the combat mechanics seem ... unfamiliar to me. Maybe (well ... I guess that will be the case) this is a huge mistake by myself, but after watching the combats over and over again I decided to unback (is that a real word?) the project. That said, doesn't mean that this game or gameplay mechanic is something I would decline or critize at all, but your videos helped me to understand that I need to play some sort of games first on my own before spending hundreds of dollars into a KS project. Thanks and keep on posting. They truley help (maybe not Awaken Realms in my personal case, but I guess they don't bother too much)
Hey Sandro! Great to hear the videos helped you either way. The only purpose on my end is to show you the game in action and help you decide if it’s the right fit by what you see. If it helped you make an informed decision then that’s all the counts on my end. Thanks for your support. Cheers!
Solo, awesome playthrough video as ususal, was on the edge of my seat. And yes, I admit I was one of the people screaming at you when you forgot about Excalibur during TWO consecutive nights!!!! 😁 - all of the errors I saw were caught so I'll go right to which practicality you should choose: I would strongly advise the one that makes All double keys single keys. I can't count the number of times that lack of a double key slot has crippled your sequence. As for food, I would probably spend an extra day and hunt another green encounter then head back in the direction of Camelot. Again, great video, can't wait for the next one!!!
Hey Matthew! Thanks for watching. The finale is up now. Hope you enjoy it! It’s a short one though. Caught me by surprise! I even ended up going with the one your suggested. Have a good one!
From the last risky attack you don't take damage for the flip because it is plus 2 for the next enemy attack, and the elk never attacked because it died. I could be interpreting something incorrectly or possibly you corrected it and I missed it. 1:57:25 Also I vote for the brilliant strategist ability because it will help immensely in diplomacy because you lack any way of connecting to double keys. This effectively gives you no need to put any more experience into the right side of your board unless you plan on getting upgrades/abilities for them. This saves you 14 experience or something if you were to put a 2nd on all your right stats right now. Too add, this ability gives you A LOT of flexibility and ease lining up your cards during either Combat/Diplomacy. In light of food problems it would seem it could be solved by simply doing green encounters every so often. They seem to give you food most of the time from what I have seen in your playthrough thus far, but I could be mistaken. Hopefully I did not interpret the ability wrong, but I went back and paused to read it a couple of times and it would seem a little bit overpowered in terms of shear value if how I read it was true. :P Anyways great video again!
Ah yes! Good eye on the risky attack. It wouldn’t have hit me! Being that it happened near the end of the playthrough I should be able to correct that. Thanks for the feedback on the abilities as well! :)
@@RollingSolo Since you didn't take that wound that also means you will be able to take advantage of your Inexhaustible Stamina ability and be at 5 energy.

Really tough choice for the ability cards. Brilliant Strategist seems barely the best as you can use any double key combat as a single key. Gonna be fighting tough baddies and will need the combat prowess and flexibility. I can see the thought process for the food card too. Good run through! That was an epic elk fight - hah!
In Whitening there is a blue encounter card I think. 1:51:15 of gameplay. The icon under the willage one? But most of mistakes were dealt with. I have pledged on KS already, but your amazing gameplay is making the wait somewhat more bearable. Thx mate :)
Yes! You're right about that blue encounter miss. As I'm not able to go back and correct it as I've passed that point I let it go. It was a miss on my part. Good eye. Cheers!
when fighting the deadcrawler you could have started your sequence with hex and then still connect all the other cards, but you would have saved one magic that way :)
You do ignore it the risky attack because of the hold guard. You shouldn’t have played careful attack in the chain where it was. Could have kept it and the value would have been 8. This does 2 wounds (-1 because of armor), and would have countered feint (which is uncounterable and gives it +2). This would have put you at 12 starting the next round. Also you can’t mulligan after first round of combat. Says so in the rules that it is only at the “start of combat”
I saw someone else address The Fallacy of the Self-Swinging Smasher. I concur with that view; just having a weapon but not engaging in combat (i.e., not playing any action cards) shouldn't cause an item to contribute to the combat total unless it specifically says somewhere on that specific card that it does. (Perhaps a sentient weapon with aggression issues)
I completely agree! I did express my thoughts on someone' else's post which lines up with your thoughts. I'm on board with this line of thinking thematically.
@ 1:51:10, yeah the Blue encounter... Also you cannot enter Tanglewood from Titan's steps because there is not an arrow pointing to that location, or am I wrong? Anyway, great playthrough, I'm excited for a new episode. As of my vote, I'd go with Brilliant Strategist, as it provides the most versatility in the long run, especially for the diplomacy. You can farm the Tangleroot food for at least the next two turns.
I was planning to wait until the final hour to back this game, but thanks to you I couldn't wait! Now I have to wait to receive it in the mail .... which is going to be painful. :)
During the encounter at 1:44:00, since you're defend got countered twice shouldn't you have taken at least 1 damage both times? I'm confused how the counter is supposed to work and when it activates.
After you add up your sequence value to see if you defeated the enemy you then move to the Enemy AI portion and follow the AI chart based on the value. Countering then happens and in this case removes the defend card. Hope this helps!
At 1:55:00 when you pass your turn with nothing in your sequence, should you still count your weapon as an attack if you do nothing? Thematically if you are sneaking up on this Elk and deciding not to attack it yet, it seems weird that just because you're holding a weapon you have to use it. If that's the case you don't take 2 wounds there. Another question, when you move to Whiting do you have to pull a blue encounter? Or is that only when you explore there and not when you're just passing through? I personally would take the bonus to food ability. You're going to need food to light the next menhir. Plus that was pretty dire when you ran out, especially with the festering wound disability. Seems like it could add up fast over time and really open up your options going forward and stop some bad things from happening.
Hey Brandon! Thanks for the feedback and questions. For the first, this is something I wondered as well. Afterwards I also thought about this and agree that thematically it wouldn’t make sense. Something the final rules will clarify I hope. Yep! Good catch. A blue encounter should have been pulled here.
@@RollingSolo I forgot to mention how much I'm enjoying the playthrough. This is one of the best I have seen and I can't wait for the next installment. Thanks for what you do!

Thx for the video and the effort. You did an amazing job! Did you consider making a playthrough for kingdom death monster? I would really like to see more from you
Great series. The ending was a little anticlimactic as I was expecting a showdown with the Fore-Dweller, but this prototype felt longer than the one from The 7th Continent and it certainly did its job. btw, what is the title of the song you used for the opening? I did not find a mention in the description. Tomorrow I will start the Too Many Bones series. :)
Hey! Ya, I wish the prototype would have gone further than it did but that’s part of the hook I guess haha Enjoy the Bones series, it’s been a lot of fun so far!
Cause it's coming to the end of the play through I'd double my practicality endings. Normally I'd say expert forager though. What are the chances of an Ailei or Maggot playthrough after this?
Hello Dean! I have quite a few other plans in the pipe so I may revisit the game when it’s final but I think I’ve covered it for the prototype. Thanks for watching! Good to know there is interest for more.
When attacking the Dreadcrawler you could have saved a magic. You went Feint Intimidate Hex defend using 2 magic. You could have gone Hex Feint Intimidate Defend using only 1 magic.
Really nice playthrough, thanks a lot!! I'm curious: at every encounter you choose which items/equips to bring - is there any reason to not always bring them all?
Yes! Some enemies like one I faced in this video would have destroyed my hammer if I choose to bring it into the fight and defeat it. So I choose not to bring it into the fight.:)
I say take the ability card that lets you use the double icon cards as singles instead. I cringed when you took the damage from attack card against the elk that you werent supposed to take.
The Wyrdchild gives 3 terror if you deal 5 or more damage to it as i see it, you only took 1 terror from it. It then gives 1 back when it is defeated, which makes for an interesting question... Will you have to draw an "you are insane" for going to 5 then get the -1 afterwards, taking you to 4 terror. Or will it add up right away meaning that you only get 2 terror instead of 3? Edit: I just checked your other encounter with the mob that has them run away on a 12+. I think its just bad wording on the cards, since the cards shouldnt say "+", it makes it a bit confusing.
Replay ability concerns me with this game. It seems very similar to 7th Continent and the map is the same every time which make me wonder why it wasn't just a game board instead of cards if the maps the same every time. I know the cards are double sided but this could've been done with a board and numbered cards for the locations. I do like the combat system.
Hey WP! There are some great updates on the KS page about replayability. In addition to the alternate characters and their story paths, you won’t be able to cover all narrative options in one play through. It will take multiple plays from what I’ve experienced. The combat system is unique and that’s a plus.Hope the videos help you either way. Cheers!
I think he’s right. That would have made a difference against the weird child because you were resolving some of the child’s attacks on 3 instead of 4 a few times. Level 3 was giving you dmg and fear but 4 was counter all. So that changes that fight quite a bit I think. Whatever tho - I say press on without revising.
Good catch. Slip up on my part there. I could have held off to avoid that value 4. I agree, I’ll continue on without revising this. I’ll mention it in the pinned comment as an FYI. Thanks guys!
I know I am late to the party, but I love this playthrough - it is smooth, well narrated and the camera angles are good (the amount of mistakes is much less than average and you correct them). I don't know if it has been mentioned, but 'do not go to camelot tis a silly place' in hermit caves comes from Monthy Python & the Holly Grail ;) ruclips.net/video/SQCArh_R9dY/видео.html

Hey! Ya, I wish the prototype would have gone further than it did but that’s part of the hook I guess haha
Enjoy the Bones series, it’s been a lot of fun so far!
I'm in favor of taking brilliant strategist. Seems to open up the most options, and really widens your abilities for diplomacy.
Hey Diane! Seems to be the popular choice so far. Thanks for taking the time to let me know and watch. Cheers!
When attacking the Dreadcrawler you could have saved a magic. You went Feint Intimidate Hex defend using 2 magic. You could have gone Hex Feint Intimidate Defend using only 1 magic.
Hey Steve, good thoughts here. I like hearing the alternate strategies. Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for watching Paulo!
Ah Nice! I just finished watching, it makes so much sense! I love the idea of keeping the food card, a good peace of mind to take more risks ahead.
Thanks for the suggestion Paulo!
I say take the ability card that lets you use the double icon cards as singles instead. I cringed when you took the damage from attack card against the elk that you werent supposed to take.
Pedro! Sounds good. Thanks for that feedback. I noted the damage mistake in the pinned comment. It’ll be corrected for the next one. :)
Ya, there are some adjustments needed to wording on the cards to be crystal clear in the final product. :)
Don't know if it is mentioned but the hammer gives 2 in purple encounter
Hey Coen! Thanks for the feedback. I mentioned that in the pinned comment but good catch :)
Great video again! I noticed that you went through whitening on your way to fight the elk without triggering a blue encounter, is that right?
Also like others have said the strategist ability sounds strong, especially given the less punishing no food rules other viewers are talking about :)
Hey hey! I should have pulled a blue encounter there. Good catch! Thanks for the feedback on the ability as well.
@@RollingSolo No problem! Looking forward to the next one 😊
Me too! Christmas might throw a wrench in but I'll see what I can do about getting a video to finish it off for this coming weekend. We'll see ;)
Love the serie!!. I vote for Expert Foragger
Awesome, thanks for the vote Jamie!
Get the food card. No food was a serious problem.
Appreciate the feedback for the ability card Nick!
Cheers!
Rolling Solo thx I'll check out the Kickstarter page again.
Old steel smasher is +2 against purple
Hey Jochem. Sure is! Did I miss that? If so, when?
I think he’s right. That would have made a difference against the weird child because you were resolving some of the child’s attacks on 3 instead of 4 a few times. Level 3 was giving you dmg and fear but 4 was counter all. So that changes that fight quite a bit I think. Whatever tho - I say press on without revising.
Good catch. Slip up on my part there. I could have held off to avoid that value 4. I agree, I’ll continue on without revising this. I’ll mention it in the pinned comment as an FYI. Thanks guys!
@@RollingSolo 54mins against the wyrdchild
I know I am late to the party, but I love this playthrough - it is smooth, well narrated and the camera angles are good (the amount of mistakes is much less than average and you correct them).
I don't know if it has been mentioned, but 'do not go to camelot tis a silly place' in hermit caves comes from Monthy Python & the Holly Grail ;)

Wow, that means a lot. Thanks so much for the support my friend. All the best!
Brilliant Strategist
Thanks for the feedback Marduk!
Critical strikes!
;D
Seems the boring choice, but food might be the way to go...
I realized very quickly how much food is important for keeping myself from deaths door. Especially with Festering Wounds! :O
Thanks for the feedback Dave!
