At some point i had lost hope about learning anything of Statistics...But there are some great people like you who are helping the one in need. Allah bless you with better health and long life.
@josetogan Who told you there is a conflict between science and God ? many scientist believe in God ! Stop believing in superstitions and rule your mind is my tip.
@moataz Siraj, more than this guy's questioning God, I'm questioning his sanity and maturity. Must be having the time of his life to be able to come out of a hole for this discussion as the reason of his sad and pathetic existence is to try and push his believes on people (on random videos). On the plus side, the video is spot on and hopefully he has learnt a thing or two here. Regarding his theory, he will live to figure out what he calls "superstitions" when the time comes. I've seen many turn around :)
Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Maybe you should send your professor a link to this video and the playlist on regression :). Make sure you tell your fellow students and like us on facebook (see link in the description of the video). Good luck in your class and let me know if you need/want other videos. I am always looking for ideas. David
Wow! Thank you so much for such a wonderful compliment. I was going to call my company, "MyProfessorSucks" but went with "MyBookSucks" instead. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
Respected sir, I have started my course in Big Data and Business Analytics and have these concepts of least square and R squared. The way in which you explain the concepts along with the awesome animations... I consider myself very lucky to have stumbled upon your channel!! You are simply FANTASTIC!!! Probably the best videos on such important topics where they seem so simple... Thank you so much for such wonderful explanations sir :)
You are awesome!!!!!!! You have taught me more in 4 videos than what my prof has tried to teach me in 6 classes. My prof is so dry and has no clue of how to teach. He just rants and mumbles AND is all over the place that it's hard to follow him. Thank you so much for putting up your videos and helping me out!! At least now I stand a chance of passing this course.
Someone once said that if you couldn’t reduce it to the freshman level. That means you don’t understand it. Mr. Statistician, you possessed a rare ability to understand and explain it so that even a six-year-old can understand it. Thank you for helping me learn statistics!
Aravin Prince Periyasamy Make sure you share the love, If you get a chance make sure you like and share the videos, it will make it easy for others to find them.
I gotta say I love what are you doing. All these videos out there got my head messed up. I finally got it. Thank you thank you thank you! More people like you are certainly needed.
advantage that we(student) gain watching your vids is clear explanation aided by your clear voice + graphical representation of concepts... hats off sir..its a pleasure to learn more
Hamidkhan said the best words to express this.... everyone can teach,.......but only a few like you u can teach things so simply. Thank you very much God bless you
Hi, I was confused in my Lectures here at university of Sydney and in about 3 videos I've watched so far, I understood regression. You are very clear and videos are super simple
the best regression analysis and R Squared tutorials I have seen You defiantly give Khan Academy a run for his money with this. Keep up the good works and thanks :)
There are simply not enough superlatives to describe this series of videos, your understanding of how to explain statistics to young adults is without rival. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
I have watched many videos of Statistics but you are the best. I like the graphics which helps me to understand statistics a lot better than what my teacher in school tried to teach. Keep making such tutorial.
Sir, i don't feel like moving away from my system. I bow you for your excellent teaching capacity ... God bless u .. I wish I can met you at least once, in my life time
This is such a useful video. I knew that the closer R^2 is to 1, the more accurate the forecast is, (Told by the instructor), but it was never explained clearly like the video.. Thank you!!!!!!!!
I was always amazed by statistics and probability, but when I took the course at the University the book had many errors and the instructor wasn't eager to teach. I'm thinking to do myself a favor get this out of my system. Good video.
Very nice video series - very clear, not too fast, and not too complex. Your method of presentation helps to connect a lucid conception of what one is trying to accomplish with the step-by-step procedure for doing it.
Well, thank you very much for the compliment. btw, love the avatar. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
This is just genius explanation of how to find r squared because I had so much trouble to understanding the whole idea of regressions nor just finding r squared
I'm learning statistics after so long and i always disliked it in school because I never understood it but now I'm learning data science so I need to know and I have to let you know because of you I started liking it as finally after so many years I found someone who can simplify it. Thank you
What a wonderful compliment! Happy to be your statistics god! Hopefully my videos will help you pass your final -- good luck. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on Facebook (see link in video description). This will help other students find the videos, so they don't "freak" out on their finals!
Thanks for the feedback. It means a lot to me. The South Pacific always sounds like a beautiful place to me. Make sure you take a study break/fun/humor and visit MyBookSucks on Facebook (you can see the link in the video description). Thanks again, good luck in your classes and enjoy the beauty of the South Pacific (great movie too).
WOW!! Very nice video. I had gone thru many videos or better explanation for regresion analysis. But, atlast I found this video, with better calrity and the explanation and presentation is superb, which even a layman can understand. Thank you very much.
Thank you for you compliments. The standard error of the estimate is different than R squared. In the video description you will find a link to a playlist on Regression. I have a video that explains standard error of the estimate too.
This video is part of a playlist on regression. I explain how calculate 2.2 and .6 in the first video in the playlist. You can find the a link to the playlist on regression in this video's description.
Great to hear and good luck on your exam. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
This is so helpful. I'm preparing to prepare my applications to graduate school, and I am immersing myself in statistics. This is a great resource. Sal Khan should be jealous :)
I don't have any on those topics yet, but it is a good idea. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
i watched all your videos regarding correlation and regression. i love how u explain everything . its so clear . usually im a slow learner but i can understand everything u explained in the videos. couldnt thanks more 🥰🥰
Ok, Thanks very much for replying. I was able to find a way to do it manually. The equation for a non linear coefficient of determination is 1-(SSE/Syy). Great tutorials by the way, they are a real life saver!
Tom - good question on regression. There is a link to 2 playlist in this video description. The first is on regression the 3rd and 4th videos should help. The 2nd playlist on how to read the SPSS regression output. I go through step by step what the data means. If this does not help, then post your question as a message on MyBookSucks FB page (you can add an attachment with your problem). Again the link is in this video description. Good Luck!
I like the way you analyze. Go on Brother and disclose all the knowledge which you have within you. Wishing God to give you a solid stamina to make the videos of all the contents of the memory card of your mind. Last, but not the least, a lucid analysis of statistics has been helping me for the best interpretation of different research results (From Nepal, with love and respect).
This video is part of a playlist "Linear Regression" on my channel statistics fun. I explain how to calculate 2.2 (the y intercept). The name of the video is "How to calculate linear regression using least square method. I added a link to the playlist in the video description, so you should be able to find the video. Let me know if this does not help.
sir you are really doing great. Please make these type of videos in future. Really these videos are helpful in clearing my doubts and I prefer to watch your videos than reading books
Thanks for this video you are a very genious not like my Dr who is wasting our time in his lecture Thanks again from the University of the South Pacific

Kirby, thank you! I appreciate the feedback. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
Simple Linear Regression. The same principle is true though for multiple linear regression as well. It is the difference between the estimated values and the mean of dependent variable too.
Very very clear explanation. It was a bit confusion for me since you do this without determining the regression line y=mx+b. But I've tested both way (with figure out y=mx+b first then calculate Rsquared=1-(SSE/SST) compared to yours) and give me same results. Great, your method is simpler and save some time...!!
Agung Enriko Thanks for you comment. I try to do this a simple as possible and design in such a way that it can easily be put into a spreadsheet. Happy to hear that you are finding my method a bit easier.
Seriously thanks a lot for your time to prepare such wonderful animations and teaching. I am neither math not statics student. IFRS 9 needs to measure Expected credit losses(ECL), as you understand - expected involves probability and regression. Thought of having an idea of basics. your lectures helped me a lot. Thanks a lot and God bless you with superb health.
I added a link to the Regression playlist and there are 9 videos. I included an introduction, how to calculate by hand, with Excel and SPSS. I go from start to finish. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
Neo this video is part of a larger playlist on regression. The link to the entire playlist is in the video description. The first video I show you how to derive the equation.
Dear Sir. tousend thanks for your nice presentation. These videos were the best, which I saw before. Cogratulation. AMAZING Videos. Everything were simple and clear.
Many thanks and it is my plan to keep posting and improving the videos/animations. If you have not done so make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (you can see the link in the video description). This will help other find the videos too. Again many thanks and I appreciate the feedback.
I'm going to be completely honest.. I feel that if these types of videos were offered at an online school, stats would be completely manageable with a lot less struggle.
Once again great video, but I have a question...can you use this method to calculate the R square between any function and a set of data or does the function have to go through that average coordinate that you calculated from the data? I ask this because I made a polynomial function for a set of data, but when I calculate the R square its above 1. I think its because it doesn't cross the average coordinate, but I am not sure. Thank you in advance.
Thank you very much and I appreciate the feedback. Make sure you like MyBookSucks on FaceBook (see link in video description). This will help others find the educational videos.
Ankit, You can find an entire playlist on regression in the video description of this video. In the first and second videos I explain how a regression line is built.

what you said is correct.
Hamidullah Khan me too brother , keep learning

looking at the comments, everyone is so satisfied with his explanation. how i wish the name of this channel was statisfaction.
lol
This is mind blowing....two years of lectures not understanding this, and i watch a few videos on here, and I'm finally getting it
Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Maybe you should send your professor a link to this video and the playlist on regression :). Make sure you tell your fellow students and like us on facebook (see link in the description of the video).

Sir, you are amazing.
Can we take the difference between y-hat and y and use the squared average to evaluate the goodness of fit?
I bought a linear regression book and I cannot tell you how much better this is for someone with a non-stat background. Thanks dude, for real.

I went 360 degrees to learn this concept, and finally, you made my day bright. STAY BLESSED!!!
8 years later, you saved my life! THANK YOOOOOU!!!
the fact that u add party more study less at the end of every video makes me feel less guilty and less stressed. thank you so much!
These seriously summed up at least a month of classes on correlation and regression for me. Thank you SO much. Please please PLEASE do more of these!
You are awesome!!!!!!! You have taught me more in 4 videos than what my prof has tried to teach me in 6 classes. My prof is so dry and has no clue of how to teach. Sure professor
is it the same equation as R2=SSR/SST ?
_clear and simple explanation, you made it confidence_
You made it confidence? What does that even mean? Slumdogs always struggle with English.
This video explained in 7:40 minutes what my Professor couldn't explain in 2 Hours of Lecture Thank u so much Thumbs up !!!
Great to hear! Not that your confused but my videos are helping you. I have always thought that animations help students learn.

I was sick of the SST, SSR definitions and wanted to refresh what I had learnt in school. This was super helpful!
Thanks for the video series. I'd done regression in college, in the early 90s and really hadn't done them ever since. Your videos brought it all back
Hamidkhan said the best words to express this....

Keep up the good work!
Amazing video. You have simplified the concept so much. Thanks a lot
This is a really good video - easy to visualize and clear explanation! Thanks so much!
wooow .. i have seen like hunderds of videos to understand this damn R squard .. I just niw got .. u r brilliant .. really .. thx alot
Hi! Why don't you take 1 - 0.6=0.4 = 40% for the goodness of fit?
Even more so, after some research i dont think this is the R^2 method at all...
Very nice explanation. It helped me a lot.
Please also reply how regression line was made or how those regression points were marked on regression line?
Thanks for such a clear and concise explanation...really feeling exciting about learning statistics more..keep it up.
Excellent !!!!!!! Superb !!!! - Video and Explanation both are great - No doubt left
Thanks a lot
appreciate your hard work in taking time to create this video which is really worth million thanks.. such a great explanation about linear regression ...kudos to you .. i am looking forward for classification, clustering and recommendations from you as i am preparing for Data science certification
Simply EXCELLENT! Very Clear. Thank You!
