  • The focus of Natalie Heckl is the design of light shows with the vision of the perfect interplay between music and the visual representation of music through light.
Designing spaces with light, conveying an emotion to the guests as potential performers of the event, catching them with a certain vibe or atmosphere, or inviting them to join in, is the art of the creative presentations of her shows. Bridging the gap between the light in the club, its architecture and light art is an essential part of her work.
The origin of her work was set in the late `90s, when she started as a LJ in the Techno club Ultraschall in Munich's Kunstpark Ost and immersed herself into the techno scene. During her engineering studies "Event Technology and Management" at the BHT University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, she started working as a lighting technician at the world famous night club Berghain and still works there.
She also worked on at the university, within the project aim of initiating an innovative new course of studies on the subject of lighting technology and lighting design.
Currently, in her position as Technical Director, she manages the important light art exhibition Dark Matter, which is a unique high tech location for audiovisual spatial experiences. She works in an interdisciplinary way, for example also in her own design and development of luminaires, and is active both nationally and internationally as a lighting designer in the field of club and stage lighting.
