Worked there in the seventies at the new harbour, never ever thought that it would come to this, but do not be conned by TATA or the unions who have done nothing to save or create jobs in the area, remember BP at Baglan Bay and all the other enterprises that successive governments and unions that have failed the workers of this area.

this is like saying, " we make Model T- Fords, so why cant we continue to make them " ?
Steel technology has moved on, but due to "nationalisation" there was no investment in modernising our steel industry in the 60's,70's, 80's etc, so it fell behind and became too expensive for the low grade steel it produced for its market. Today China, India and Tiawan can do the same, but FAR CHEAPER.
This closure is a result of nationisation, resulting in both Labour and Tory govt's chosing to spend money elsewhere and NOT investing in the future of steel.
Thats why nationalisation is always a bad idea, as any govt will always build a hospital/school etc first, before a new steel mill.
However, that reality doesn't sell newspapers / get viewing figures.
STOP PRESS : Coaching Inn and Stables available for quick sale, close to RAILWAY STATION.

Why didn't the steelworkers support the miners was it the case of I'm all right Jack maybe now you understand what it felt like I think Tata Steel is going to say Tata to you, the chance to sort this counties government out was lost because industries like the steelworks along with others freely chose to throw that chance away and now it's come back to bite your butts, life can be a bitch suck it up and move on

Bugger all to do with Brexit. More to do with 50yrs of lack of investment.
