    Thanks for the mention Axel!! Always enjoy reviewing builds, the DDO community is so helpful and kind, it’s one of the main reasons I’ve continued to play this game. Paladin is super strong for newer players and also has both a high skill and damage ceiling, I’ve always enjoyed playing Paladin, whether it’s THF, SWF, TWF, Vanguard, or as tank. Keep up the great videos🤘

    i love the mention to turn off sacred defender stance once you start raiding. so many people just leave it on. im guessing that was a phloat note since ive personally seen him yell at people to turn it off :P

    Ran isle of dread on reaper, and entire people died When we got swarmed… except for our first life paladin (with bard buffs - healing ) who carried us all as pocket princesses while taking a relaxed stroll through the adventure. Even pausing in the middle of a group of monsters to check its character sheet… mid battle…

    At higher epic levels use the free feat swap to swap stunning blow for imp sunder. With t5 ld and t4 fury trip is a helplessness producer on shorter cooldown. T5 ld and t4 fury is the way to go. Imp sunder will give massive crit vuln and thus benefits every physical attacker. Stunning blow has too long cooldown

    • @JEEBUSxHIMSELF
      @JEEBUSxHIMSELF 3 месяца назад

      does that trip actually work now? i remember it being bugged to never trip anything in epics

      I definitely agree that T5 LD T4 Fury is a solid destiny choice. However for paladin T5 DC is extremely strong for two big reasons. Firstly, Mighty Crusade allows you to get the 10% damage 1 imbue dice buff usually gotten from Consecration instead from using your smites (on top of a passive +10 AC/PRR). This means you can use a second epic strike, like quick cutter, which go BRRRRRR. Secondly, Law of the Divine gives you a 14d6 200% scaling on-hit ability which is essentially a second imbue. Extremely strong for dps. If you feel you’re lacking on the crowd control you can always use Consecration, which, because you’re T5 DC, is an AoE cower, and unlike improved trip, has no target limit and works on EVERY kind of enemy. The Cower CC is one part of what makes dragonlord so strong. I think Axels’ pick for T5 DC T4 Fury T2 SD is very solid. You could argue for dropping to T3 Fury and go T3 SD and pick up evasion, but again, T5 DC.

    This guide comes at a good time. I am thinking of running a Bladeforged Paladin/Dragonlord for my new life. I am thinking of doing a 12 Pal, 8 DL split. THF with greatsword. Str to hit and damage. Do you think this would be viable?

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK  3 месяца назад +1

      @@JacobDTulio Yes, pally lord is great and I ran a life recently doing it. I'd advise going 15 pally / 5 DL instead though. You need 14 pally atleast for holy sword and 15 pally gives you a second level 4 spell slots so that you can use Zeal as well.

    Thanks for the video! As a casual player I'm always lost in the game and how the attributes work, because sometimes it stacks, sometimes it dont... Like you said at the video "You should get one item for each of the basic stats (str/con/etc)". So I can presume a +2 str and a +3 str wont give me a +5 str?
    Do you have a video about it? Like a more detailed gear progression or something like that? See you :D

    • @scottgray636
      @scottgray636 3 месяца назад +1

      Strength doesn't stack unless it is, strength, insightful strength, quality strength, and profane strength those stack. Notice the prefix is different.

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK  3 месяца назад +1

      @@ViniviciousGames Basically you need to look at the prefix/bonus type to know what stacks, like above said. With gear the rule of thumb is if the prefix/bonus type is different, it stacks. If it's the same, it doesn't. There's exceptions to this rule outside of gear. But with gear it's pretty consistently true. I don't have a more in depth video on gear stacking, but it's a good idea.

    While I agree that paladins are very powerful at any time, i think they are not very good for new players. they require STR (for attack and damage), DEX (saves and AC), CON (to stay alive), WIS (for saves, damage, and spellcating) a little INT ( because you do need a few skills) and CHA (for saves, skills, and turns if you like them). they also require all the melee gear for survival, DS, and maybe intimidate, and something for healing.
    they are also kinds feat-starved but have tons of feats that you want or need to take.
    also playing the combined role of DPS, tank, healer and buffer.
    My main character's first 2 lives were paladin, and it was so overwhelming and i always thought that i was not doing it right, i think it is something you should leave to when you have a few tomes, gear and better understanding of the game.

    • @BlightCaster
      @BlightCaster 3 месяца назад +1

      my recommendationfor new players - go warlock! just invest in CHA and blast enemies from a distance, everything else is just a bonus.

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK  3 месяца назад +3

      You only need STR and CON, and a little CHA. Works plenty fine for 28 points. You can dump everything else, though I did put 2 points in WIS here to make things easier for new players who have no tomes to meet min spell casting requirements. You have enough INT for 2 skills already, and DPS pally really doesn't even skills anyway. Divine grace means your saves are great without dex/wis investment. Warlock is a good choice too, but I have always thought melees are easier than casters to understand and play for someone just starting out.

    I would have recommended SWF vs THF but agree that Paladin is an excellent choice. It’s also a great PL if they continue with the game.

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK  3 месяца назад +2

      SWF pally is great but I think THF is a better experience for a new player to start out with. You get that strikethrough AoE damage immediately, whereas SWF comes into its own later in the leveling process. I'd guess the vast majority of brand new players trying DDO end up quitting before they even make it out of the Harbor, so it's so important for them to have the best experience right out of the gate. In my experience with SWF builds, they felt a little sluggish in comparison to THF until I got high enough level to get the full attack speed from the 3 SWF line of feats and AoE abilities from the destinies - at which point they really take off. Plus with THF it's just easier to play IMO because strikethrough means you don't need to care as much about character positioning and mashing active AoE abilities.

    No. Barbarian is the best for new players. Blood tribute makes you immortal early on and you have lots of hit points and damage to get to epic!

    • @Phloat_on_by
      @Phloat_on_by 3 месяца назад +2

      Barbarian is very solid. I think Barbarian is better than paladin for 1st life characters for experienced players and for some new players, but for others, using blood tribute stresses them out and doesn’t make as much sense as getting basic healing. I agree that blood tribute is probably stronger than LoH when you know how to use it, but newer players won’t always know. Both Barb and Pally are solid choices. I’m sure Axel will make a barb video at some point.
