I've spent all day learning how to remove my throttle body, which I'm now prepared to do. Thank goodness you've shown a way to bypass that! I've just changed my regulator. The only thing I had to do differently was to back out a throttle body screw that was in the way of backing the regulator out of the engine. Saved me a lot of time. Many thanks.
Thanks. You saved me 30 minutes not removing the throttle body. Fuel pressure regulator was causing hard start cold engine, not bleeding fuel into vacuum line.
Thank you!! The other video I watched didn't show how he got that big 15/16" (or 24mm) wrench in there. Glad you could do it with a pair of pliers. Yes, I flinched when the gas squirted out LOL! I have had O2 codes set but they went away, the gas smell and occasional leak is what got me looking. Turned the pump on, and the thing was covered in gas. Had my wife come out and turn it on so I could see where it was coming from, and nothing!! Thanks for most importantly showing us how to put it back together!!
Thank you for actually showing how to do it, a lot of people that make videos on this are just like "well I already have the new regulator in but I'll tell you how I did it" as if that helps anyone trying to figure out exactly what to look for
Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. Just a few minor things though: my '04 3.4 needed a T-27, not T-30. I just went ahead and replaced that pain in the a$$ bolt w/a 10mm flange head M6-1.0 x 25mm bolt, although it could've used more like a 20mm or shorter, but that's what I had on hand. The bottom fuel line fitting was stuck to the regulator and wouldn't move, so I used the 24mm wrench and a 15/16 (I didn't have two 24's) to twist the opposite way to unstick it. I had a much more difficult time than you did, but I wanted to put that out there for people that might have the same issues. Thanks again!
Next time pull the pump relay first start the car multiple times until the engine won’t start anymore that way the engine sucked all the gas out of the lines. Then when you remove the regulator there won’t be anymore pressure in the lines. All you did was cut the fuel pump why’ll it was running but you didn’t get all the pressure out of the line
Exactly what I was looking for and beautifully explained and video is great. Algorithm needs to rank this much higher. Maybe add some more keywords to include the other GM vehicles and engine sizes this repair applies to. Thanks for everything!
Nice video. Most mechanics would remove the throttle body assembly plus other lines. You showed these things can be worked around. When you removed the reg from the injector port there was a lot of fuel leaking under pressure and not leaking out of the vacuum port which meant the diaphragm was good. Most regulators on these models will leak fuel from the top vacuum line when the diaphragm goes bad. Good job.
Thanks for helpful info, yea sometimes a repair can be made harder then it needs to be. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
OMG thank you so much... Single black mom couldn't afford to pay. Glad I didn't easy to do myself. Plus go take all these parts and tools I don't need.. You're Heaven sent🙏🙏💃🤗
Just did this on my 03 3.4L Impala. It was showing all the usual symptoms of failure e.g. hard starting, especially when warm. The symptoms abated when the vacuum line was disconnected, forcing maximum fuel pressure. I figured I'd be okay for a few days until the replacement arrived, but it was leaking gas out the vacuum port, bad. So off to AutoZone. The correct tool to use would be a "flare nut" wrench. Too bad AutoZone didn't have one that large. TAKE YOUR TIME and go slow if you use an adjustable wrench. If you round off the nut, you'll probably have to replace the two fuel lines along with all the extra disassembly. Definitely make sure you wear eye protection when you do this and wrap it in a sock or something when you pull it. Better have it and not need it, but it's a good habit to have a fire extinguisher handy whenever working on the fuel system too.
I just changed out my impala fuel pressure regulator. I had to cherry pick your method and went beyond. I had to back out the one 13 mm bolt holding the Throttlebody to make room for the regulator to come out properly. Also I disconnected the fuel line at the connector on the other side of the throttlebody to give me some flexibility to get the bottom inlet line nut loose as it was not easy to break It loose. I ended up mutilating the old regulator to get a grip on it to break the nut loose. I’m assuming that’s why you did not do a in-process video because I think maybe you had to hack At the old regulator that you replaced, I could be wrong. Anyway I did not have to take the throttlebody off at all and the whole process took an hour.
The FPR is new and I notices when checking the connection of the ETC because; my fans dont kick on till fiel temp gauge hits 3/4 on the needle. Or; just turn on the heater defrost on AC. I found that fuel was leaking onto it the ETC. I pulled the line off the top dry. Cleaned FPR dry and it is getting wet somwhere in the middle. Its late now however; if the regulator is new. It may be improperly installed. I will use your install method to take off and reinstall myself. No need for the mechanic.
My dude you kilt me when you said socket wrench 😂 idk why but that was so funny. Good skills tho, I used your video to verify if I got the right regulator or not, thanks man. I subscribed cause you’re funny.
New fuel pump. Gas is getting from the pump to the filter but not to the filter to the motor , relays are good , can i just run a fuel hose from filter to engine ?

Very helpful and expertly explained. Thank you for this awsome video. I am definitely liking, subscribing and sharing!👍🏽🔧. I'm installing a new one on my 2002 impala because it's leaking out the top but also it seems like my car is laking power and the transmission is not shifting smoothly. Should this fix this problem? I'm planning on replacing my in-line fuel filter as well.Thank you again.🛐✝️
you should pull your fuel pump relay before you do that. Just saying. Also you can let the pressure out first with the valve you check fuel pressure at.
On the other side of the fuel rail there’s a bolt to relieve the fuel pressure. You wanna do that before you take the regulator off so you don’t squirt fuel everywhere. Other than that good video

There's no way that nut at the bottom wasn't already loose you had the monkey wrench on for like 2 seconds... I have the same wrench and it rounded it off. UGH
