Teaching is so HARD! It's not you, you are a fantastic teacher. Sometimes we just get really tough classes with so many issues that we cannot hardly keep up with the different learning styles, etc. Hang in there and know we are here cheering you on!
I am so sorry you are having a rough start. I can tell you are passionate about teaching. I'm having a harder start than normal this year too. Not the kids...I am just not in my head. I can't get it together 😮. But we will make it. Hang in there!
I’m feeling the same the way this school. This class is different and hard. I’m honestly think I’ll retire because it’s just too much. Too many issues . But you are an amazing teacher. Praying for you ❤
I am so sorry to hear how rough it has been. Teachers are often put in impossible situations. One can tell by looking at your room how much effort and heart you put into teaching. Lack of support is driving many amazing people out of this profession. Hoping things turn around for you! Take care...
Yes, a teacher left my school Friday. I have to keep reminding myself that I am here for a reason and to not quit to become a professional classroom decorator. I hope your year is going better than mine.
Trust me it’s not you! I’m in my 16th year of teaching and the year before last was my worst year. It made me almost want to give up until I changed subjects. I enjoy watching your vlogs and I pray you have better days this year! You got this!
This is my first year with 3rd grade and… I really wish I would have stayed with 6th grade, but the attitudes and those behaviors were over the top. Now I’m dealing with scholars that can hardly write, spell and etc. they are so far behind and need major interventions. This is going to be a LONG year.
I worked in my room for a couple of hours today and I went and chopped off my hair! A little over 7 inches gone! My students were begging me not to do it but I wanted it cut so bad.
Make it clear to the parents that they need to help their children study and with homework. Also, the kids need to write out their time tables on flashcards or on paper that they cut themselves so that they can study on the way to school, on weekends, etc. What are the parents doing about these behavioral issues at home?
Nothing, we (me and all teachers at my school) lack parental support. I'm sure you're blessed to teach at a perfect school, with perfect parents and unlimited funds and resources. That is not my reality.
@@Teachingonsunshine , I work at a private preschool, but things are far from perfect. It can get very stressful at times with behavioral issues, coworker drama, etc. We do the best with what we have. Keep a positive attitude and keep a cool temperament. Don’t let anything push you over the edge. Remember, you’re a teacher for a reason and you are making a difference in the life of all your students. The ones with serious behavioral issues need structure, redirection, but especially a lot of love because they often come from trauma or unstable homes. Make them a teacher helper, give them a job, and praise good behavior. Let them know that you believe in them.
You are right, this is my 8th and hopefully last year in 3rd grade. Placement is determined by administration though. We have a request and unfortunately sometimes those requests are denied.
I can tell that you have a passion for teaching, but are struggling with behavioral issues and low test scores. Talk to your principal and ask for help. Also, look up classroom management strategies on youtube for your grade level. Right now, you seem to be focused on consequences. Add a reward system or positive reinforcement to your day. First example, have the kiddos earn star cash or points that they can use to buy a small trinket from the prize jar. Also, iready games can be a prize that they can have only when they finish their classwork. Praise their good behavior. A lot of kids come from dysfunctional homes and need both structure and love. If kids are misbehaving because they are chatting during class, modify the seating arrangement. Separate them from their buddies.
Hi, thank you for your advice. I do not have a problem with classroom management. Matter of factly, I run my classroom so well I get the troubled kids year after year. I have mentioned this in a couple of my previous vlogs. My students are praised and rewarded daily. Like all classroom managements systems there are consequences...that's what I chose to vlog about. Moving forward, I will be sure to include the highs and lows of my day so that you can get a clearer picture of what I'm like as a teacher.
@@Teachingonsunshine , I’m new to your channel, but can relate to the struggle. We are here to help each other. I appreciate your journey because it’s so real. You don’t sugarcoat things just to safe face.
I just wanted to say that you have a beautiful classroom. It's nicely decorated.
Thank you so much 🙂

Thank you so much. After the great year I had last year I didn't think it could go downhill.

I pray your year gets better. I need to stop overthinking things too; just do what I can.

Love your anchor charts! Will the story elements and key math words be available on TPT? Thanks!
Thank you ...no, those are from Amy Grosbeck on TPT.

You are a awesome teacher
Thank you.
Happy Birthday
Thank you!
ME TOO 😓
Hope your year turns around for the better.

I could never do middle school for those same reasons. I hope your year gets better.

I bet your new haircut is cute!

I'm just shocked that you didn't drop down to first grade this school year.
I know I should've went. I was scared of change. This year has forced me to go off faith.
@@Teachingonsunshine you are a great teacher and a great teacher can teach anything.
I'm a ordained minister in the Baptist Church and please know this I am praying for you 🤗
I want to leave you my cell phone number but I don't know where I can leave it to you 🙂.
Hi Mrs Francois it’s me ashvin
Heyyyy!!!
Maybe teach a different grade level?

@@Teachingonsunshine , the lower grades are often easier to teach.
@teachermaria6149 That's not true. Teaching is hard regardless of grade level. The little ones can be challenging, too.
@@brownsugar2u , with the right training they are easier to redirect. Older kids that come to you with bad habits are harder to change or control.
No way the little kids are the worst behaved go to 5th or 6th grade! 6th grade is much better behaved
