Thanks, Denise! Did you say Luan?

So sorry Linda...I thought I got back to you but let it slip by. Yes luan...its just the name of the plywood, not sure why, but that's what they call it at Dixiline Lumber and I think Home Depot. It's just a 1/4 inch plywood. I did just purchase 12x12 precut pieces of 1/8 inch on amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013NT3OAC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1...it was a good price for so many 45 pieces and so far I like working with them for small works...1/8 is too thin for anything larger than a 12x12 as I believe it will warp. Thanks for asking Linda...sorry for the slow reply!

I love what you’re doing - do you have to gesso or seal the board first before putting on the plaster and do you have to seal the plaster before you add acrylic paint over it?

Good morning Lynn, I do not gesso the board first as the plaster has properties in it that stick to the board and act as primer it all at once. You also don't need to seal it before painting over it. I use it under and sometimes over my paints and it is very secure. If you are using Modern Masters Venetian plaster or the UP plaster from Michaels...they are an acrylic based plaster and work well with acrylic paints. Have fun with it Lynn!🌷

Have you tried this on canvas? I love the idea...and you make it look so interesting.

I have Don, and it works pretty good...but cradle boards are best. It is actually pretty nice to spread, I love working with it!

mmmh..yes you know me, I love texture, I never tried Venetian plaster, will look for it. Can't wait to see what you do with your boards. Have fun with your art Denise. Hopefully these crazy times will not drag out too long, I like working in my art room,but....our income suffers as our party business is not enjoying the usually busy season. Oh well...life goes on. Big Hug..stay well.: )

Or...do you think this would work on a surfboard? I have an old one that I'd like to experiment with.

It probably would...as long as you’re not planning to surf with it!🤣

If your creating an art piece with the surfboard it might be pretty cool...but I don’t have any experience with that to give you a full on thumbs up!🤔
