Sarah Beeny meets first-time developers Alex and Vonny Shelley, who try to transform a run-down mid-terrace house in Nottingham on a budget of just £5,000. After six weeks, costs spiral out of control and their friends are too busy to help with the building work. (Year: 2003).
God, when they said they felt like Sarah was talking to them like she was a headmistress all I could think was, No, Sarah is talking to you as if you're adults capable of taking responsibility for your own actions. It's your own fault that you're not. This was one of the most frustrating episodes honestly.
Vonny says Alex is going to take over because he has more knowledge of the building work. ... SAY, WHAT? These two are the most useless pair. I can't believe she THINKS he knows ANYTHING; he lets everyone else work for him. Then she says; "I'm fed up with it, I'm bored of it hanging 'round now, I just want to see it done... and it just doesn't seem to... it's taking forever." AS THOUGH SHE EXPECTS IT TO DO ITSELF. They are shockingly useless. They don't want to work on it and don't want to pay anyone else to work on it. And they aren't even embarrassed by their own behavior. The work done is shoddy (except for the work done by his best friend whom, one can tell, has standards!). They laugh at everything, they're disrespectful to Sarah. They DON'T CARE that the work is dreadful. I find them rather disgusting. And in the end, I'd say they don't deserve to make any money on this project.
Hmm, I'm beginning to think there's a certain look as well as an attitude that seems to predict who's going to actually be successful at property development. These folks are too laid back, not apparently aware of the seriousness of their endeavor. Sarah's largesse of spirt seems limitless.
This is the worst espiside i have seen😢 unpleasant couple and totally inflexible, often rude too. The upstairs configuration was diastrous😢 removal of fireplace was diastrous😢 the kitchen was a dark dingy hole😢...the paint finish was a joke😢 = no profit😊

Dreadful couple😢.. worst episode ever😢😢😢

I agree 100% - it was the man, he couldn't be told anything😢 and this is his result...
It's fine to have friends that come and pitch in, but you don't stand around and NOT WORK while THEY ARE WORKING!
Shows what a horrible user he is...
@@imsk6729 Absolutely! Shocking behaviour.

100% correct!
Why don't people listen to Sarah. She has lots of experience and knowledge
What a user of a friend (!)
So that initial suggestion would make it a very attractive property. And they are going to ignore it. Can't watch the painful outcome!!
I hope the people see this program before they put an offer in!!!!!! I would never like to bye a cup of tea from these two, let alone a home .
How on earth, can he say. "For the amount of work they put in" I didn't see him lift a finger.

They want to sell someone a house with a roof not fit for purpose😢 greed😢
"We found a house we'd like to buy... " ... maybe they can get their friends to pay for it.
LOL!!!
Sad episode😔
Steta da ove emisije nema u Hrvstskoj😢
This couple were embarrassing to watch.
They were unpleasant, refused wise advice and were cutting costs with greed. They deserved what the got - next to nothing.
What's with those tiles roofs? Don't they have asphalt shingles like we do here in Canada?
No.
Don't. Australia is mostly tin roofs now, as they reflect heat

Thank you for posting!!
Karma got them! They were lazy, ungrateful and wanted top price for mostly shoddy work. The kitchen was awful!
Oh, these over optimistic under realistic “developers”!
Trading one bedroom for another for indirect bathroom access, and sacrificing space for the corridor, makes no sense.
What is this obsession with glass doors for the bathroom? Is seeing people taking a dump or a shower a necessity?
Lol!
Hahaha I think the old houses are so dark, they perhaps introduce light wherever they can?
Horrible layout. On principle, people just won't take Sarah's advice. They have to defend their inferior plans, no matter what.
