I just realized today that when i went to calculate power dissapation at 8v@5a. i used 10v instead.it would be 70w not 60.😆My comment of," if it works at 6amps it will work at 20amps"really wasn't the most accurate statement.i was over generalizing i think.if the capacitors are low in value, power supply output voltage could sag under load..ive also seen other power supplies with current limit go into limiting prior to their design parameters because of lower value capacitors.

I do love these American Astron Power supplies, sold my big ones years ago. I do have a small 12m somewhere though. Thanks for sharing old boy.😁

    Ah, crowbar protection.
I remember working on a big old AC drive that used SCRs instead of transistors in the inverter section.
I put my oscilloscope onto some circuit and managed to trigger the crowbar protection, blowing some very large and expensive fuses 😮

Oh wow, sounds like you hit the sweet spot😄scr's do come in the sensitive gate variety, these scr's are not.you musta' had the,"itchy trigger finger"variety.😆makes sense you might of had some expensive cartridge fuses.just don't wrap them with aluminum foil.😁thanku for comment.

      Exactly.
I have witnessed some dodgy deeds where fuses have been substituted with other stuff at hand.

@@lindsaybrown7357 my friend in md.took a trip to burn center doing plant maintenance. A worker shoved some copper pipe in a panel fuse block..lucky he's alive.dumb people shouldn't breed.😅even worse was the guys that bypassed a foot switch on a industrial mixer.need I say more.

Do you have a video showing how you put a amplifier in that Madison speaker cabinet?

They were done one year ago,if that helps.there was chemistry video in between them I believe.

Would u like to see schematics on stuff I do? If so,I can give it a try on somethings.my table very small, camera very narrow.🙂thanks for interest.

@@generalingwer4341 Schematics are always nice, whether sketched on paper or on LTSpice or TINA.

you hooked the fuse holder up wrong. The line always goes to the end terminal, less chance of a shock hazard.
