VIDEO DESCRIPTION
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
If you’ve ever been to a job interview feeling confident you have the skills, experience, and qualifications for the job and then got rejected - then this should give you some insight.
In this video I explore the common characteristics between candidates who are successful and candidates who didn’t get the job so you don’t need to attend interview after interview.
Some of the most popular reasons include:
NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTION
How frustrated do you get when you ask someone a question and you get a long response - but no actual answer?! That's how interviewers feel sitting through a ton of explanations that don't answer their interview questions
LACK OF PASSION
Would you date someone who didn't seem interested? Well - interviewers and hiring managers don't want to hire someone who doesn't seem enthusiastic either.
LACK OF RESEARCH
There are key areas you must research before you interview this can take as little as 5-7 minutes if done right, and WILL impress your interviewer
LACK OF PREPARATION
I know - fail to prepare & prepare to fail is a cliche - but there's a reason it became an overused statement - practicing and preparing in the right way WILL make a difference between a job OFFER and a REJECTION
NOT UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE
Seems silly, but so many candidates make the effort of getting all the way to an interview, then can't answer the question 'what's your understanding of the role' with clarity
In this video I share some simple, but powerfully effective solutions.

What is some of the interview feedback you've been given? Was it helpful?
HI Amri, your videos are extremely helpful, thank you. Could you please make a video how to relate CPD (or any education related) and a situation where used. Thank you
I have a interview at the VA for a STNA position I’m so nervous. I’m not use to talking in a interview with several people.
Great tips as always! I can't believe you've had someone eating chicken and chips in an interview LOL! xoxo
Thanks Katie! I know, pretty shocking at the time as well!
This is good.
@Amri Celeste. Finishing their Chicken & Chips...LOL...For that bit of humor, I'll Sub to the channel.
Yes true story unfortunately, he left the box under his chair :/ - thank you for subbing, much appreciated!
Hi, love the videos. What is a CV????
Thank you Clarissa! - CV is an abbreviation for Curriculum Vitae. It's the UK version of a Resume.
Hi Amri, I have been interviewing quite a bit. I am a super-skilled sales rep who always researches before hand and takes the actions you suggested yet I don't get the offers I want. I just turned 60 last week (my photo is from this summer) and I work out often so Im in good shape but I cant help but feel is ageism. How do I conquer that? Appreciate your feedback! Ellie
Hi Ellie, although what I recommend varies depending on the specifics of your situation (i.e. the specific roles, career history etc) it can be helpful to condense your experience, going back 10 years maximum, and keeping the most impactful roles that are most relevant to the role you're applying for (if this isn't something you're already doing). With experienced candidates sometimes a long career history needs to be condensed to more attractive to an employer - I hope this helps, and best of luck!
