Sky SC remake. I know this one is a given but I am not too sure if they are gonna go all in and do it straight after or wait a little bit, I'd rather not have it be too big of a gap. I would also like a ys V remake what is probably gonna happen eventually but I think they need to balance out the remakes with new games so I'd be willing to wait for that one
Great video! I'd also like to see the Crossbell arc remade, but only after the Sky trilogy is done (those games need it more). As for other Falcom stuff, I'd like to see an Ys V remake alongside remasters of their older games (Zwei, Brandish, Gurumin etc.). Right now, you can only play most of their non-Trails and Ys titles via emulation or via Steam, which aren't the most accessible.
I imagine they would remake Sky SC and Sky the 3rd. No idea if they do the crossbell games, but it would be easier as they have presets from the Cold Steel games. Either way, us falcom fans are eating good
I definitely want them to remake the crossbell arc games. They have the English voice actors already from cold steel 2-4 and reverie as well as crossbell and all its areas 3d graphics so I feel like it be relatively easy for them to do
More than anything else..if falcom is gonna be remaking FC, then they BETTER remake the full trilogy, as leaving things at just one game would be asinine. 😭 I think a remake of the crossbell arc would be cool as well, but i don't believe it's anywhere near as "needed".
If they did remasters of Cold Steel I and II, I'd want them to try and reimplement the content that they had to cut out -- the stuff from the Drama CDs. And the next Ys remake has to be V. I won't accept anything else.
@@chickenfillets Yeah, supposedly, there were unused incomplete assets for Ymir hidden on disc in CS1's original release, which makes it sound like they were gonna portray it in-game, but dropped it when it became unfeasible.
I would like the Crossbell games remade. They already possess all the needed assets from the Cold Steel games to do it in 3D. And I wouldn't mind revisiting the Cold Steel games again if they included new gameplay for story sections we gear about but never saw. Crow taking on his trials in Ordis, the group B field studies events without Rean, everything that ever happened in Juria when has an connecting door on the map in CS3 but we never actually go, those japanese exclusive stories like the vacation trip to Ymir or the rescue mission to Alister.... a vanilla port would be fine ofcourse since new players don't have access to the first two games on current consoles, but I think remaking games like Cold Steel would be a good opportunity to just fill in the gaps and maybe alude to further world building we know more about now
I don’t want Falcom stuck remaking their games forever. The Liberl Trilogy? Sure that’s fine. Crossbell Duology? Maybe down the road. Cold Steel doesn’t need anything and it would just waste time. Ys V is still waiting on that remake treatment and more importantly I want the series to be finished.
Remaking the games is not just for the sake of getting 3d it's to bring New fans, I can't imagine them getting the trilogy remade and then tell the new fans just play the rest with old graphics
I think that is exactly what Falcom wants tho, lmao. Unlimited remakes is a cash cow, and remember its a different team so its not like its taking resources from the mainline.
Awesome video John. Really like the slightly different style. I played around 25 hours of Trails in the Sky but I never finished it. So I'm really excited to play this Remake. Estelle is such a great character. Regarding Ys I'd love to see a Remake or Remaster for Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim. It's one of my favorite Ys games.
I’d much rather they focus on making the Final Saga of Trails something that exceeds even our wildest expectations than putting resources into too many remakes personally. That being said I understand the benefit remakes will have on onboarding new fans (I’d love them myself too.)
I can't wait to pick up this remake on physical. I started with Trails Through Daybreak and I'm a believer in this series at this point. Gameplay looks very similar to daybreak as well.
A Crossbell arc remake would be awesome if we eventually get there. That's just years away. At least, I hope they remake the whole Sky arc first. Cold Steel 1 & 2, I aggree as well, but that's so far down the line that it's not on my radar. Now if for some reason Trails in the Sky 1st fails to bring in new players/fans to the series, we may not even get Sky 2nd or a 3rd remake. So, we as fans should focus on showing up to support Sky 1st as much as our wallets can bare, and share the trailers on social media as they release to get the word out to any potential fans. It may seem obvious that Sky 1st will be successful, but if we let our guard down, it could very well be just another niche hidden gem in the JRPG genre. Which basically means commercial failure that adopts a cult following after the fact. Just like it's predecessor.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to write an awesome comment! I absolutely agree with you it'll be down the line for anything else! And I also agree that the new one definitely needs to be supported! The good thing in my eyes as a content creator is I'm seeing alot of channels talking about the Trails series ranging from bigger channels from the like of The Kieski Nut to other smaller channels like Cyrus Bright. I definitely want to get this title! Thank you for watching!
@chickenfillets Exactly! And my pleasure~ It's content creators like you, that are on the front lines keeping these games in the minds of the fanbase. Keep up the great work! Instant sub for me~
I'd be fine with them remaking older Falcom games (especially Ys) but I did just buy Crossbell, Reverie and Daybreak a couple of months ago. I have all but 3rd.
I mean, they're obviously going to do SC following on from the first unless something disastrous happens. But I'm not so confident they're necessarily going to do Sky the 3rd. Would I love that, absolutely, it's one of my favorites in the series, but they have a record of leaving it out when releasing FC and SC again. One thing that does give me hope for that is the naming scheme for this remake: "Trails in the Sky the 1st" would suggest they're retrofitting 3rd's naming scheme onto the remakes, so maybe they do plan to do all 3. Crossbell remakes would be really cool, but I think Falcom might actually want to move on from Trails, at least temporarily. Kondo actually hinted at discussions of Sky remakes taking place before this announcement; in the same interview, he expressed how they want to wrap up the series by 2030. Some have suggested this is because Kondo plans to retire in 2031, but I can't confirm if that's true or not. Either way, if they're pushing for the end of the series, they may want to take a break from it for a while. Drop Sky remakes to reduce the barrier to entry, release the final arc of the series, and then have some rest from it.
I’d be very happy with Crossbell remake but they are not needed imo. They are still very great, playable, and insanely fun. My only minor complaint is no English dub & no QoL features on ps4 but that’s nbd really.
If they are going to remake SC, they really need to adjust the pace/structure of the original story because it got bogged down by all the four grandmaster boss fights. If only the story was perfect, I would have been crying manly tears at the end of SC. FC and Trails of Zero by far had the best stories in the first 4 games of the series.
It's a remake of a PC game not of a PSP game. The PSP version was a port of the Windows original a couple years later. What stops them from remaking crossbell? How about finishing the Sky arc remakes and finishing the series and moving on to something new? They are getting fatigued with working on Trails.
Hey John, thanks for the video! Well I really need to take time and play those legend of heroes game, already got Trails in the sky the first on PSP and PC, don't think I will buy the remake, graphic are overrated lol What I want from Falcom, more great new games lol
if they want to remake ys titles, i'd love to see ys V and the ys seven era games being remade, i'd love to see the napishtm engine games (6, oath and origin) being remade too but i feel those games were designed with the perspective in mind and changing to 3d will require significant changes - that said origin is phenomenal and i hope it gets to see the glory of a remake someday
I haven't played any of the series yet, backlog issues. Have you heard of a game called Bomb Rush Cyberfunk John? It's similar to Jet Set Radio if you're interested and physical copies are going at a good price from The Game Collection.
one I don't see get mentionned for a potential remake and is a bit of a hot take is Ys 1&2. While 1&2 Chronicles is a great game for the fans its a very awkward one for people just discovering the series and looking up its first games. I believe it gives the wrong impression of what to expect from the series in modern times and should have a modernized remake to revamp its gameplay for an audience that lacks the context of Ys's history.
I believe Ys V is more or less confirmed to be next up for a remake. Its existence is a bit of a sore spot for Falcom as they had to cut a lot of content and ended up turning the game into a very generic-looking SNES action RPG. It's also conspicuously in the middle of the timeline, taking place between Felghana and Dana.
I would want to see a CS1-2 remake at least. Crossbell is alright, when they made it they know how to use the engine. But out all of the games in the series CS1-2 suffered the most because they didn't know how to handle 3D. IMO after Sky CS1-2 needs the most of a remake-
I'm kinda in the middle on this, am I excited for Sky FC to be remade? Of course I love the Sky Trilogy and it looks really good from what little we've seen. But on the other hand it's super unnecessary imo too, would have been fine with just porting the originals to modern hardware (even though any potato ass computer can run them no problem). Why can't we just let old games be old, this need to modernize everything just feels like a waste imo
Yeah I can totally get this! For me as long as the originals are still available to purchase then im all for it, but if you get some companies who remove the originals from store fronts that's where I gets messy!
They will probably remake cold steel if they go up to azure because by the time they get there everything will be old, and also they can rewrite some shitty plot points that the community really don't like
What do you want to see from Falcom next?
Sky SC remake. I know this one is a given but I am not too sure if they are gonna go all in and do it straight after or wait a little bit, I'd rather not have it be too big of a gap.

We are definitely eating good!

I fully expect them to remake Sky 2 and 3 as well since they're doing 1 and I'm so excited for it!
