i just got these and have them hooked up to my pc via optical cable, my motherboard has a really good audio chip set, and with dolby atmos, its definitely enough to shake the house. bass knob in the middle even, had to set 2 profiles on atmos so can have a less bassy experience at late night
I like to keep the grill off but when I'm going to have my grandkids over I put it on because they like to touch the speakers and they will put a hole in the cone for sure so the play it safe I keep the covers on cuz you never know when they're going to show up. You know how grandkids are!
This was very helpful.....Seems to me no matter what desktop speaker you get. One would have to purchase a sub-woofer to get that punch. To feel the low end as opposed to just hearing it. Which is what I'm looking for. Then again, most desktops I've seen are only 2 way with the focus on mid range. I'm leaning toward these though just because of all the options on how you could hook it up to sources.
I have the black dbs and it is awsome I have pushed it to its limits I have played more bass bosted music then ever I might have made it more fragile from the bass but it’s awsome
Definitely no grill cover here, I like to see my speakers they look cool. The cloth cover thing normally looks uh.... like a cheap cloth cover thing? You get a like on this video for actually sharing the real size of these speakers, it is mind boggling to me how many people will review a bookshelf speaker and say nothing about it's actual physical size.
Hello. I just bought this speaker to replace my crappy $15 one. I'm using it on my computer desk. My computer system has one electrical switch that will turn off all outlets on my desk, including the one used for the speaker. I always turn the switch off whenever I don't use the computer. My question is, is it safe for the speaker if I just switch the outlet off without turning the speaker off first? Will this affect the speaker negatively in the long run?
iam not sure about your opinion on imagining. idk if it because of iam moving on from crappy 2.1 multimedia speakers or not but i can easily locate where the music is coming from while being the speaker straight. i mean sometimes i cant but most of the time yes.
I have a Audio Technica turntable there's no RCA jacks where I can plug in the speakers so I would imagine that it would be Wireless it does say Wireless on my turntable so what do I have to do to set that up to make it work I'm having a problem trying to make everything work I don't know if you can get this message or not you seem very knowledgeable thanks for this post I really enjoyed it.
And I like the big band sound myself I love the brass Count Basie Frank Sinatra their Dynamite performers I listen to them all the time I can't wait to try to get my edifier speakers hooked up to my turntable so I can listen.
The 1280DBS is the better speaker if you prefer neutral sound with no over emphasis towards a particular frequency. It's the best budget audiophile speakers for a balanced sound, well worth the price range, especially if you using to connect to a turntable for Vinyl listening...
I think you would plug the sub out (from the R1280dbs) into the L(mono) of the YST-215 according to the manual: usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/0/323550/YST-SW315215.pdf
Offff. I have had a much different experience with these speakers. TL/DR Edifier is not good. -Very very poor construction quality. Everything about this speaker feels cheap. I ordered a pair from Amazon and the first pair just flat out didn't work. They sent me a replacement pair and the control panel fell out. Fun side note, there is minimal baffle/sound dampening inside the speakers. -They sound sloppy/thin and just not good. -They do not get loud -At any level of significant volume they stumble all over themselves and distortion happens quickly. Better off with something else. Feels kinda like Edifier sent these to you for free?

😂😂😂😊👍
Does the grills effect the sound?
I use them with a turntable (Sony PS-LX310BT), they sound great together!
Good to hear you like them, I'm going to get them for a turntable as well.
Good to hear I've just brought them as my first speakers to use with the same turntable

I think that's going to be the case with all bookself speakers

Lovely work as usual. Any suggestions for the best speaker to go for with around 100 bucks?
I order these ! I hope worth it. 🤔
I plug with TV 🙂
Hi. In your opinion what is the best input for this speaker for best audio?
Which Subwoofer We can connect?
You can connect EDIFIER T5 Powered subwoofer…
can an RCA splitter be used on the input side to add a second set ?
I don't see why not
Is it good enough for far field listening ( approx.11 feet) with tv?
Absolutely
Is this ideal to use it as a TV speaker? Are the speech clear enough?
Yes
May I ask how long is the speaker connection cable? Thanks!
What frequency should I set my sub to connected with the 1280dbs?
And I like the big band sound myself I love the brass Count Basie Frank Sinatra their Dynamite performers I listen to them all the time I can't wait to try to get my edifier speakers hooked up to my turntable so I can listen.
are they good for gaming and surround sound ??
Gaming yes, surround.. I don’t think so
Edifier R1280DBs versus Edifier R1280DB for my AT LP60XBT turntable? Thoughts?
Only difference is the DBs has the subwoofer connection
what you think about 1280 dbs and 1380 db ?
DBs has sub woofer out, DB not.
Thanks for the review.
How about R1280DBS vs R1700BTS vs Mackie CR3-X??
Wow how specific

But it does not have balanced connections!
